MRS. DORA O. THORNTON
Mrs. Dora QUESENBERRY THORNTON, 70 died at Pulaski Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Pulaski County, the daughter of the late John R. QUESENBERRY and Louisa NUNN QUESENBERRY, she is survived by her husband, Alfred Terry THORNTON; two sons Vernon L. THORNTON and George R. THORNTON both of Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin C. HALL and Mrs. Reba Ethel GILL both of Fairfax; one brother, Arthur L. QUESENBERRY; Draper; one sister, Mrs. Elbert DUNAGAN, Pulaski and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from the Aldersgate Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neil McKinnon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The body will remain at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home until one hour before the service.

THORNTON, Iva Annie Cressel, 77, of 3079 Schrader Hill Road (Robinson Tract Community), Pulaski, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2000 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia. Born August 2, 1922 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Berman Cressel and Maggie Warf Cressel. Also preceding her in death was her husband, James Isaac Thornton; two sisters, Marie Dalton and Josephine Wright; two brothers, Allen Cressel and Clifford Cressel. Surviving are her children James Allen Thornton and Connie Murphy Thornton of Christiansburg, Va., Brenda Thornton Wilson and Gordon Wilson of Grahams Forge, Va., Donald Andrew Thornton and Lora Lyons of Pulaski, Va., John Franklin Thornton and Stacy Arnold Thornton of Parrott, Va.; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Viola Gravely of Parrott, Va., Eva Conner of Dayton, Ohio, Shirley Taylor of Radford, Va., Elise Holbrook of Dublin, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Raymond Kohl officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory
Gardens, Dublin. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the
family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Bower Funeral
Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.

TIBBS, Billy Joe, 59, of Bassett and formerly of Roanoke, died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at Danville Regional Hospital in Danville. Born on May 31, 1944 in Pulaski the son of the late Annie Tibbs. Surviving are one daughter Lisa Austin of Bassett; three grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Tibbs of Lynchburg; two sisters, Dorothy Gene Akers of Key West, Fla. and Shirley Tibbs of Wytheville. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. following the visitation with minister Marshall McCrickard officiating with burial in the Henry Memorial Park. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is serving the Tibbs Family.

EDWARD G. TICE
Edward G. TICE, a longtime resident of Pulaski, died Thursday in Baltimore, Md.
Surviving are one daughter, Sarah Tice EASTMAN, Baltimore; two brothers, Robert H. TICE, Berwyn, Pa., and Fred E. TICE, Opelika, Ala., and a sister, Mary Tice MAHLA, Seabrook Island, S.C.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11. at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Sarah and Edward TICE Scholarship Fund of the Pulaski Music Club, Mrs. L.A. Dunlap, 918 N. Jefferson Ave., Pulaski, 24301, or Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski.

Hazel Craig Tickle, age 91 of 539 Burgis Avenue, Pulaski and the Randolph House Home for Adults, died Thursday morning June 5, 2003 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born February 12, 1912 in Covington, Va., she was the daughter of the late Annie Quesenberry Craig and Elliott Craig. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Samuel Adams and one daughter, Betty Tickle Quesenberry. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Tickle Worrell of Pulaski: one son; Michael Craig Tickle of Midwest City, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Winn officiating. Interment will follow in Thorn Spring Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 P.M. TICKLE, Nancy Shepherd, 87, of Dublin, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 in a Pulaski Hospital. She was the widow of George A. Tickle. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Snavley of Dublin and Sue Duncan, Radford; one sister, Mildred Snider, Pearisburg; and a half brother, Jim Shepherd, Grundy. Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the New Hope Church of God with Rev. T. Michael Bond officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Pulaski County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at The DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.

TICKLE, Nellie Hazel Southerland, 80, of Radford, passed away Friday, November 16, 2001 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Tickle was born on February 9, 1921 to the late Foster and Effie Frances Southerland. She was a member of the Parrott United Methodist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Grant Tickle; and a son, Clayton Foster Tickle. Survivors include four daughters, Mary and James Sisson of Christiansburg, Betty Lively of Radford, Patsy and Roger Stewart of Northern Va., Ella Lou and Bill Duncan of Belspring; grandchildren, Barbara Chandler, Alecia Smith, Belinda Tickle Quesenberry, David Lively, Beth Via, Kimberly Nash, Lana Stewart, Teresa Smith, and Kelli Thompson; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Aaron W. Fitch officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

John S. TOLBERT, 65, route 2, Pulaski, died this morning at Pulaski Hospital. He is survived by his wife Annie TOLBERT, three daughters Mrs. Emaline COLEMAN, Hillsville; Miss Cennie TOLBERT and Mrs Lillie McFALL, both off Pulaski, four sons, Willie and James of Pulaski, Lewis of Roanoke, and Luther of Galax.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Woodlawn Methodist church, with the Rev. Harman Bolt in charge. Burial at the Woodlawn cemetery.

