INTRODUCTION


The lil-BUDDY PRO windshield installation tool is intended to provide a safe and fast means for installing windshields in most vehicles. The lil-BUDDY PRO when properly operated retains a secure grip on one side of the windshield allowing windshield installation to be done by a single installer.
The lil-BUDDY PRO product is covered by following U.S. patents: (patent # pending) and pending U.S. and foreign patent applications. lil-BUDDY and lil-BUDDY PRO are a trademark of lil-BUDDY Corporation.

IMPORTANT

Before using the lil-BUDDY PRO prep the vehicle for windshield installation.


Base Pivot Cup Mounting


IMPORTANT

Before mounting base pivot cup, ensure the driver’s side window is clean.



  1. Using the cup as a measuring device, measure down 9” from where the top edge of windshield glass will be (Do Not Include Molding) along driver’s side sill and mark that point using your finger or a grease pencil. Refer to figure 1

  2. Position the Base Pivot Cup so the grip is approximately ½” lower on the right side with the pivot base rod centered on the 9” mark made in step one. Refer to figure 1

  3. Once positioned, pump the cup rod to secure the Base Pivot Cup to driver’s side window. Refer to figure 1


Center of Rod Should Be 9 Inches Down From Top Edge of Windshield


Right Side Of Grip Should Be Approximately ½” Lower Then The Left Side, As Shown.

IMPORTANT

DO NOT position the Base Pivot Cup so the grip is parallel with the ground. Refer to figure 2

  1. Position the Base Pivot Cup Arm so it is out away from the vehicle. Use the locking pin to lock into place. Refer to figure 3

Sliding Rod Cup Mounting


IMPORTANT

Before installing sliding rod cup ensure the outside of the windshield is clean.



  • U
    7 Inch Measurement
    sing the red line marked on the colasped-sliding rod. Measure down 7” from the top edge of the glass (Do Not Include Molding) on the driver’s side and mark that point on the edge of the windshield using your finger or a grease pencil. Refer to figure 4

  • P

    lace the Sliding Rod Cup on the windshield so the rod runs parallel with the top edge of windshield. The center of the rod should be centered on the 7” mark with the lil-BUDDY sticker just over the side edge of the windshield. Refer to figure 5

  • Once positioned, pump the cup rod to secure the Sliding Rod Cup into place. Refer to figure 5

  • Apply lifting cups to the opposite side of the windshield.

Prep Windshield


Turn windshield over on the cradle and apply chalk to the windshield if applicable.

Mount Sliding Rod to Base Pivot Rod


  • Tip windshield up and slide out rod.

  • Carefully place sliding rod mount over the tip of base pivot cup rod end. Refer to figure 7

  • Install Sliding Rod Mount with larger/deeper circular indented side up. Refer to figure 6

WARNING

Visually check cup seals before setting windshield into place. A red line showing on the cups brass pump rod indicates a bad seal. DO NOT use the lil-BUDDY Pro tool with a bad seal.

  • Properly lift windshield and extend sliding rod out for optimum clearance.

  • While supporting one side of the windshield, walk around the vehicle and fit windshield into position. Refer to figure 9, 10 & 11


DO NOT Hold Windshield High Over The Body.

Keep Windshield Close To Vehicle While Walking Around Vehicle.

DO NOT Allow Windshield To Drag Urethane On Top Drives Side Of Vehicle.

Start To Push Windshield Into Place By Passenger Side Front Tire.

CAUTION

For a proper set, windshield must be installed using the same angle as the opening on the vehicle. DO NOT set windshield bottom and then tip down into position. Refer to figure 11

  • Properly install the windshield on passenger side. Refer to figure 11

  • Once windshield is placed on the passenger side the installer returns to the driver’s side of the vehicle.

  • While supporting the end of the sliding rod mount, release the door glass mount (Refer to figure 1) and place windshield on driver’s side.

NOTE: When door glass mount is removed the installer must support the remaining weight of the windshield.
