5773 AUST WWI HUGE LOT OF LETTERS AND ASSOCIATED EPHEMEREA. (68 letters, 2 photos and cablegrams, envelopes) attributed to Lieutenant Wilfred Charles Satchell M.C. 19th Bn (18th on RTA) Great set of handwritten letters most on plain paper, some on YMCA letterhead, some on 19th Bn letterhead. Some letters mention significant events during the war, numerous references to some of his friends becoming wounded & KIA. Also action on the Somme; the August offensive; news of his award of the Military Cross read by C.O. at the Mess Parade and of his receiving the M.C Investiture at Buckingham Palace by King George V. His brother Roy was also in the AIF during WWI and his letters are also available for auction. Grade II- $1600

5777 AUST WW2 & BEYOND 4 PAY BOOKS. As used by VX62327 John Hugh McMenamin. Joined AIF 1941 as a 22 year old and served in the Australian Regular Army into the 1950's as a Warrant Officer Class Two. 1 book has some loose pages otherwise all are in good condition. Worthy of further research. Grade II- $60

5778 AUST WW2 SYDNEY LEGACY LOT OF EPHEMERA. Includes a programme of "A night of entertainment" Sept 4, 1944. Attached to this is a home made style legacy club badge (Paper with pin to reverse). A button badge with the name "Gwen ford-Junior legacy" and nice other "musical pageant" programmes for events held in Sydney from 1941 through to 1945. G/C. 5786 GERM WW1-WW2 GROUP OF 4 ITEMS RELATING TO THE ONE FAMILY. Consisting of 2 x workbooks to the father, Friedrich Strauch (Strau)'Born 27-8-1891 in Wien. Imperial workbook with entries from 1905 to 1918. Entry for the 'Phonix' Aircraft works in Wien, from 30-11-1916 to 15-11-1918. 3rd Reich workbook (Eagle and Swastika to front cover) with entries from 1935 to 1956. 3rd Reich Army Wehrpass (Eagle and Swastika to front cover) to younger son, Rudolf Strau (With I.D. Photo), Born 14-4-1927. Attached to Ersatz reserve 1. Minimul entries from 12-7-1944 to 19-12-1944. Also included is a chest up period photograph of a soldier wearing an M40 tunic with Russian front ribbon through second tunic buttonhole. This appears to be a photograph of the older son, Born in 1922. Unusual lot to the one family. Grade II- $285

5793 GERM WW2 PAIR OF RARE CHANNEL ISLANDS RELATED DOCUMENTS. Both relating to a Wilfred J. Renouf. First document dated 1941, has a "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz" (German Red Cross) Letterhead and ink stamp on top. Is from Wilfred J Renouf, Bellis, Bailiff's Cross, St. Andrew's Guernsey. Addressed to a Dr. Middleton-Smith C/o Lloyds Bank. Hants. England, with a short typed message (in English). Has red Ink English "passed" stamp to bottom of document. 2X fold marks Seperated at top fold mark (has been taped back together.) Second document in German, dated 1942, is a receipt for a load of horse manure for W.J. Renouf. Has ink Eagle and Swastika feld post stamp. 3X fold marks. Grade III+ $225

Shows P-47 Thunderbolts of the 56th Fighter Group intercepting FW 190's of II/JG I as Luftwaffe fighters charge head-on into a formation of 100th Bomb Group B17's on route to Berlin for the first daylight raid on the capital.
