Mayor Dyer called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m. The first subject of the workshop was “Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Activity Update and Stage 2 Efforts”. The Mayor called on DPAC President Kathy Ramsberger to begin the presentation. Ms. Ramsberger updated the Council on the activities that have taken place at DPAC in the 2 1/2 months since it opened. She also reported on positive feedback both locally and nationally as well as the tremendous success with sale and subscriptions. She discussed Phase 2 of the project and gave cost estimates indicating it will cost $184 million. $55 million remains to be raised for the project and it is scheduled to be opening in the fourth quarter of 2019.
At approximately 10:26 a.m., the workshop was opened to comments and questions by the Mayor and the Commissioners and discussion ensued.
At 10:36 a.m. the second topic of the workshop, “The Parramore Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan” was introduced. Mayor Dyer began with some background and then called on Paul Lewis, Chief Planning Manager, Economic Development Department, who began the presentation. He reviewed the goals and key questions to be answered by the plan, how the plan was developed and the “10 Big Ideas” for creating a healthy community in Parramore. At 11:00 a.m., Mr. Lewis introduced Jim Sellen, Project Manager with VHB, who thanked the City for the opportunity and who spoke briefly about the process of community involvement in the plan development.
At approximately 11:05 a.m., the workshop was opened to comments and questions and discussion ensued. At 11:16 a.m., Commissioner Ortiz left the meeting.
The workshop was adjourned at 11:39 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
