GEORGE THOMAS HANKINS (c. 1843-1920). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

George Thomas Hankins (c. 1843-1920) [Epsom College 1855-1860] was the son of Thomas Hankins, surgeon, of Bengal Place, South-East London. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital. He then emigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and died there in 1920. He was appointed Honorary Surgeon at the Ear Nose and Throat Department, Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, and Examiner in Surgery for Sydney University. He was Secretary of the New South Wales Branch of the British Medical Association.




WILLIAM NEWMAN WALKER ( ? – 1908). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William Newman Walker (? -1908) [Epsom College 1859-1861] was the son of W. N. Walker, surgeon, of Tollington Park, North London. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Hackney and Cambridge Heath, East London. He was also Honorary Surgeon for the Holloway and North Islington Dispensary


FRANK CUFAUDE (c. 1843-1905). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Edin.).

Frank Cufaude (c. 1843-1905) [Epsom College 1855 or 1856-1857] was the son of W. H. Cufaude, surgeon, of Acle, Norfolk, and brother of Hugh Cufaude [Epsom College 1855-1857]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, where he won the Physiology Prize, and went into general practice at Streatham, South London. He was previously Medical Officer of Health for the East District of the Blofield Union, Norwich.


THOMAS HENRY MORRIS (c. 1843-1868). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Thomas Henry Morris (c. 1843-1868) [Epsom College 1855-1858] was the son of Dr Edwin Morris of Spalding, Lincolnshire. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Trecynon, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf. He died in 1868, aged about 25 years.


WALTER COLMAN (c. 1843-1908). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Walter Colman (c. 1843-1908) [Epsom College 1856-1857] was the son of T. E. T. Colman, surgeon, of Wymondham, Norfolk. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Brighton, Sussex. He was a Fellow of the Obstetrical Society of London, and Consulting Surgeon to the Brighton and Hove Lying-In Hospital, and the Dispensary for Diseases of Women and Children. He was also Surgeon for the Brighton District Union, and the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. He was previously a Surgeon in the 4th Dragoon Guards, and Medical Officer for Mile End Old Town during the cholera epidemic of 1866.


REV. JOSEPH MORRIS (c. 1843-1918). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. & L.M. (Edin.), L.S.A. (Lond.), M.D. (Erlangen).

Joseph Morris (c. 1843-1918) [Epsom College 1855-1861] was the son of Henry Morris, surgeon, of Studley, and brother of Dr Henry Morris [Epsom College 1855-1860]. He received his medical education at Glasgow and Erlangen Universities, and went into general practice in Barnsley, Yorkshire. He was Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Darton District of the Barnsley Union, and Medical Officer for the Silkstone, Monk Bretton and other collieries. He was a Clerk in Holy Orders.


FRANCIS DINGLEY PITT (1843-1930). L.R.C.P., L.M. (Edin.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Francis Dingley Pitt (1843-1930) [Epsom College 1856-1859. Cricket XI] was the son of Richard Pitt, surgeon, of Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer for the Chiswick and Turnham Green Dispensary. He was a Member of the West London Medico-Chirurgical Society.




WILLIAM FOSTER VISE (1843-1878). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William Foster Vise (1843-1878) [Epsom College 1856-1859] was the son of Charles Vise, surgeon, of Spalding, Lincolnshire. He received his medical training at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Spalding, Lincolnshire, where he was also Surgeon to the Spalding Infirmary and Dispensary, and Surgeon to the Spalding House of Correction. He was the Medical Officer of Health for Spalding.


JOHN BEDFORD KERSWILL (1843-1926). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), M.R.C.P. (Edin.), F.L.S.

John Bedford Kerswill (1843-1926) [Epsom College 1858-1859] was the son of R. W. P. Kerswill, surgeon, of St Germans, Cornwall. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital, and went into general practice in Norbury, South London. He was a Fellow of the Obstetrical Society of London, and previously Medical Officer of Health for St Germans R.D.C.


JOHN WILLIAM ROBATHAN (1843-1882). M.D. (Pennsylvania).

John William Robathan (1843-1882) [Epsom College 1857-1860] was the son of Edward Robathan, surgeon, of Risca, Monmouthshire, and brother of Dr George Beckett Robathan [Epsom College 1857-1860]. His British medical school is not known, but he received some part of his medical education in the United States, passing the M.D. of Pennsylvania University, the oldest medical school in the U.S.A. He went into general practice at Scranton, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., where he died in 1882, at the age of 39 years. He was Captain of the United Hospitals Rugby XV.


