Mrs. Mae T. Neal, 92, of Pulaski, died Thursday, May 28, 1992, at Lawrenceburg Manor Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, May30, at Bennett-May Chapel with Andy Brown officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mrs. Neal was a native ofGiles Countyand the daughter of the late John Presleyand Armintie Shook Titsworth. She was married to the late A. Lewis Neal, member of the Church of Christ and was a housewife. Survivors include one sister, Alma Johnson of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews.

Dr. J. R. Neal, who lived near Bodenham, died very suddenly Monday night about 11:30 o'clock. Although past sixty-three years of age, the doctor was apparently in good health. Monday he seemed 1uite as well as usual and made several professional calls. Returning home late in the evening he appeared to be in the best of spirits and quite cheerful. He retired at the usual hour and the family was soon asleep. About the hour indicated, Mrs. Neal was awakened by the Doctor's heavy breathing. She called the boys, but the Doctor only breathed once or twice after theyreached his bedside. There was no struggle and nothing but the heavy breathing to indicate that he was not sleeping as usual. A large crowd assembled at Moriah yesterday to

attend the funeral services conducted by Elder J. L. Haddock. Dr. Neal has been for many years one of the best and most highly respected citizens of the county. A skillful physician and indulgent father, and a true friend he enjoyed to a remarkable degree the love and confidence of those who knew him.

In Memoriam:

Dr. John R. Neal died suddenly at his home on Weakley creek at Bodenham, February 21, 1898. He had made several professional calls and returned home late in the afternoon had partook of a hearty meal and conversed pleasantly with his family. He retired about 8 o’clock and slept nicelyfor awhile, when his heavybreathing awoke his wife, she called him and he was unable to speak. She aroused the family but ere they could get him his spirit had taken its flight. “Dust thou art unto dust shalt thou return was not spoken of the soul.” His brother, A. J. Neal, died very similar a little over two years ago while attending the bedside of a sick sister. Although the Doctor was 63 years, 9 months, 1 day old, yet he was quite young looking and was enjoying the verybest of health. Doctor was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, having been a member of good standing since a lad of 18. Quite a concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends followed his remains t Mt. Moriah, where Brother Haddock made a very beautiful talk in eulogy to the dead and warning to the living. Never did a death shock a community more; never will a loss be felt more forcibly. Storng men while gazing on his placid face for the last time brokd down and wept like children. Truly a useful man has gone. He enjoyed the association of a large family, having been married twice. Eight children being born to him by his first wife (who was Miss John Ellen Hicks) and two by his last wife, who survive him now and was Miss Mattie Alsup, of Lincoln County. He was devoted to his family, supplying their every want almost granting their every request. The sorrowing wife has lost a devoted husband. The children and idolizing father, the sisters and brothers a good brother; the church a zealous member, the community a good member and physician and the county a true citizen, for indeed he was liked and respected by all who knew him. To the bereaved we would say: Sorrow not as those who have no hope, our loss is his gain. Yet a little while and we go to meet him, if we have made our peace calling and election sure. Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord; yea sayeth the spirit, they shall rest from their labors and their works do follow them. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. His remains were laid to rest at Moriah cemetery on the 23^rd. May the children of this good man profit by the example set them by him. One That Loved Him

James H. Neal, aged about 22 years, a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Neal, died at his home at Bodenham, Thursday, after three weeks of typhoid fever. He was a good young man and an energetic trader in livestock. The burial occurred at Mt. Moriah Friday, with services by Mr. Knox. The Citizen extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family, and hopes for the early recovery of Miss Lizzie Neal, another member of the family, who has been down for several weeks with the same dread disease.

Mrs. Margaret Oliver, the beloved wife of Captain L. Oliver, died at their home three miles west of Pulaski at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening after a lingering illness of diabetes, aged about 39 years. The remains were interred at Moriah at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. She leaves her heart broken husband the care of nine children.

Mr. Owens died at 3:20 o’clock Monday afternoon, September 1, at Giles County Hospital, after a three months illness. Born in Giles County, he was the son of William Thomas Owens and Mrs. DaisyStofel Owens, of Columbia, formerlyof Giles County. He was a member of the LibertyHill Baptist Church. He was employed bythe Oakes Chair Companyin Columbia before his last illness. In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens is survived by three sisters, Mrs. R. S. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Rayford Rudolph and Callie Kimbrough Owens. He is survived bya daughter, Dana Williams of Shelbyville; two sons, Daniel Owens of Huntsville, Ala., and Dustin Owens of Shelbyville; one brother, Terry "Harve" Owens of Kelso; and one grandson, Lucas Williams. Mrs. M. C. Paine died May 8^th, 1921, aged 83 years. She was the widow of L. J. Paine, who died twenty years ago. Mrs. Paine is the last of a large family of eleven children of William (Buck) Neal’s family and resided near Bodenham. Mrs. Paine was a lovable wife, a good neighbor and loved by everybody. Mrs Paine would go with her husband to his church one Sunday, the next Sunday both would go to the church of her faith, and if there was any trouble over their religious opinions they kept it to themselves. They loved each other and everybody loved Uncle Lewis and Aunt Tach, as theywere better known. Aunt Tach always availed herself of the opportunity to attend every revival of her faith and also attended other church meetings. She loved the church; she loved her kindred; especiall those she made her home with. She loved her neighbors and they loved her. Everyone loved Aunt Tach. Now the cord is broken and there is a vacant chair in a home and an empty seat in church. Her cheerfulness will be missed, but is needed in a better home. One Who Knew Her.
