JOHN HENRY FENOULHET (1857-1899). M.A. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

John Henry Fenoulhet (1857-1899) [Epsom College 1872-1876] was the son of A. C. Fenoulhet, surgeon, of Wyke Regis, Dorset. He received his medical education at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and St Mary’s Hospital. He died in 1899, aged 42 years. No further details known.


FREDERICK WILLIAM WALKER (1857-1913). M.B., C.M. (Aberdeen), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frederick William Walker (1857-1913) [Epsom College 1872-1875] was the son of W. H. Walker, surgeon, of Aldbrough, Darlington, County Durham, and brother of Dr George Abraham Walker, M.D. [Epsom College 1867-1871], and Dr Charles Edward Walker, M.D. [Epsom College 1867-1873]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh and Aberdeen Universities, and went into general practice at Aldbrough, Darlington. He was Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Barton District of the Darlington Union, and the Aldborough District of the Richmond Union.




GEORGE JOHN CRESSY (1857-1940). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

George John Cressy (1857-1940) [Epsom College 1875-1875] was the son of W. E. Cressy, surgeon, of Wallington, Surrey, and brother of Dr Charles James Cressy [Epsom College 1875-1876], and Dr Arthur Zell Claydon Cressy [Epsom College 1875-1878]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Crawley and Three Bridges, Sussex, where he was Honorary Surgeon to Crawley Hospital, the Brighton Railway Company, and the East Sussex Constabulary. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the St John Ambulance Brigade, and previously Surgeon to the Mansfield and Woodhouse Hospitals.


CHARLES GEORGE SATCHELL (born 1858). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Charles George Satchell (born 1858) [Epsom College 1869-1876. Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of W. C. Satchell, surgeon, of Tunbridge Wells, brother of Robert Evan Satchell [Epsom College 1871-1875], and Harry Carrol Satchell [Epsom College 1874-1876]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital. He then emigrated to Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand. No further details known.


HIGHETT PHILLIP WESTBURY (born 1858). B.A. (Cantab.), L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), & L.M.

Highett Phillip Westbury (born 1858) [Epsom College 1874-1876] was the son of Philip Westbury, farmer, of Burbage, Wiltshire. He received his medical education at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and St Mary’s Hospital. He then emigrated to Bilbao, Spain where he engaged in general practice. He is not recorded after 1906.


JOSEPH JAMES WILLIAM FARR (1858-1946). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

Joseph James William Farr (1858-1946) [Epsom College 1870-1874] was the son of Frederick Farr, surveyor, of Dunstable, Bedfordshire, and brother of Dr Frederick Arthur Farr [Epsom College 1866-1866], and Dr Ernest Farr [Epsom College 1870-1870]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and went into general practice at Kensington, London.


JOHN FULLER SPONG (1858-1944). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), D.P.H.

John Fuller Spong (1858-1944) [Epsom College 1869-1876] was the son of W. N. Spong, F.R.C.S. of Faversham, Kent, and brother of Dr William Spong [Epsom College 1869-1874]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Tooting, South London.


JOHN HERBERT CUOLAHAN (1858-1927). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

John Herbert Cuolahan (1858-1927) [Epsom College 1870-1876] was the son of Dr Hugh Cuolahan, of Bermondsey, South London, and brother of Dr Archibald Cuolahan [Epsom College 1872-1876], and Frederick Hugh Cuolahan [Epsom College 1875-1876]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Bermondsey, South London.


EDWARD CLARKSON (1858-1922). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.) & L.M., L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Edward Clarkson (1858-1922) [Epsom College 1870-1873] was the son of F. G. Clarkson, surgeon, of Darlington, Co. Durham. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Kilburn Park Road, London.


JAMES BROMLEY HOWELL (1858-1937). M.R.C.S. (Eng.).

James Bromley Howell (1858-1937) [Epsom College 1870-1874. Rugby XV] was the son of T. S. Howell, surgeon, of Wandsworth, South London, and brother of Dr Thomas Arthur Ives Howell, J.P. [Epsom College 1867-1874]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Wandsworth, South London. He was previously Clinical Assistant at the Brompton Hospital.


