Classic Arquive : Wolfgang Windgassen & Gré Brouwenstijn (New)
Documentary (52’). Musical arquives compliled by Christian Leblé.
Classic Arquive is recognized collection about the filmed classical performances between 1950 and 1975 coming from the INA and BBC’s arquives. This documentary is dedicated to the Wagnerian tenors -which are becoming very rare- like Wolfgang Windgassen and Gré Brouwenstjin. There is no doubt Wolfgang Windgassen that has been the last tenor able to sing roles like Tristan, Siegfried, Parsifal, Lohengrin and Loge ! During 20 years, from 1951 to 1970, Wolfgang Windgassen never missed any Festival of Bayreuth and he became one of the protagonists of the Wagnerian revival encouraged by Wieland Wagner. This concert was recorded in Paris Peyel auditorium in 1964 when Wolfgang Windgassen’s voice attained the highest splendour, he performed some extracts of I and III acts of Parsifal with the RTF Philharmonic Orchestra and two other singers regulars of Bayreuth, the bas Gottlob Frick and the Duchwoman, Gré Brouwenstijn as soprano who will sing Isolde’s Death and two extracts of Wesendock lieder.