EDWARD CHESMAN (c. 1843-1906). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.).

Edward Chesman (c. 1843-1906) [Epsom College 1856-1860] was the son of Thomas Chesman, surgeon, of Sheffield. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University and Sheffield University, and went into general practice at Llanbister, Radnorshire, where he was also Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Llanbister District of the Knighton Union.


ALFRED WILLIAM GORDON ATKINS (1843-1875). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.R.C.P. (Edin.).

Alfred William Gordon Atkins (1843-1875) [Epsom College 1859-1862] was the son of A. T. B. Atkins, surgeon, of Hadleigh, Suffolk. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Hadleigh, Suffolk. He died in 1875, aged 32 years.


WILLIAM ROGERSON WHITE (? 1843-1913). C.B., R.N., M.B., B.Ch. (Dublin).

William Rogerson White (? 1843-1913) [Epsom College 1855-1856] was the son of John White, surgeon, of Storey’s Gate, Westminster. He was appointed Deputy Inspector General, Royal Navy, having previously been a Fleet Surgeon in the Royal Navy, on H.M.Gunship ‘Cracker.’ No other details known.


THOMAS THEODORE TAYLOR (1843-1877). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Theodore Taylor (1843-1877) [Epsom College 1855-1857] was the son of Thomas Taylor, surgeon and High Bailiff of Cricklade, Wiltshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Cirencester and Cricklade, Wiltshire. He was a member of the Gloucester Medical Association, and High Bailiff of Cricklade, Wiltshire.


EDWARD EARNSHAW CASS (1843-1874). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Edward Earnshaw Cass (1843-1874) [Epsom College 1856-1858] was the son of W. Eden Cass, surgeon, of Goole, East Yorkshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Goole, where he was Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator of Health for Bootle, Yorkshire. He was also an Assistant Surgeon for the 28th West York Rifle Volunteers. Edward Cass died at the early age of 30 years from diphtheria that he contracted from a patient.


GEORGE CORNEY BIRT (c. 1844-1897). L.F.P.S., L.M. (Glas.).

George Corney Birt (c. 1844-1897) [Epsom College 1857-1860] was the son of Thomas Birt, surgeon, of Leamington, Warwickshire. He received his medical training at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Peckham, South London.


PHILIP BROOKES MASON (c. 1844-1903). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), F.L.S., J.P.

Philip Brookes Mason (c. 1844-1903) [Epsom College 1856-1858] was the son of William Mason, surgeon, of Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. He received his medical training at University College Hospital, where he won the Atkinson-Morley Surgical Scholarship, and the Filliter and Longridge Exhibition. For a time he was Senior Demonstrator in Anatomy at University College, and then went into general practice at Burton-on-Trent, where he was also Surgeon to the Burton-on-Trent Infirmary. He was a J.P. for Burton-on-Trent.


THOMAS ROBERT NASON (c. 1844-1875). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Thomas Robert Nason (c. 1844-1875) [Epsom College 1856-1856] was the son of Edward Nason, surgeon, of Nuneaton, Warwickshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Nuneaton until 1875, when he emigrated to Victoria, Australia, where he died, aged 31 years.


JOHN SHIRLEY STEELE PERKINS [afterwards STEELE-PERKINS] (1844-1871). B.A. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

John Shirley Steele Perkins (1844-1871) [Epsom College 1857-1858] was the son of S. S. Perkins, surgeon, of Exeter, Devon. He received his medical education at Clare College, Cambridge and Guy’s Hospital, and took 1st Class Honours in the B.A. Examination. He went into general practice at Exeter, and died in 1871, aged 27 years.


EDWARD WILLIAM ORTON (c. 1844-1904). L.R.C.P., L.M. (Edin.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Edward William Orton (c. 1844-1904) [Epsom College 1856-1859] was the son of John Orton, surgeon, of Foleshill, Warwickshire, and brother of Dr John Orton [Epsom College 1856-1860]. He received his medical education at Queen’s College, Birmingham (Birmingham University) and was then appointed Resident Surgeon at Birmingham Lying-In Hospital. He then went into general practice at Bedworth, Warwickshire, where he was also Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for Bedworth District, Foleshill Union, and Assistant Physician at the Droitwich Lunatic Asylum.