WILLIAM JOHN HARVEY FLETCHER (1858-1914). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William John Harvey Fletcher (1858-1914) [Epsom College 1873-1876] was the son of William Fletcher, surgeon, of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. He received his medical education at both Manchester and Edinburgh Universities, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Uttoxeter District and Workhouse, Staffordshire, and the Leigh and Sudbury Districts, of the Uttoxeter Union. He was previously Assistant Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary.


HUGH WILLIAM MOOR (1858-1898). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Edin.).

Hugh William Moor (1858-1898) [Epsom College 1867-1874] was the son of W. H. Moor, surgeon, of Furneaux Pelham, Hertfordshire. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Brighton, Sussex. He died at the early age of 40 years. No further details known.


ARTHUR WILLIAM EGERTON BRYDGES BARRETT (1858-1894). L.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. & L.M. (Edin.).

Arthur William Egerton Brydges Barrett (1858-1894) [Epsom College 1869-1871] was the son of Dr Thomas Barrett, of Bath. He received his medical education at the Royal United Hospitals, Bath, and St Mary’s Hospital. He enlisted as a Surgeon in the Royal Navy, but died at the age of 36 years. No further details known.


REGINALD ARCHFIELD FERGUSSON (born 1858). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), & L.M.

Reginald Archfield Fergusson (born 1858) [Epsom College 1870-1871] was the son of Dr W. E. L. Fergusson, of Claremont Square, London. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University. The Epsom College Register (1855-1905) suggests that he emigrated to Bakersfield, California, USA, but no further details are known.


THOMAS EDWARD ROGERS (1858-1893). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Edward Rogers (1858-1893) [Epsom College 1871-1877. Captain of Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of Edward Rogers, surgeon, of Stokenham, South Devon. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Charing Cross Hospital, where he achieved 1st Class Honours in his undergraduate examination. He then entered general practice at Bartholomew Close, London. He was previously Resident Medical Officer at the Royal General Dispensary, Aldersgate, London. He died in 1893, aged 35 years.



THOMAS PERCY TAYLOR [afterwards TAYLOR-LOWE] (1858-1939). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Percy Taylor (1858-1939) [Epsom College 1871-1873] was the son of Thomas Taylor, surgeon, of Bocking, Essex. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Braintree, Essex.


PHILIP VINCENT (1858- c. 1900). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), & L.M. (Edin.).

Philip Vincent (1858- c. 1900) [Epsom College 1871-1877. Rugby XV] was the son of Philip Vincent, surgeon, of Camborne, Cornwall. He received his medical education at University College Hospital. He served for a time as Surgeon for the Cunard Steamship and the Great West Steamship Lines, and was Surgeon on the Royal Mail Steam Ship Line ‘Samaria’. The Epsom College Register records that he emigrated to Waltham, Massachusetts, USA, and died there in about 1900. He would have been about 32 years old. No further details are known.


HENRY BLATHERWICK (1858-1924). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Blatherwick (1858-1924) [Epsom College 1871-1874] was the son of Thomas Blatherwick, Staff Surgeon in the Army, and brother of Thomas Blatherwick, a member of the England Rugby XV [Epsom College 1868-1873]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Dulwich, South London.


OSWALD SAMUEL WRAITH (1858-1941). L.R.C.P., F.R.C.S. (Edin.), M.D. (Durham).

Oswald Samuel Wraith (1858-1941) [Epsom College 1870-1872] was the son of S. H. Wraith, surgeon, of Over Darwen, Lancashire. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Darwen, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Darwen District of the Blackburn Union.


LEONARD HENRY ARMSTRONG (1858-1942). B.A. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Leonard Henry Armstrong (1858-1942) [Epsom College 1871-1877. Captain of the Rugby XV. Propert Prize] was the son of Leonard Armstrong, surgeon, of Newton Abbot, Devon. He won a Science Scholarship to Clare College, Cambridge, and completed his medical training at St Mary’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Harrogate, Yorkshire.


CHARLES JAMES CRESSY (1858-1935). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Charles James Cressy (1858-1935) [Epsom College 1875-1876] was the son of W. E. Cressy, surgeon, of Wallington, Surrey, brother of Dr George John Cressy [Epsom College 1875-1875], and Dr Arthur Zell Claydon Cressy [Epsom College 1875-1878]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Wroughton, Swindon, Wiltshire, where he was also Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the 3rd District of the Highworth and Swindon Union.




HERBERT RYDING MOSSE (1858-1945). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), M.D. (Durham).

