Come to the Mesa Arizona Easter Pageant and experience the life and teachings of Jesus Christ through music, dance, and drama!
The Easter pageant began as a sunrise service in 1928. Now it is the world's largest annual outdoor Easter pageant, with a cast of more than 400—including the Johnson family of Queen Creek, Arizona. Natives of Atlanta, Georgia, they moved to Queen Creek two years ago and decided to participate in the pageant after watching it each year since their arrival. This year, they said they hoped to be able to add a little more “color” to the production and are excited to be involved in such a beautiful and majestic depiction of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Johnson family, pictured at right, include, clockwise from front left: Lauren, Heather, Jennifer (now married and the only one in the family not performing), Michael, and Joy, holding Kimberly on her lap. Kimberly, youngest in the family, will also be performing.
The 65-minute pageant is presented on a huge stage on the north lawn of the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors’ Center at 525 Main Street. It begins Tuesday, March 27, with a public-invited dress rehearsal performed in English at 7 p.m. and in Spanish at 8:30 p.m.
English performances will be Wednesday, March 28; Thursday, March 29; and Tuesday through Saturday, April 3 through 7. Spanish performances will be Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31. All performances begin promptly at 8 p.m.
There is no charge for the pageant. Metal chairs and bleacher seating is provided strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. You may also bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating on any available grass space.
Free parking is available on surrounding streets, in the unpaved lot west of Pioneer Park, and behind Dairy Queen on Main Street. For additional information, visit www.easterpageant.org or call 480-964-7164.