FREDERICK ROBERTSON HAWARD (1844-1913). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frederick Robertson Haward (1844-1913) [Epsom College 1857-1859] was the son of Frederick Haward, surgeon, of Halesworth, Suffolk. He received his medical training at St George’s Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Luton. He died in 1913, in South Africa. No further details found.


JOHN KNOWLER HYDE (1844-1916). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Knowler Hyde (1844-1916) [Epsom College 1855-1860. Cricket XI] was the son of Edward Hyde, surgeon, of Witney, Oxfordshire, and brother of Dr William Derby Hyde [Epsom College 1856-1862]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, where he won the Senior Anatomy Medal, and went into general practice at Earl’s Barton, Northamptonshire. He was also Medical Officer of Health and Surgeon for Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and Medical Officer for the Earl’s Barton District of the Wellingborough Union.


WALTER ANSTICE HARVEY (c. 1844-1920). M.B. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Walter Anstice Harvey (c. 1844-1920) [Epsom College 1856-1860] was the son of William Harvey, surgeon, of South Petherton, Somerset, and brother of Dr Charles William Harvey [Epsom College 1863-1867]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Upper Norwood, South London. He was sometime a member of the Medical Examination Board of Tasmania, but no further details are known.


THOMAS HOLYOAKE (c. 1844-1906). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Holyoake (c. 1844-1906) [Epsom College 1856-1857] was the son of Thomas Holyoake, surgeon, of Kinver, Staffordshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Worcester.


FREDERICK KNOWLES (c. 1844-1871). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Frederick Knowles (c. 1844-1871) [Epsom College 1856-1860] was the son of E. Y. Knowles, surgeon, of Farnham, Surrey. He received his medical training at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Farnham, Surrey.


GEORGE ROBERT LAKE (1844-1922). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

George Robert Lake (1844-1922) [Epsom College 1858-1860] was the son of John Lake, licensee of the Warwick Arms Hotel, Warwick. He received his medical training at St George’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Gloucester Terrace, London. He was a Fellow of the Obstetrical Society of London.


HORACE OCTAVIUS CHALDECOTT (c. 1844-1898). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Horace Octavius Chaldecott (c. 1844-1898) [Epsom College 1856-1861. head prefect. Cricket XI] was the son of C. W. Chaldecott, surgeon, of Dorking, Surrey, and brother of Dr John Henry Chaldecott [Epsom College 1873-1880], and Bristowe Chaldecott [Epsom College 1874-1877]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex and St Thomas’s Hospitals, and Heidelberg University. He went into general practice at Dorking, Surrey.


LYTTLETON FREDERICK OSBALDESTON (c. 1844-1897). M.R.C.S., (Lond.), L.S.A. (Eng.).

Lyttleton Frederick Osbaldeston (c. 1844-1897) [Epsom College 1856-1858] was the son of Thomas Osbaldeston, surgeon, of Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and brother of Ernest William Osbaldeston [Epsom College 1855-1859]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, where he was a Prizeman in Clinical Medicine, and took Honours in Medical Jurisprudence and Midwifery. He went into general practice at Hatfield, Hertfordshire, where he was also Medical Officer for the 3rd District, Hatfield Union, and Surgeon Major of the 4th Battalion, the Bedfordshire Regiment.


JOHN HENRY SIMPSON (1844-1869). M.R.C.S. (Lond.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Henry Simpson (1844-1869) [Epsom College 1855-1860] was the son of F. H. Simpson, surgeon, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital. He was a Ship’s Surgeon for the P. and O. Steamship Company, but died in 1869, aged 25 years.


THOMAS SOMERVILLE SMITH (c. 1844-1893). L.R.C.S., L.M. (Edin.), L.S.A. (Lond.), M.D. (Durham).

Thomas Somerville Smith (c.1844-1893) [Epsom College 1856-1856] was the son of Dr T. B. Smith, of Sittingbourne, Kent, and brother of Dr William Woodriff Smith [Epsom College 1856-1856]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Sittingbourne, Kent. He was also a Surgeon for the Milton Division of H. M. Coastguard.


WILLIAM WOODRIFF SMITH (c. 1844-1926). L.R.C.S., L.M. (Edin.), L.S.A. (Lond.), M.D. (St Andrews).