Herbert Ryding Mosse (1858-1945) [Epsom College 1869-1877. prefect. Rugby XV] was the son of J. R. Mosse, surgeon, of Fareham, Hampshire, brother of the Rev. Canon Charles Wynne Mosse [Epsom College 1864-1869], and John Kinchin Mosse, Paymaster-in-Chief, Royal Navy [Epsom College 1859-1862]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and was appointed Resident Medical Officer at the Bolingbroke Hospital, South London. He then went into general practice at Bognor Regis, Sussex.


LOCKHART EDWARD WALTER STEPHENS (1858-1940). C.B.E., M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), D.L.

Lockhart Edward Walter Stephens (1858-1940) [Epsom College 1870-1877. prefect. Sterry Prize] was the son of Dr D. W. Stephens, of Emsworth, Hampshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, where he was awarded the Treasurers Gold Medal for Surgery. He went into general practice at Emsworth, Hampshire, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Warblington U.D.C. He was a Deputy Lieutenant for Hampshire; County Director of the British Red Cross Society for Hampshire, and Honorary Secretary of the Southern Branch of the British Medical Association (1922-1927). He was also Chairman of the Portsmouth Division of the British Medical Association (1923-1924), and a member of the Central Council of the British Medical Association. He founded the Victoria Hospital at Portsmouth.


MARMADUKE PITTARD (1858-1945). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Marmaduke Pittard (1858-1945) [Epsom College 1870-1876. Rugby XV] was the son of S. R. Pittard, surgeon, of Lamb’s Conduit Place, London. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, where he won the Silver Medal in Anatomy. He was then appointed Demonstrator in Anatomy at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, before entering general practice at Cardiff, where he served also as a Police Surgeon for Cardiff.


FREDERICK EASTES (1858-1897). M.B. (Durham), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), M.D. (Durham), L.S.Sc.

Frederick Eastes (1858-1897) [Epsom College 1871-1876. prefect] was the son of Sylvester Eastes, surgeon, of Folkestone, Kent, and brother of James Smith Eastes [Epsom College 1860-1865]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital and the Newcastle School of Medicine, and then went into general practice in Folkestone, Kent. He was Honorary Medical Officer for the Victoria Hospital, Folkestone. He died of diabetic coma, aged 39 years [this was 23 years before the discovery of Insulin by Frederick Banting and Charles Best].


FREDERICK HERBERT LANE (1858-1926). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frederick Herbert Lane (1858-1926) [Epsom College 1872-1877. head prefect. Hodgkin Prize. Carr Exhibition] was the son of Henry Lane, surgeon, of Stratford-on-Avon. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to University College Hospital, where he won the Silver Medal for Surgery. He was appointed prosector of anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons, and then went into general practice at Burford, Oxfordshire. He was also Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Witney Union, and sometime Surgeon for Burford Cottage Hospital.


JOHN GRIFFIN (1859-1895). M.B., C.M. (Edin.).

John Griffin (1859-1895) [Epsom College 1870-1878. Captain of Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr R. W. W. Griffin, of Southampton, and brother of the Rev. Richard Edward Griffin [Epsom College 1871-1879], Major William Wandby Griffin, R.F.A. [Epsom College 1873-1877], and Dr Frederick Thresher Griffin [Epsom College 1873-1878]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Southampton. He was a member of the Edinburgh University Rugby XV; Captain of the Hampshire County Rugby XV, and a member of both the Scotland Rugby XV and the Wales Rugby XV. He died in 1895, aged 36 years. No further details known.


SIR CHARLES O’BRIEN HARDING (1859-1929). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), J.P.

Charles O’Brien Harding (1859-1929) [Epsom College 1869-1877. Rugby XV] was the son of F. J. Harding, surgeon, of Uckfield, Sussex, and brother of the Rev. George Lowdell Harding [Epsom College 1865-1872]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Eastbourne. He was Mayor of Eastbourne (1902-1903; 1915-1920; 1924-1925), J.P. for Eastbourne and a Freeman of the Borough of Eastbourne. He was also a Member of the East Sussex County Council. Sir Charles Harding was a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy; Surgeon to the British Home and Hospital for Incurables, London, and Chairman of the Princess Alice Memorial Hospital. He was also Chairman of the Eastbourne Division of the British Medical Association, President of the Sussex Branch of the British Medical Association, and a Member of the Hampshire County and England Rugby XVs. “Sir Charles Harding will be remembered locally mainly on account of his extraordinary interest in municipal and other public affairs in Eastbourne. His record of service in public life is probably unsurpassed by that of any other medical man.”


