The Department of Education and Science wishes to inform the Authorities of Post-Primary Schools that economic history, as a separate subject, will be examined for the last time in the Leaving Certificate examination in June 2005. Therefore, it will not be available to students commencing a Leaving Certificate programme in September 2004.
Provision for the study of economic history is made within the revised Leaving Certificate history, at higher and ordinary levels, which will be implemented in schools in September 2004 and will be examined for the first time in June 2006.
Please provide a copy of this circular to the appropriate representatives of parents and teachers for transmission to individual parents and teachers.