William Woodriff Smith (c. 1844-1926) [Epsom College 1856-1856] was the son of Dr T. B. Smith, of Sittingbourne, Kent, and brother of Thomas Somerville Smith [Epsom College 1856-1856]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Sittingbourne, Kent. He was a member of the General Council of the University of St Andrews.


ALFRED HOLLIS (1845-1915). M.D., C.M. (Edin.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Alfred Hollis (1845-1915) [Epsom College 1856-1857] was the son of Dr C. W. Hollis, of Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, and brother of Dr Elphinstone Hollis, M.D. [Epsom College 1864-1868], and Charles Hoffmeister Hollis [Epsom College 1865-1869]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Yarmouth, Isle of Wight; Civil Surgeon for the Royal Engineers, Fort Victoria, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, and Admiralty Surgeon and Agent. He was elected President of the Isle of Wight Branch of the British Medical Association.


ALBERT ARTHUR NAPPER (1845-1928). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Albert Arthur Napper (1845-1928) [Epsom College 1855-1861] was the son of Albert Napper, surgeon, of Cranleigh, Surrey [Founder of the Cottage Hospitals], and father of Harold Arthur Napper [Epsom College 1887-1892 – killed by a blow from a cricket ball in the field at school], Ernest Winkworth Napper [Epsom College 1891-1895], Dr John Henry Napper [Epsom College 1891-1898], Frank William Napper [Epsom College 1893-1898], and Edward Robert Napper [Epsom College 1895-1900]. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital, and went into general practice at Cranleigh, Surrey, where he also served as Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Cranleigh District, Hambledon Union, and Surgeon to the Cranleigh Village Hospital. He was President of the South Eastern Branch of the British Medical Association, and a Member of the Epsom College Council.


THOMAS PRINCE FOTHERGILL (c. 1845-1910). M.D. (Edin.), M.R.CS. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Prince Fothergill (c. 1845-1910) [Epsom College 1858-1859] was the son of Robert Fothergill, surgeon, of Bedale, North Yorkshire. He received his medical education at King’s College, London, Paris University and Edinburgh University. He went into general practice at Bedale, Yorkshire, and also served as Medical Officer for the South District, Bedale.


WILLIAM HENRY HUBERT (1845-1911). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William Henry Hubert (1845-1911) [Epsom College 1859-1863. Cricket XI] was the son of W. A. Hubert, surgeon, of Markyate Street, Hertfordshire. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Billingshurst, Sussex, where he also served as Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Billingshurst, Rudgwick and North West Shipley District of the Horsham Union, Sussex. He was a member of the United Hospitals Cricket XI.


GEORGE BECKETT ROBATHAN (1845-1910). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

George Beckett Robathan (1845-1910) [Epsom College 1857-1860. Rugby XV. Captain of Cricket XI] was the son of Edward Robathan, surgeon, of Risca, South Wales, and brother of Dr John William Robathan, M.D. [Epsom College 1857-1860]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital. In general practice at Newport, Monmouthshire, and Surgeon for Pontymister Iron and Tin Works, and Risca Chemical Works. He was Captain of the United Hospitals Rugby XV.


JOHN ORTON (1845-1903). M.B., B.Ch. (Birmingham), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.P.H. (Eng.).

John Orton (1845-1903) [Epsom College 1856-1860] was the son of John Orton, surgeon, of Foleshill, Warwickshire, and brother of Dr Edward William Orton [Epsom College 1856-1859]. He received his medical training at Birmingham University where he was the Ingleby Scholar. He went into general practice at Foleshill, Warwickshire, where he was also Medical Officer for the Foleshill, Exhall and Keresley District and Workhouse, Foleshill Union, and Medical Officer of Health for Coventry.


GEORGE CHRISTOPHER TAYLER (1845-1912). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), M.D. (Lond.), F.R.C.S. (Eng.).

George Christopher Tayler (1845-1912) [Epsom College 1857-1860] was the son of Christopher Tayler, surgeon, of Trowbridge, Wiltshire. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Trowbridge, Wiltshire, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Trowbridge District of the Melksham Union. He was President of the Bath and Bristol Branch of the British Medical Association, and Surgeon to the 2nd Wiltshire Royal Volunteer Corps.


JOHN DAY JONES (1845-1926). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), M.D. (Lond.).

