Miss Hallie Rich, 88, died on Saturday, January 2, 1982, at Pulaski Health Care Center. A retired saleslady for Kuhn’s Variety Store in Pulaski, she was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a native of Tennessee, the daughter of the late John and Orlean Long Rich. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, at Bennett-May Chapel, the Rev. Mack Pinkelton and the Reverend Paul Allen officiating, with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.Survivors include several cousins.

Funeral services for James R. Rich, 74, retired state employee, will be held at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Bennett-May Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. William H. Mansfield, Methodist minister. Burial will take place in the family lot in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Rich died at 9:15 o’clock Wednesday morning, October 1, at the home on South Third Street after a long illness. Born June 6, 1884, in Giles County, he was the son of the late John Rich and Orlean Long Rich. An employee of the State for twenty-nine years, he retired in 1948, returning to Pulaski where he had since made his home. Mr. Rich is survived by one sister, Miss Hallie Rich, Pulaski; and a number of nieces and nephews. Bennett-May Funeral Home in charge.

Campbellsville---Death has again been among us and this time claimed as its victim Mrs. Martha Rich, wife of Mr. Joe Rich. She died Sunday morning at 5:20 o’clock after an illness of several weeks. She leaves a husband and two little children to mourn her loss. Her remains were interred at Moriah Monday.

Mrs. Orlean Rich died at her home on the Columbia Highway a mile north of Pulaski, Wednesday afternoon, December 15. And after funeral services at the home Thursday at 2 o’clock the body was laid away in the Moriah Cemetery. Survivors are a daughter, Miss Hallie Rich, of Pulaski, and two sons, Arthur of Pulaski, and Jim, who has employment with the State.

Funeral services for Tom Rich, 87, well known farmer of the Moriah section, who died at 4:15 o’clock Saturdaymorning February15, at Pulaski Hospital following a long period of declining health, were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at Mt. Moriah Church. The Rev. Stuart H. Salmon, Presbyterian minister officiated, assisted bythe Rev. Mack Pinkelton, Baptist minister. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Born and reared in East Tennessee, Mr. Rich came to Giles County in early manhood. He was a member of the Methodist Church. His wife, Mrs. Mary Frances Ward Rich, died nearly sixteen years ago. Mr. Rich is survived by several daughters, Mrs. Will Walls, Mrs. Polk Tarpley, Mrs. George R. Stinnett, Mrs. Tom B. Parker, all of Moriah section, Mrs. Joseph Cocke and Mrs. Flournoy Morris, Pulaski, and Mrs. Ollie Long, Frankewing; three sons, Arthur Rich, Moriah, and Solon Rich and Clarence Rich, both of Pulaski and twenty grandchildren. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Joe Roland, age 69, who lived in the 18th District on upper Agnew, died suddenly Sunday afternoon. Mr. Roland had not been quite well lately, but was able to be up most of the time. He appeared about as usual Sunday and ate dinner. After dinner he lay down to rest awhile. And soon afterward passed away. Mr. Rowland had been Constable or Deputy Sheriff most of the time for the past forty years. He was straight, and active in business matters entrusted him. His life work was farming. The official business was merely incidental. There is not enough legal work in that part of the county, to occupy much of a man’s time. Mr. Roland is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. But no immediate members of his family. After funeral services Monday afternoon by Rev. T. E. Hudson, at Moriah, the body was laid to away in

Moriah Cemetery.

Joyce Marie Rose died this morning at her Pulaski residence. She was 63 years old. Visitation will be held tomorrow from 3-7 p.m. in the upper chapel of Bennett-May Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday at 2p.m. in the lower chapel of Bennett-MayFuneral Home with Reverend Danny Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter Janice Gibson and a son Jimmy Lynn Agent and his wife Teresa, all of Pulaski. She is survived by a grandchild Samantha Gibson and by four sisters Mary Elizabeth Shelton of Pulaski, Ruth Ellen Wright of Ardmore, Jo Ann Price and Julie Russell, both of Pulaski. She is also survived by two brothers Jessie Travis, Jr. and by Robert Travis, both of Pulaski. A Giles County native, Mrs. Minnie Lee Shelby, 90, of Route 2, Kingston Springs, who died Sunday, December 2 in Oak View Nursing Home, Lawrenceburg, were held Wednesdayat 2:00 p.m. at Bennett May Chapel with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Church of Christ minister G. C. Fox was the officiant. Mrs. Shelby, daughter of the late William and Liza Jane Ayres Drake, was married to the late William Gilbert Shelby. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willadean Nicks, Nashville; three sons, Coell Shelby, Pulaski, Winford Shelby and Donald Shelby, Nashville; three step-daughters, Mrs. Florice McGee, Santa Fe, Mrs. Grace Malone, Lawrenceburg and Mrs. Hester Irvine, Knoxville; eight grandchildren; eight great-great­grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Henry Thomas Shook, 68, well-known citizen of the Bodenham section who died suddently at 5 o’clock Sunday morning October 16, at his home, were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Moriah Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Rites were conducted by the Rev. James W. Elder of Lawrenceburg, pastor of the church, and burial took place in the family lot in the church cemetery. A lifelong resident and substantial farmer of the Bodenham community, he was born June 24, 1881 and was the son of the late James Lafayette Shook and Betty Yancey Shook. He was an active member of the Moriah Church, serving as an elder at the time of his death. Mr. Shook is survived by his wife, Mrs. Iva York Shook; three daughters, Mrs. Mitchell Wright, Goodsprings, Mrs. Millard Inman, Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Cleburn Braly, Bodenham; one son, John Shook, Waverly; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. W. A. Bass and Mrs. Tom Cosby, Pulaski, and Mrs. James Smith, Springer Station, Lawrence County; and two brothers, Dellie Shook, Bodenham and Charlie Shook, Russellville, Ala.
