Description: Clump-forming perennial with oblong, leathery leaves and a rounded, cloud-like mass of tiny, lavender-blue flowers in the summer.

Origin: Russia.

Height x width: 2 to 2.5 feet tall and wide.

Growth habit: Round.

Foliage: Sprawling basal rosette of 6- to 10-inch long oblong-elliptic, leathery leaves.

Flowers: Rounded, cloud-like mass of tiny, lavender-blue flowers on long, wiry, multi-branched, nearly leafless stems that rise above the foliage. Blooms in summer.

Culture: Full sun and well-drained soil.

Pests and problems: Crown and root rot, so provide good air circulation.

Uses: Border, cut flowers, dried flowers.

Other facts of interest: Very salt resistant, hence its common name. Latifolium means wide leaf.
