Context of the Lesson

Aims - To investigate the reasons for the failure of the Spanish Armada to invade England and Wales in 1588.
- To evaluate the relative importance of the different reasons for the failure of the Spanish Armada.

Starter
|
Use of a powerpoint presentation with a picture of the Armada medal on the white board. Pupils will be asked a series of questions about the picture which will focus on one of the reasons why the Armada failed. (5 min)

Paired task – pupils to use evidence sheet to categorise the different reasons for the failure of the Armada and place them onto a venn diagram (10 min)