FREDERICK WILLIAM HENRY PENFOLD (1859-1921). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Frederick William Henry Penfold (1859-1921) [Epsom College 1871-1878. Carr Prize] was the son of Henry Penfold, surgeon, of Rainham and Newington, Kent. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Rainham, Kent. He was Honorary Surgeon and Physician at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Chatham, and District Medical Officer for the Rainham District of the Milton Union.


EDWARD HERBERT SQUIRE (1859-1946). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Edward Herbert Squire (1859-1946) [Epsom College 1870-1871] was the son of S. N. Squire, surgeon, of Wivenhoe, Essex, and brother of the Rev. Samuel Nathaniel Squire [Epsom College 1870-1874]. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Wivenhoe, where he was District Medical Officer for the Tendring Union, and Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Lexden and Winstree Union, Essex.


BENJAMIN WILFRED THOMAS (1859-1931). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Benjamin Wilfred Thomas (1859-1931) [Epsom College 1872-1878] was the son of Benjamin Thomas, F.R.C.S. of Llanelly, South Wales, brother of Dr John Raglan Thomas, M.D. [Epsom College 1869-1872], and Dr Walter Duncan Thomas [Epsom College 1869-1875]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Charing Cross Hospital, and then entered general practice at Welwyn Garden City. He was Surgeon to the Hertfordshire County Police.


CHARLES FREDERICK RUMBOLL (1859-1935). V.D., M.D. (Durham), B.S., M.R.C.S. (Eng.), J.P., D.L.

Charles Frederick Rumboll (1859-1935) [Epsom College 1872-1876] was the son of C. L. Rumboll, farmer, of Calne, Wiltshire. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Durham University. He passed the M.D. with honours and was Prox.Access. for the Gold Medal, in 1886. He then entered general practice at Melksham, Wiltshire; was Medical Officer for the 3rd District of the Melksham Union; Surgeon and Senior Medical Officer to the Melksham Hospital, and Medical Officer to the Melksham Union. Apart from this, he was a Lieutenant-Colonel of the 4th Wiltshire Regiment, a Barrister-at-Law of the Inner Temple (1897) and Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Wiltshire. He served as a J.P. for the County of Wiltshire, and was Chairman of the Trowbridge Division of the British Medical Association.


THOMAS HARRISON DAVISON (1859-1930). M.D., C.M. (Edin.), D.P.H.

Thomas Harrison Davison (1859-1930) [Epsom College 1874-1876] was the son of R. S. Davison, surgeon, of Newburn, Blaydon-on-Tyne, Tyne and Wear. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Odiham, Hampshire, where he was Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the No. 2 District, Hartley Wintney. He was also Surgeon to the Hampshire County Constabulary. .


RALPH GEORGE HEATHCOTE (1859-1936). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Ralph George Heathcote (1859-1936) [Epsom College 1872-1875] was the son of Ralph Heathcote, surgeon, of Manchester. He received his medical education at Owen’s College (Manchester University), and entered into general practice at Morecambe, Lancashire, but later at West Didsbury, Manchester. He was sometime Assistant Medical Officer for Chorlton United Hospitals.


JAMES PETER FENOULHET (1859-1914). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Edin.)

James Peter Fenoulhet (1859-1914) [Epsom College 1872-1878. Rugby XV] was the son of A. C. Fenoulhet, surgeon, of Wyke Regis, Dorset, and brother of Dr John Henry Fenoulhet [Epsom College 1872-1876]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and was then employed by the Union Steam Ship Company as a surgeon aboard the steam yacht ‘Samaria’. He later emigrated to Muizenberg, Cape Colony, South Africa, and died at Durban in 1914. No other details known.


ARTHUR HENRY ROBERTS (1859-1930). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Henry Roberts (1859-1930) [Epsom College 1872-1874] was the son of J. H. Roberts, surgeon, of Finchley Road, London, and brother of Dr Gordon Money Roberts [Epsom College 1859-1861]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Malling R.D.C., Kent, and before that was Medical Officer of Health for Wrotham Sanitary District. He was sometime Surgeon to the New South Wales Emigration Service, Australia, and Anaesthetist at the Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He was a member of the Middlesex County Rugby XV.


