Highlights of the day:


  • Natuurbelevingscentrum. Meeting place. We walked to the observation hill to the east of the centre. Some movement on the nest of White-tailed Eagle visible. Little Ringed plover. Many Deer, Konik horses and Heck cattle.

  • Oostvaardersdijk (Kwelplas , southern part), Shelduck and a far off Pochard.

  • Trekvogelveld Great egret, The area has now dried up completely, the number of waders getting to zero, apart from a lone Lapwing. Linnet flying past.

  • Oostvaardersdijk. (northern part) Some Common Tern and Black headed Gull. Small numbers of Cormorants flying along and across the dike.

  • Path towards Zeearend hide. Big carp under second bridge. Great spotted Woodpecker, Bluethroat. Little Grebe in summer plumage. Wren singing its hart out.