John Day Jones (1845-1926) [Epsom College 1861-1863] was the son of Dr C. R. Jones, of Torrington, Devon, and brother of Dr Charles Trickey Jones [Epsom College 1864-1867], and George Stawell Jones [Epsom College 1867-1871]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital. It is stated in the Epsom College Register (1855-1924) that Dr Jones was resident in New Zealand from 1876, but the Medical Directory records that he was in general practice in Liverpool in 1903. No further details are known.


JOHN ROBERT WALKER (1845-1945). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Robert Walker (1845-1945) [Epsom College 1855-1860] was the son of J. B. Walker, surgeon, of Maida Hill, London, and brother of Edward Robinson Walker [Epsom College 1862-1865], Henry Pennington Walker [Epsom College 1862-1865], and father of John Clive Walker, O.B.E. [Epsom College 1896-1899]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at St John’s Wood, London, where he was also Honorary Surgeon for the Home for Widows and Daughters of the Clergy, and Medical Officer for the Kilburn Dispensary. He was an Honorary Surgeon to the St Peter’s Home, Kilburn, and late Resident Surgeon at Jarrow Infirmary. From 1870 to 1871 he served as a surgeon with the International Ambulance at Beaumont, Saarbrucken and Metz, was awarded the Medal and Diploma of the French Society (1870-1871), and the German War Medal and ribbon 1870. He died in his 100th year, 1945.


JOHN GEORGE RANDALL (1845-1881). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John George Randall (1845-1881) [Epsom College 1856-1863] was the son of John Randall, F.R.C.S., of Portman Street, London, and brother of Frank Pope Randall [Epsom College 1865-1870]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital. After medical qualification he joined the Indian Medical Service as a surgeon. He died in 1881, aged 36 years. No further details known.


HENRY FREDERIC NORRIS (c. 1845-1873). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Edin.).

Henry Frederic Norris (c. 1845-1873) [Epsom College 1857-1861] was the son of H. E. Norris, surgeon, of Charmouth, Dorset, and brother of Hensleigh Norris [Epsom College 1881-1882]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice in New Zealand. He died there in 1873, aged about 28 years. No further details known.


CHARLES SAGE TICEHURST (c. 1845-1916). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), M.R.C.P. (Edin.).

Charles Sage Ticehurst (c. 1845-1916) [Epsom College 1856-1857] was the son of Frederic Ticehurst, J.P., surgeon, of Hastings, Sussex, and brother of Dr Augustus Rowland Ticehurst, V.D. [Epsom College 1856-1857], Robert Ticehurst [Epsom College 1856-1857], and Edward Ticehurst [Epsom College 1856-1857]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Hawkhurst, Kent. He was a Fellow of the Obstetrical Society of London; a Fellow of the Society of Medical Officers of Health, and Surgeon-Major to the 3rd Volunteer Brigade, Duke of Connaught’s Hampshire Regiment. He was a late Medical Officer of Health for Petersfield R.D.C., and Medical Officer for Petersfield Cottage Hospital.


WILLIAM ALFRED RENSHAW (c. 1845-1892). M.D. (Brux.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William Alfred Renshaw (c. 1845-1892) [Epsom College (no dates recorded)] was the son of Jeremiah Renshaw, surgeon, of Altrincham, Cheshire, and brother of Dr Charles Jeremiah Renshaw, M.D. [Epsom College 1855-1858]. He received his medical training at Manchester University. At various times he was Visiting Medical Officer at the Hospital for Sick Children, Manchester; Surgeon for the Tongoy Railway Company, Chile, and Surgeon for the Pacific Steam Navigation Company and Blackwall Packet Line, India and Australia. He then went into general practice at Sale, Manchester.


HENRY FRANK EGBERT HARRISON (1845-1923). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Frank Egbert Harrison (1845-1923) [Epsom College 1860-1863] was the son of Francis Harrison, surgeon, of Fareham, Hampshire. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Shepherd’s Bush, London, where he was Medical Officer for the 5th District, and Public Vaccinator for the 3rd District, Fulham Green. He was also Medical Officer of Health for Hammersmith, London.


CHARLES DORRINGTON BATT (1845-1926). M.B. (Lond.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), J.P.

Charles Dorrington Batt (1845-1926) [Epsom College 1855-1862] was the son of E. A. Batt, surgeon, of Witney, Oxfordshire, and brother of John Walker Batt [Epsom College 1856-1860]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, taking First-Class Honours in the M.B. examination. He then went into general practice at Witney, Oxfordshire. He served as a J.P. for the County of Oxfordshire.
