SEANC (State Employees Association of North Carolina) Scholarship Foundation Scholarships

Each year, the SEANC Scholarship Foundation offers academic scholarships to the dependents of SEANC members. Thirty awards are annual scholarships (15 merit based, 15 financial need) for four-year college or university students. Eight awards are annual scholarships (four merit based, four financial need) for those students enrolled in a junior college, community college or technical school. Only SEANC members or their dependents are eligible to receive scholarships. Applicants must apply through a local SEANC district. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2015-2016 school year.

The scholarship application is available online at http://www.seanc.org/membership/scholarship and must be returned to the Scholarship Chairperson of the SEANC district of which the parent is a member.

Southern Illinois University:

Out Of State Scholar

Students recognized as an Out of State Scholar receive a High Achiever Alternate Tuition Rate equivalent to that of standard in-state tuition rate. This amounts to a savings of more than $50,000 for Freshmen over four years and $25,000 for Transfer Students over two years.

Criteria: Apply to SIU and be admitted as a first time freshman at SIU, plus one of the following: A) Earn an ACT composite score of 26 or higher B) Earn a SAT Critical Reading and Mathematics score of 1170 or higher C) Be offered the Dean's Academic Scholarship for Freshmen

SportQuest Playing With Purpose Scholarship

High school 10th grade, 11th grade, and 12th grade student athletes who meet the following criteria may wish to apply:

  • C average or above

  • varsity-level athlete in one or more sports (see website for approved list)

  • a “committed follower of Christ who embodies the Playing With Purpose message” (see website for details).

$2000 for winners, plus additional opportunities for applicants and finalists (i.e., summer sport ministries, introduction to other potential scholarship opportunities, award certificate, press release)

St. Bonaventure University Discovery Within Community Scholarship Program

Seniors planning to apply to St. Bonaventure University who are planning to major in one of the following STEM-related disciplines may apply: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, or Physics. Scholarship criteria are based on both merit and need.

Twenty-five students will be selected to receive scholarships of $3500-$6500 annually for study at St. Bonaventure University in one of the following STEM majors: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.

High school seniors who will enter college in Fall, 2015 (2 or 4 year college/university located in the US) and current undergraduate college students continuing their studies in Fall, 2015 can enter. TCI (Tall Clubs International) Scholarships

Students entering college in the upcoming fall who are under age 21 and meet Tall Clubs International height requirement minimum (5’10 for women; 6’2 for men) may be eligible. UNCG Guarantee Scholarships

The UNCG Guarantee Scholarship helps in-state students graduate from UNCG in four years with little to no debt. Awarded to graduating high school seniors who apply to and are admitted to UNCG for fall enrollment and who meet the following criteria:

-North Carolina resident for tuition purposes

-SAT of 1000 or above on verbal and math or ACT Composite of 21 or above

-pursuing first undergraduate degree

-graduated from high school within past 8 months of first enrollment at UNCG

-will be enrolled full-time at UNCG

-Family income does not exceed 100% of poverty level

-qualify for federal student financial aid

-must complete the FAFSA


Helps meet all expenses for in-state students so they can graduate from UNCG in 4 years with little to no debt. Also provides a support program to encourage academic and personal success.

United States Coast Guard Academy Scholarships

Three hundred candidates are admitted annually to the United States Coast Guard Academy. Criteria are: proven academic accomplishment (especially in math and the sciences, skill as an athlete, community service, motivation to embrace leadership development, and an unwavering desire to serve their country and humanity.

Full-ride scholarship to US Coast Guard Academy: tuition, room, and board are all included. Cadets also receive pay totaling approximately $12,000 per year to cover required expenses and supplies. Upon graduation, graduates serve at least five years as commissioned officers with the US Coast Guard.

To qualify for the Early Action program, all forms must arrive at the Admissions Office by 10/15/2014. Otherwise, all forms must be received at the Admissions Office by 1/15/2015.

United States Military Academy West Point

The application process to the United States Military Academy West Point begins during the junior year of high school. Candidates must be at least age 17 but no older than age 22 on July 1st of the year that they enter West Point. Candidates must be unmarried, not pregnant, and not legally responsible for the support of any children. Good physical and mental health is required, along with above-average strength, agility, and endurance. You must complete a Candidate Questionnaire on the website. Candidates must obtain a nomination to be eligible to compete for a spot at West Point. See the website for details on this process. You should apply for all nominations for which you are eligible during the spring of your junior year. It is important to pursue every nomination available to you. United States Naval Academy (Annapolis)

You should apply for admission between April of your junior year of high school and January of your senior year. The earlier you apply, the better. Candidates must be U.S. citizens of good moral character, at least 17 years old and not past age 23 on July 1st of the year they would enter the academy. Candidates must be unmarried, not pregnant, and with no dependents.

Full-ride scholarship is included with admission to the academy (tuition, room, board, medical, and dental expenses). Five years of active-duty service is required upon graduation.

University of Dayton, Ohio Leadership in Service Scholarship

One senior from Phillip O. Berry can be named as recipient of this scholarship. It is for use at the University of Dayton only. Criteria: an innate desire for personal development and committed to service within POB, church, or community

$10,000 ($2500/year for 4 years). Students who visit campus and file the FAFSA prior to 3/1/2015 may receive up to $4000 additional funds for textbooks (over 4 years).

Upakar Indian American Scholarship

High school seniors who were either born in India or who have at least one parent who was born in India may apply. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and high academic achievement; cumulative unadjusted GPA of over 3.6. Family income limits apply. Applicant must be U.S. citizen or green card holder.

U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Colorado)

To apply to the Academy, you must be at least age 17 but not past age 23 on July 1st of the year you enter the Academy. Applicants should be of good moral character, U.S. citizens, unmarried, and with no dependents. Official nominations are a required part of the entry process to the Academy. See website for details and instructions.

Full-ride scholarship is included with admission (tuition, room, board, medical care, monthly stipend, interest-free loans to cover emergency situations if necessary, and access to a low-cost government-sponsored life insurance program. Minimum of eight years service in U.S. Air Force is required after graduation, (the last three of which can be in inactive reserves.)

USDA/1890 National Scholars Program in the Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resource Sciences

The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program will provide full tuition, employment, employee benefits, fees, books, use of a laptop, printer, and software while on scholarship and room and board each year for 4 years to students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at specific Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions (see brochure for list and details). High school seniors who meet the following criteria may apply: U.S. citizen, minimum high school GPA of 3.0, minimum verbal/math/written SAT of 1500 (or 1000 minimum on verbal/math SAT for institutions which accept only verbal/math SAT) or ACT composite of 21, planning to attend one of 18 specific 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions, planning to study Agriculture, Food, Natural Resource Sciences, or other related disciplines, and demonstrate leadership and community service. WACE Twelfth Annual National Co-Op Scholarship Program

To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale and must apply and be accepted for 2015-2016 at one of the colleges/universities that are WACE partner institutions. Johnson & Wales University is one of these; see website for list of partnering colleges/universities. Students must complete the application (available on WACE website) including a typed one-page essay (see website for instructions). WACE encourages minority and female students as well as students interested in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology to apply.

William Peace University Scholarships and Awards

Students applying to William Peace University are potentially eligible. Merit scholarships are awarded based on weighted cumulative GPA and the highest combined SAT/ACT critical reading and math scores. Scholarships are also offered in the areas of performing arts, leadership, and more.


Merit scholarships range up to $15,000/year and are renewable.
