Henry Sloan –Coordinator

*Susan Forester is our paid Nursery Worker. We feel it is important to have two people in the nursery at all times. The Nursery hours are 9:45-12:00. If there are no children in the nursery when you arrive, Susan can page you when needed. We ask that only nursery age children (infant-2 years) be in the nursery during church hours. If you are unable to work the above date, either switch with someone or contact Annie Chakales at 706-260-7926. Thank you for your help.

Our mission is to recruit more family members to Sunday School so we will have more children in our classroom. We currently use Toddlers & Two’s literature. If you have children in this age group, we would be happy to have them join our class.

The Kindergarten Class
Teacher- & Renee Caylor

The ages of the children are 4 to 6. We use Rock Solid Early Elementary Bible Story Book (ages 5-6) Literature. Our adopted Grandmother is Ms. Ouida Seymour and she is remembered with gifts on occasion.

Teacher: Rita Wagers

For third and fourth graders, we study the literature Rock Solid Older Elementary. The lessons include Bible verses, story lesson, and activity times. At Christmas we adopt a young child or baby to give clothes and toys. Sometimes we do other activities like ringing the Salvation Army bell.

TWEENS

Teacher: Kathy Reed

The Tweens class is 5^th & 6^th grade students. Our mission is to reach other 5^th & 6^th grade students through our actions and our words. We adopt a 5^th or 6^th grade child at Christmas and provide him/her with gifts. We study Rock Solid Tween Faithzine from Cokesbury.

Teens

Teachers: Donna Douglas and Kathryn Brooker

The Senior High class helps to take down the church Christmas decorations and store them each Christmas. We also have an additional Christmas project which changes from year to year. Our literature is Bible Lessons for Youth, the International Lesson Series. For fun we sometimes have breakfast at a teacher’s house and have Sunday School there. In the summer we plan a few outings together like swimming, etc.

Sonshine Class

Teacher: Jimmy Brooker

Our literature is the Adult Bible series from Cokesbury. Our class consists of married couples with school-aged children. The members are typically in their 30’s and early 40’s. Our watch care people are J.L. & Nina Miller.

New Hope Class

Teacher: Jason Denson

The New Hope Sunday School class was founded in 2003. The class was developed for young singles and couples. Our goal as a class is to grow together spiritually while nourishing our relationship with God. Our class has just adopted a shut in, Mrs. Ouida Seymour. Each Christmas our class adopts a needy family. We want to make Christmas a special time for everyone. We welcome visitors and our goal and mission is to be part of the structure that makes PGUMC as pleasant as it is.


Joy Class

Teacher: Bill Caylor

Our Literature is the Adult Bible Study. We help with the tape ministry for our shut ins and adopt a family at Christmas. Our class sets up and decorates the Christmas tree in the sanctuary. We provide special needs for nursing home residents and ring the Salvation Army Christmas bell. Each week we have coffee, doughnuts and social time prior to each week’s lesson and our class meets for breakfast the last Sunday of each month at Shoney’s at 9:00a.m.

Wesley Class -2010

The Wesley Class began in the 1960’s. We are the Adult Methodist Bible Study material and our format is a discussion class. Our goal is to study God’s word, apply it to our daily lives and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. We welcome anyone who would like to join us.