Shelby Ray Tolbert died January 21 at his home in Traverlers Rest, South Carolina. Born May 9, 1939 in Pulaski Co. Va. He was the son of the late Elijah W. and Lillie Mae Marshall Tolbert. Grandparents were John S. and Letha Ann Norman Tolbert and Abraham C. and Polly Ann Reece Marshall.
He was also preceeded in death by a brother L.A. Tolbert.He is survived by his wife Angela Stehr Tolbert and two daughters Sabrina Hyslop and Melissa Bridges. Three Sons Shelby R. Jr., Ricky and Charles Tolbert
He is also survived by two brothers: J. W. and Emmett W. Tolbert, two sisters Ruby Dalton and Thelma Stanton.and nine grandchildren. Also numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held at Johnson Funeral home in Traverlers Rest, S.C. on January 25, with burial in Grand View Memorial Gardens,
Shelby served over 22 years in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Sgt. Major.
Grave side Military rituals were performed by the honor guard of Fort Gordon , Georgia with a 21 gun salute.

Doris McNeil Tomasie, 82, died June 22, 2003 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash. She was born August 4, 1921 in Maynard, Minn. to Cecelia McCartney and Charles McNeil. She graduated with highest honors from Chippawa County High School in Maynard. She is survived by one son, Squire Tomasie of Bellevue, W.Va. and one daughter, Cheryl Tomasie Fariss, and son-in-law, Bruce L. Fariss, M.D. of Allisonia, Va.; one sister, Lois McNeil Mertz of Tacoma; five grandchildren, Travis Tomasie of Kirkland, now on active duty with the U.S. Army in Ft. Benning, Ga., Henry, Sarah Jane, Caroline, and Adam Fariss, all of Allisonia; and many nieces and nephews in the Pacific Northwest. Doris moved to Tacoma at age 20, where she met and married Geno Tomasie; together they owned and operated Geno's Imported Car Dealership in Lakewood, Wash. for many years during which time Doris was active in many business and civic organizations. Doris was a strong supporter of the PTA and had been a den mother for Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls while her children were young. Doris will be remembered for her great lust for life, sharp wit and caring heart. She adopted countless lost pets during her lifetime, she especially loved cats. She will he buried in the Fariss family cemetery in Allisonia on a hill overlooking the creek where she loved to play with her grandchildren. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.

TOWNLEY, Frances Basham, 82, born in Christiansburg, Va., and passed away in Salem, Va., on Tuesday, February 12, 2002. She was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church, the Historical Society, Daughters of The American Revolution, and other civic clubs. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Townley; loving mother of Peggy Townley Radike and son-in-law, Paul, of Roanoke; devoted grandmother of Martha and Alexandra Radike, Townley Aide Hamilton and husband, Trip; and was preceded in death by her sisters, Esthma B. Collings and Ada B. Holcomb. Frances and her husband, James, a native of Ronceverte, W.Va., owned and operated J. J. Townley & Company until their retirement and move to Salem, Va., in 1984. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2002, 2 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte, W.Va., with the Rev. J. Dexter Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association. Mrs. Kitty LYONS TRAIL, 72 of 3820 Ventnor Road, N.E., died Thursday in a Roanoke hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry R TRAIL of Roanoke; two daughters, Mrs. Windred W. LEONARD, Alexandria and Mrs. F.R. SPANGLER, Roanoke; four sons, Guy R., Herman A., and John Robert TRAIL all of Roanoke and Warren S. TRAIL of Roanoke County; one brother, Ward H Lyons of Pulaski, 30 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Newbern Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert F. Crawford and the Rev. Robert Hawkins. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Pulaski County.
Pallbearers will be Windle and Woodson TRAIL, Archie and Avery LYONS, Joe HOLDERFIELD and John HANCOCK.
The body will be taken from Lotz to the church today at 11 a.m

Born November 23, 1946, in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Rigney Morris and Irvin Conduff Morris. Sandra was a member of the Pulaski Pentecostal Holiness Church and a proud member of the Pulaski County Humane Society. She is survived by a daughter Amy Spradling Carter and her husband Jeff of Rocky Mt., Va.: a brother Richard I. Morris of Radford: three grandchildren; Matthew and Timothy Carter, and Kristen Carter: two nephews; Matthew Morris, and Nicholas Morris, his wife Terri and their son Levi: a special aunt Eula R. Vaughan of Pulaski; also survived by special friends; Michele and Bob Adkins of Dublin, Pamn and Dave Davis of Pulaski, Charles “Dink” and Teresa Andrews of Pulaski, Jim “Peanut” Linkous of KY. TUCKER, Louise Robinette, 81, of Dublin, died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at her residence. She was born on January 25, 1922 to James L. and Pebble Stone Robinnette in Benham, Ky., and later lived in Big Stone Gap, Va. She was formerly a teller at the Bank of Virginia's Main Street Office in the Town of Pulaski. Louise is survived by two sons, James L. Tucker and Randolph L. Tucker, both of Dublin; two sisters, Ruth Robinette Harstvedt of Melbourne, Fla., and Frances Robinette Tate of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and three grandchildren, Mary C. Tucker of Hickory, N.C., Hannah K. Tucker and Roland W. Tucker both of Dublin. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dublin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Susan Cyre officiating. Interment will be in the Dublin Town Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Nettie Simpkins, also a son, Sidney E. Wilson, her husbands, Latha Wilson and Ernest Turman, and two brothers, Waddie and Marvin Simpkins. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Seibert Simpkins, Snowville; a son, Merle Wilson, Hiwassee; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Wilson; two brothers, Hampton Simpkins, Radford and Harless Simpkins, Salem; two sisters, Ruby Simpkins and Reva Simpkins, both of Roanoke; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2002, at The DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Rev. Neil Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Pulaski County. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at The DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Henry Holt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Barnett’s Funeral Home until 1 p.m.
