WHITE, Sarah Katherine S. Allen, of 1324 Grove Drive, Pulaski, died Saturday
night, December 16, 2000, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born on
September 3, 1922 in Ivanhoe, Va. and was the daughter of the late Frank
Blair Sayers and Emma Manuel Sayers. She was a retired beautician, having
owned and operated Glamour Beauty Shoppe for 40 years until her retirement
for health reasons. Mrs. White was the widow of George Carter Allen who was
owner of Allen Real Estate until his death. She was also preceded in death
by a son, James Pierce (J.P.) Allen, her second husband, James Kenneth
White, three sisters, Ruth Delp, Cecile Davis and Ovella Jones, and by four
brothers, Sidney Sayers, Bill Sayers, Ben Sayers and Harvey Sayers. Mr.
White was a past member of Pulaski Business and Professional Womens Club, a
member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Pulaski, Va., and a member of
the Memorial Baptist Church having moved her membership from First Baptist
Church when Memorial Baptist Church was organized in 1953. She served in
many capacities over the years and was a dedicated, faithful member.
Surviving are a sister, Anne Akers, Greenwood, Indiana; brother, Lorenzo
(Buster) Sayers, Ivanhoe, Va.; sister-in-law, Virginia (Dude) Sayers,
Ivanhoe, Va.; three stepchildren and spouses, Marc and Jean White, Pulaski,
Dwain and Cindy White and their daughter, April of Pulaski, Donna and David
Williams, Allisonia, Va.; special nephews and spouses, Jerry and Kaye Jones,
Greensboro, N.C., Leon and Linda Jones, Hopewell, Va.; special nieces,
Bonnie Sayers, Ivanhoe, Va., Sue Dalton, Patterson, Va.; special friends,
Fannie and Jay Collins, Pulaski; and many more loving and caring nephews and
nieces, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10
a.m. from the Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Coffey and Rev. Tom
Mabe officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family
will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated or
memorials may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church New Building Kitchen
Fund. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.

Stanley Edison WHITE, 48, passed away late Saturday night in a Draper's Valley nursing home.

Born June 19, 1913 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late John C. and Mary Elizabeth SAUNDERS WHITE.

WHITE was a member of the Woman's Memorial Lutheran Church; Pulaski Lodge No. 1057 BPOE, Post No. 7 American Legion, Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department, Veterans of WW II, and employed at Va. Maid Hosiery Mills.

Surviving are his wife, Berkie POE WHITE, Washington D.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Jack GILL, Pulaski; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Paul QUESENBERRY, White Sands, N. M.; Mrs. John E. WHEELING, Martinsville, Va.; Mrs. Frank L. HAWKINS, San Jose, Calif.; four brothers Randall W. WHITE, Princeton, W. Va.; John Frederick WHITE, Keystone, W. Va.; Ernest F. WHITE and Everett E. WHITE, both of Pulaski.

Funeral services were held today at 2 p. m. from the Woman's Memorial Lutheran Church with the pastor the Rev. Paul B. C----- officiating. Burial followed in the family plot in Oakwood.

Pallbearers were members of the Brotherhood of the Church. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fire Department. The body remained at Steven’s until 1 p. m. Monday.

RETIRED TEACHER DIES IN HOSPITAL
Miss Ollie May WHITE, 71, 144 fourth St. NW, died Thursday night in Pulaski Hospital following an extended illness.

Born, in Pittsylvania County, April 5, 1891, the daughter of the late James Martin WHITE and Lavinia LAUGHBON WHITE and a graduate of Sullins College, she was a retired school teacher having taught in the Bristol and Roanoke city schools.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth W. GLENN and Miss Mary Lou WHITE, both of Pulaski; one brother, Joshua Alexander WHITE, Thomasville, Ga.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Frank E. Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.



The body will remain at the funeral home.

