Notes from February Board Meeting – updated by Jim Parker

Registration has started and the cost each division was raised $10 per player due to the increase Newtown Babe Ruth received from Newtown Park & Recreation. Registration will end on March 5th, with a late fee of $25 after February 18. See Newtown Baseball website for details.

Hot Stove dinner made $5000 and will donate $2000 to The Strike Three Foundation.

Carl Samuleson of Park and Rec. will attend the April Board Meeting to discuss field maintenance and answer questions that we have.

Umpire training for new umpires will be held March 26 – see event calendar for details. You must be in 8th grade or higher to become an umpire.

The Board voted after the “regular” meeting to allow any bat that is approved by Cal Ripken to be used in Newtown. There is no longer a ban of double walled bats for the 11 and 12 year old divisions.

Ken Roche has submitted the waiver to Babe Ruth to allow the 11 and 12 year olds to play in separate divisions.

Jim Parker will review the by-laws to determine who is considered a member in good standing prior to the October board meeting. It was suggested that a rolling 12 months would be best if the by-laws were not specific.

Adam Taylor has updated the new baseball website – be on the lookout for baseball news.

Chris Aug is taken over as sponsorship coordinator.
