Obituary: The Pulaski Citizen 24 Apr 1940

Eugene Moran, 71, a good citizen and successful farmer living on Agnew Creek, south of Bodenham School, after a severe and painful illness, extending over several months, died at his home Friday morning. Mr. Moran recently went to a hospital somewhere in Arkansas for treatment. But apparently was not benefitted. Mr. Moran was a native of Williamson County, and lived there till 1910, when he sold out, and bought the place formerly known as the Lindsay farm, on Agnew Creek. Mr. Moran was activelyinterested in his local community. Probablyno other citizen contributed more in time and public interest, that he in the consolidated Bodenham School. And as long as his health would permit he attended and participated in most of the public meetings at the school building, in the interest of the school or community. He served the county on the Board of Tax Equalizers, and made a good record for fair dealing and justice both to individuals and the public. Funeral and burial were at Moriah, Saturday at 11 o’clock,

Elder Elmer Smith officiating. Mr. Moran had been for some time a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Moran is survived by his wife, two sisters and two brothers.

MORRIS, William Bartley 19 May 1860 10 Jun 1926

(h/o Sallie Lee Tidwell Morris and s/o Clate and Elmyra Roberts Morris)

Obituary: The Pulaski Citizen 16 Jun 1926

William Bartley Morris died Thursday night about 7:30 o’clock after an illness of several months. For some days his condition had been serious and death was not unexpected. The burial took place at Moriah with the funeral service conducted by his pastor, Dr. M. S. Kennedy, assisted by Rev. J. L. Taylor of Prospect at the Wales Church of which he was a member also an elder. Mr. Morris was greatly respected and loved by the people of his community and numbered his friends by the score. When almost too weak to speak he requested that each friend who called to see him, be admitted to his room. He was a successful farmer, stockman and seemed to have unusual ability in dealing with hired laborers. He was a member of the Junior Order and at one time a member of the County Court. As long as his health permitted he took an active part in all community and county affairs. But by nature he was a home loving man and his greatest pleasures were the beautifying of his home and surroundings and the companionship of his family. More than forty years ago he was married to Miss Sallie Tidwell, daughter of the late J. P. Tidwell, who survives him. He is also survived by four children as follows: Turner, Flournoy, Newton of the Wales community, and Mrs. Oscar Watson of Pulaski. Although a sufferer for many months he was patient and kind to all and very appreciative of even the least thing that could be done for his comfort. Several days before the end came he expressed a desire to go to his Heavenly home, where he said, God had placed him and often when too weak to speak aloud there was the faint whisper, “Happy, happy, happy.”