WHITE, James Conley, 71, of 4765 Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski, died Monday, December 24, 2001, at his home. Born August 19, 1930, in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Ruby Chaffin White and Ernest Franklin White. Mr. White was a veteran of the Korean War, a foreman at the Radford Arsenal where he had retired after 28 years of service. After retirement, he worked as a grounds keeper at the APCO picnic grounds. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Hall White; two daughters, Pam White of Pulaski and Mary Beth Alexander and her husband, Junior of Dublin; one son, Adair White and his wife, Belinda of Pulaski; one sister, Peggy Aust and her husband, Glenn of Pulaski; eight grandchildren, Todd Turner and his wife, Jamie, Jarid Turner, Tiffany White, Pattie Adair White, Mariah White, Chaffin Alexander, Conner Alexander, and Caden Alexander; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Turner, Faith Mancuso, and Kayla Mancuso. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Terri Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime Wednesday after 12 noon at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the New River Carilion Hospice, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141.

WHITE, Meria Opal Duncan, 82, of 5107 Cypress Avenue, Dublin, passed away
Tuesday morning, February 15, 2000 at the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born
April 1, 1917, she is the daughter of the late Cordle Duncan and Mattie
Reece Duncan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Silven Foster
White; and one brother, Roy L. Duncan. She is survived by a sister, Lillian
Duncan Marshall of Pulaski; three nephews, Ken Duncan of Blacksburg, Larry
Marshall of Richmond, Dennis Marshall of West Virginia; special friend and
sister-in-law, Clarice Duncan of Blacksburg; special cousin, Gladys Bishop
of Pulaski; many special friends and neighbors. A graveside funeral service
will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Captain George
Quesenberry Cemetery, (Indian Valley), Floyd, with the Rev. James O'Dell
officiating. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is handling arrangements.

WHITE, Ralph E., 79, of 3127 Finks Farm Rd. (Mt. Olivet Rd.), Pulaski, died early Thursday, August 14, 2003 in Highland Ridge Rehab Center, Dublin, Va. He was born in Pulaski, Va. on April 18, 1924 and was the son of the late Frank B. White, Sr. and Georgia Pagans White. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Daphine Coffey, Beatrice Arnold and Beulah Litz and by one brother, Sterling White. He attended the Midway Church of God of Prophecy, Pulaski and was a retired co-owner of West End Garage, Pulaski, for over 30 years. Mr. White was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart. Surviving are his wife, Audrey White, Pulaski; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Marvin Hurst, Laurel, Md., Jo Ann and Travis Akers, Pulaski; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Nancy White, Pulaski, Frank B. White, Jr. and Peggy White, Pulaski; special grandchildren, Bo, Tim, Cindy and Marsha; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. Burial will follow in Draper's Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Wythe County. WHITED, Clyde Raymond, 79, of 1929 Case Knife Road, Pulaski, died Tuesday afternoon, March 25, 2003, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1923, in Russell County, Virginia and was the son of the late Charlie F. Whited and Chole N. Cole Whited. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helga Helms Whited and by six brothers and four sisters. He was retired from RAAP (Hercules) with 33 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the 481st AAA Army and Army Air Forces Anti-Aircraft Battalion and was a member of the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond C. and Edna Whited, Dublin, David L. and Betty Whited, Dublin; grandchildren, Shannon L. Whited, Latishia R. Whited, Haylea M. Whited; great-grandchildren, Saige Pope and Sarah Pope; special friend, Thelma B. Rorrer. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darlene Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with Pulaski VFW Post #1184 conducting the military graveside rites. Visiting will be Friday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Thornspring United Methodist Church. Cranston “Crint” Whited, age 101 of Marengo, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born on November 10, 1901 in Swords Creek, Virginia to the late Charles and Cloe (Cole) Whited. He moved into the Marengo area in 1924. Was a lifelong farmer and worked on the railroad throughout his life. Crint had also worked at the Marion Ordinance Plant and the North Electric factory in Galion officially retiring in 1962.

He was a member of the Alum Creek Friends Church and the Seniors on Center, Mt. Gilead. He loved gardening, eating at Ponderosa and was a part of the breakfast bunch at the Farmstead Inn, Marengo. He enjoyed watching wrestling, Wheel of Fortune, westerns and The Price is Right. He was still living on the family farm at the age of 101 aided only by a cane.

