The Gender, Security, and Fragile States –What Works in Gender Training conference was held January 21^st, 2008 at the Capital Hill Suites in the Nation’s Capital. This three-day workshop sought to bring in many experienced voices to isolate the gaps and outline good practice policies which could improve gender training programs.

A few key issues were raised such as the need for advocacy of gender training issues by the international media; devising a situational analysis mechanism; the need for thorough staff training; implementing accountability systems; and engaging the commitment of senior management. The conference was a great forum to discuss issues of gender and security among many sectors of governmental and non-governmental organizations. Both groups agreed on further collaboration regarding issues of information dissemination, implementation and accountability.