WALTER ERNEST WALTER (1859-1891). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Walter Ernest Walter (1859-1891) [Epsom College 1873-1875] was the son of W. W. Walter, surgeon, of Stoke-under-Hamdon, Somerset, and brother of Dr William Henry Walter, M.D. [Epsom College 1870-1871]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and went into general practice at Marshfield, Gloucestershire, where he was Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Chipping Sodbury Union. He died by his own hand, aged 32 years.


HENRY FRANCIS CORBOULD (1859-1892). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Francis Corbould (1859-1892) [Epsom College 1873-1876] was the son of H. H. Corbould, surgeon, of Tyndale Place, Islington, London. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Charing Cross Hospital, and was later appointed Surgeon to the Faraday Cable Expedition (1881). He then emigrated to Demerara, Guyana, where he was a Medical Officer, but died of enteric fever in 1892, aged 33 years.


ARTHUR ERNEST MARSACK (1859-1934). L.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Ernest Marsack (1859-1934) [Epsom College 1871-1878. Rugby XV] was the son of Blackall Marsack, surgeon, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital and Edinburgh University. He then went into general practice at Tunbridge Wells, where he was also Surgeon Captain to the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He emigrated later to New Zealand, where he held the appointment of Honorary Physician to the Auckland Hospital and Medical Officer to the Jubilee Institute for the Blind.


BINGLEY GIBBS PULLIN (1860-1948). M.R.C.S., (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Bingley Gibbs Pullin (1860-1948) [Epsom College 1872-1877] was the son of T. H. S. Pullin, surgeon, of Sidmouth, Devon, and brother of Percival Pullin [Epsom College 1869-1871], and Dr Frank Bingley Pullin [Epsom College 1869-1872]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Sidmouth, Devon, where he was Surgeon to Sidmouth Cottage Hospital. He was previously Clinical Assistant at the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital.


ERNEST FARR (1860-1940). M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Ernest Farr (1860-1940) [Epsom College 1870-1873] was the son of Frederick Farr, surveyor, of Dunstable, Bedfordshire, and brother of Dr Frederick Arthur Farr [Epsom College 1866-1866], and Dr Joseph James William Farr [Epsom College 1870-1874]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and went into general practice at Andover, Hampshire. He was also Medical Officer for Andover Cottage Hospital; Medical Officer for the Andover Rural and Urban Districts, and Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the No 1 District and Workhouse, Andover Union.


CHARLES LEVER PINNIGER (1860-1923). L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Charles Lever Pinniger (1860-1923) [Epsom College 1872-1878] was the son of Broome Pinniger, surgeon, of Ryde, Isle of Wight. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Finsbury Park, North London.


BARRINGTON WILLIAM MUDD (1860-1950). M.B., C.M. (Aberdeen), J.P.

Barrington William Mudd (1860-1950) [Epsom College 1873-1873] was the son of B. R. Mudd, surgeon, of Storrington, Sussex. He received his medical education at Aberdeen University, and went into general practice at Storrington, Sussex. He was previously Medical Officer and Surgeon at Epsom and Ewell Hospital. He was a J.P. for the County of Sussex, and during the First World War he served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C. (1914-1918).


ARCHIBALD CUOLAHAN (1860-1912). M.D. (Chicago).

Archibald Cuolahan (1860-1912) [Epsom College 1872-1876. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr Hugh Cuolahan, of Bermondsey, South London, brother of Dr John Herbert Cuolahan [Epsom College 1870-1876], and Frederick Hugh Cuolahan [Epsom College 1875-1875]. He emigrated to the United States, where he attended the University of Chicago Medical School. After qualification he was appointed Medical Officer of Health and Coroner, at Merrill, Wisconsin


ALFRED EGERTON MANNERS SMITH (1860-1933). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Alfred Egerton Manners Smith (1860-1933) [Epsom College 1872-1877. Cricket XI] was the son of Surgeon General C. M. Smith, Bengal Army, of Kempsey, Worcestershire. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Nether Stowey, Bridgwater, Somerset. He was Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the 8th and 9th Districts, Bridgwater Union. In 1885, he took part in the North-West Rebellion Conflict in Saskatchewan, Canada, and was awarded the medal. He played for the United Hospitals Rugby XV.