Survived by Son: Dale (Lillian) Whited of Marengo, Daughter: Pat (Ed) Cochran of Marengo, Grandchildren: Jeff (Julie), Doyle (Kitty), Kevin, Karen (Mike) Cremeans, Tamara Cochran, Sabrina (Jeff) Lawson, Great-Grandchildren: Amanda, Britney, Austin, Bryan, Kerry II, Amanda, Tracey, Adam, Samantha, Brooke, Jason, and TC Cremeans, Brother: Clyde of Pulaski, VA.

Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Eva Mae (Elliott) on May, 4 1982, Brothers: Carl, Burk, Virgil, Arnold, and Kenneth, Sisters: Elanie Ray, Grace and Maggie Whited, Grandson: Kerry Cochran I.

Friends may call Thursday 4-7 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229, Marengo. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Alum Creek Friends Church, Pastor’s Charles Robinson and James Brantingham officiating. Burial will follow at the Alum Creek Friends Cemetery.

Woodrow Prentiss Whittaker, 38, died suddenly on December 28 at the home of his niece, Mrs. Curtis Hall, in Radford. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of M. L. Whittaker in Tazewell, the service being in charge of the Rev. Eustis Russian of Radford, assisted by the Rev. Ortie Bradshaw, pastor of the Tazewell Baptist Church. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews; Garland, Ernest, Raymond and Donald Whittaker, Kenneth and Ralph Yost.

Raines and Jason Wickline; one brother, Avis Wickline; one sister, Letha
Terry; and two brothers-in-law, Pete Boothe and Charles Boothe. He is
survived by two daughters and two sons and their spouses, Mildred W. Raines

Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Willie Yates
and the Rev. Gary Sheppard. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery.

WIKLE, Mary Stoots, 70, of Dublin, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 in the
Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Born on March 30, 1930 in Wythe
County, she was the daughter of Mary Alderman Stoots and the late Joe Basil
Stoots. She was a long time member of Dublin United Methodist Church. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Evert Leslie Wikle; a son, Steven
Edwin Wikle; and a brother, Ronald Gray Stoots. She is survived by her
mother, Mary Alderman Stoots, Dublin; three daughters, Mrs. William "Lynn"
Earles, Dublin, Mary Jo Wikle, Big Stone Gap, and Mrs. Phillip "Patty"
Baker, Dublin; one son, David Wikle, Christiansburg; also survived by six
grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday
at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard
Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memorial
Gardens in Dublin. Visiting will be anytime Monday after 3 p.m. at the

WILBURN, William Thomas, 75, of Shawsville, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, in a Tazewell nursing home. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Barton Wilburn; his parents, Claude B. and Lyndell Harris Wilburn; and also by two brothers, Jesse and Don Wilburn. Survivors include four sons, Alan Wilburn of Christiansburg, Monte Wilburn of Parrott, Wade Wilburn of Round Rock, Texas and Troy Wilburn of Boca Raton, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Wilburn of Suffolk and Wade Wilburn of Christiansburg; four sisters, Norma Alliff of Cave Springs, Ruth Wilburn of Pulaski, Jane Wilburn and Patsy Caldwell, both of Radford; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Riverview Holiness Church in Christiansburg with the Rev. George Jarrell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.

Phoebe Margaret Wiley, 62, of Shawsville, Va. born Nov. 9, 1940 in Pulaski departed from this earth May 23, 2003 to join hands with her Savior. Phoebe was one of nine children born to Mrs. Mary Louise McClanahan and the late Lawrence David McClanahan, Sr. of Pulaski. She is survive by her loving husband of 17 years Dallas Wiley; one son, Leroy Bryson, Jr. of Shawsville; and preceded in death by her daughter Lucy Regina Bryson Motley. She is also survived by one brother, James Richard McClanahan, Pulaski; four sisters, Lillian Lindsey, Radford; Lucy McClanahan and Fannie McClanahan, Pulaski; Mary Alice Reeves, Christiansburg; two grandsons, one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 2 p.m. at Shawsville Baptist Church, Shawsville with the Rev. Erdie Trigg officiating. Interment will follow in the Shawsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church. Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home, Roanoke is in charge of arrangements.
