MESKIN & HIS VETERANS NEWSPAPER FOR UNLAWFUL SOLICITATION OF CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS On February 24, 2006, I filed one of several complaints with the Florida Department of Agriculture’s Consumer Services Division against Phillip G. Meskin d/b/a Veterans Post News Newspaper for Unlawful Solicitation of Charitable Contributions and his failure to be registered as a Charity with the State of Florida, among other things. I posted this complaint on my website and sent a copy of it to Meskin, et al. On March 16, 2006, Meskin re-incorporated his Veterans Newspaper as Veterans Post News Inc., with the State of Florida as a Non-Profit Charitable Corporation. On September 15, 2006, Kraig Allen, a Field Investigator for said Consumer Services Division notified me that in fact he cited Phillip G. Meskin d/b/a Veterans Post News for Unlawful Solicitation of Charitable Contributions in Violation of Florida Statutes 496.401-496.426, as Meskin and his Newspaper were not Registered as a Charity with said Consumer Services as is required by Law. Allen further stated that after his report is reviewed by his main office in Tallahassee, Meskin could be fined up to $1,000 for each incident of said Unlawful Solicitation.
