ARCHITECTURE The hotel architecture reflects four distinct designs embracing the famous trademarks of the city of Istanbul:
The Dolmabahce Palace, a blend of various European architectural styles, was built between 1843-1856 by Karabet Balyan, the court architect of Sultan Abdulmecid. The Ottoman sultans had many palaces in all ages, but the Topkapi was the official residence until the completion of the Dolmabahce Palace. Our Dolmabahce Palace lobby reflects an amazing atmosphere with a 21m high ceiling and 2800m2 lobby surfaces including a generous lobby terrace with the view of a skylight and stained glass ceiling with the traditional design of ottoman art.
The Galata Bridge is the oldest recorded bridge that spans the Golden Horn in Istanbul. The bridge was built during the reign of Justinian the Great in the 6th century. Sultan Bayezid II solicited a design and Leonardo da Vinci created an unprecedented single span 240 m long and 24 m wide bridge for the Golden Horn, which would become the longest bridge in the world of that period if constructed. However, the ambitious design did not meet with the Sultan's approval. Another Italian artist, Michelangelo was also invited to design a bridge for Istanbul. Michelangelo rejected the proposal, and the idea of building a bridge across the Golden Horn was shelved until the 19th century.
The Maiden Tower was first built by the ancient Athenian general Alcibiades in 408 BC to control the movements of the Persian ships in the Bosphorus strait. The tower was later enlarged and rebuilt as a fortress by the Byzantine emperor Alexius Comnenus in 1110 AD, and was rebuilt and restored several times by the Ottoman Turks, most significantly in 1509 and 1763. The most recent facelift was made in 1998.

Examples of the company’s work can now be found in more than 20 countries. At Mardan Palace ICM designed and built the 400,000 gallon aquarium around our underwater restaurant- one of the most unique and exciting aquarium projects to hit the entertainment sector.
Lighting Design International was established in 1981. Sally Storey, Design Director was always passionate about windows, daylight and stairs and the issue of how to get light into buildings. The mainstay of the company's work today is from private homes to shopping centres, hotels, restaurants and museums. This unique amphitheatre is located close to the beach area. KIDS FACILITIES Especially designed facilities are offered for children aged 4- 12 with a specific timing per age group. The facilities will be manned by trained personnel from 10:00- 12:30 and 14:30-18:00.
AQUATIC ADVENTURES Dramatic waterfall features with seven different levels of water fountains and beautiful statues will be welcoming our guests. One of the largest hotel outdoor swimming pools (total 16.000 m2) in the world is surrounded by a water street with Sultans golden horn gondola service. In our lagoon-like decorated pool that stretches down towards the beach, we provide one of the world famous laser shows together with water animation and sound. The feature aquarium is situated in the middle of the pool and below the pool's surface in our highly anticipated restaurant. Viewing is available from inside the restaurant and from the pool. Cast Acrylic was used to create a shelf in which swimmers can stand on the acrylic and look down into the shark tank. Alongside the massive pool is a 350,000 gallon swim reef designed and built by ICM. The swim reef allows visitors to swim amongst fish in a controlled environment. The design is a first of its kind in this region. Our Swim reef offers an enjoyable adventure for all, where guests can interact with 1100 different fish. The Swim reef is an artificial pool of 900 m2 with a depth of 1.4 metres and 3 deep water pockets of 2.8 meters. Guest will be instructed by a guide before experiencing the underwater wonders of the reef, where they can swim and snorkel with an exciting variety of fish. SPORT FACILITIES
GOLF In the near future, Mardan Palace is extending its world class facilities with a 72 PAR signature Golf Course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Glittering lakes and majestic trees will frame many of the proposed golf holes, while natural dunes near the property provide an ideal setting for a truly enjoyable and memorable golf experience. The name Nicklaus has long been associated with greatness on a golf course. The name Nicklaus also stands for superior golf course design, a result of Jack's more than three decades as a renowned golf course designer. Just as Jack once raised golf to a higher level, Nicklaus Design has elevated the standards of golf course design. The result of that dedication and ingenuity is hundreds of spectacular courses worldwide. Yet as unique as each design is, they all share the Nicklaus' philosophy of working closely with clients, enhancing the natural environment and creating courses that are both challenging and enjoyable for players of all levels.
