  Trials for County Teams will be held at the Westgate Badminton Centre, by invitation of the Selectors, on September 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 7.30 to 10.00. Players will all pay for each session they attend. The County Restricted will take place on 30 September and 1 October, after which the selectors will meet to confirm their Nominations for 1^st and 2^nd Team players. Only players who have played in either the Open Singles event, the Trials or the County Restricted will be considered for Nomination.

  County Club will not operate on a playing basis this season due to lack of support last year. It will continue to be recognised by Badminton England as an administrative entity for the purpose of affiliating players who need to be affiliated to Badminton England through a Senior Club in order to represent Hampshire in Senior or Masters ICC events.

In order for your members to be “legally” affiliated and insured, Club Officers are reminded to make every effort to ensure that all fees, both BE and HBA, are received at Badminton England before last year’s cover expires, i.e.by the end of October 2011. Last year a lot of clubs were still late completing their affiliations, even though they had a month longer to complete the job. BE should have contacted each Club Secretary individually and made sure that you all know what to do. Please make a start as soon as you start back for the year and send it all off as soon as most of your members have paid their fees to you. Latecomers and late deciders can always be added later. It is important to your members and to the people they play against during the season that everyone has proper insurance cover.

Hampshire Youth Badminton Trust - PLEASE HELP!
Steve Harvey made the point in his report to the AGM (see page 20) that he estimates that the Trust has enough funds to meet the needs of those young players who apply for help for only the next 4-5 years. Demand is outstripping supply. Some groups and individuals still raise funds by means of running a draw at an event; some organizations still do make a donation to the trust to help swell the available funds. If you still do - then please continue to do so. If you used to but have somehow let this very useful cause slip out of your minds - please think whether you could start to help again. If you, your Club, your District could make a donation to this Badminton Charity which helps young players with essential costs in their development, please contact Steve - his details are on the Contacts Page - Page ??

  Southampton and District Badminton Association would like to announce the Eddie Peckham Cup for the season 2011/2012. (entries close end of October 2011)

  Winners of the cup will receive £100 and the runners up £50 (subject to number of teams entering)
  
• 
  Handicapped event (committee to decide upon handicaps)
  
• 
  Teams comprising of 3 ladies and 3 men and each mixed team will play in 3 mixed doubles making a total of 9 games.
  
• 
  Each game will be best of 3 sets to 21 points.
  
• 
  Expenses (court hire and shuttles) will be split between the 2 teams but the home team will supply the shuttles.
  

• 
  Cost to enter is £5 per team for clubs that do not play in the Southampton and District leagues and free to those clubs that do. More than one team can be entered if you wish.
  

• 
  Final will be held at the Westgate Badminton Centre in May.
