So this almost forgotten monograph written in 1904 represents a unique record of the history, culture and heritage of Zante, with many unique photographic plates showing the people and buildings in 1902-4. The author Archduke Ludwig Salvator, born on 04.08.1847 (to 1915), was the son of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II and Maria Antonietta, daughter of King Franz I of Sicily. Salvator dedicated 2 years to the research of the island’s people and culture. This two volume monograph written in 1904 therefore represents the unique historical, cultural heritage and is of inestimable value to the historical record of Zante.
