Microsoft Home Use Programme – frequently asked questions
1. How do I get the software?

A. By visiting the Microsoft website https://orders.microsoft.com/hup and registering using your work email address, such as xxx@bt.com, xxx@openreach.co.uk, xxx@btfleet.com, and the BT programme code C7C262C052.
2. Who is eligible for the programme?

A. This offer is available to employees of BT and subsidiary companies in which BT owns 50% or more, who use the software at work, and who have a company e-mail address and access to the BT intranet.

3. What Microsoft software can I get?
A. Currently Office Enterprise Edition 2007 (consisting of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Onenote, Publisher, Access, Infopath, Electronic, Content Manager and Groove). Please note, Communicator is not part of Office Enterprise for HUP.

The latest version of the Enterprise product will be provided. It is expected that the user’s home PC is capable of running these versions. This is the user’s responsibility.

4. How can I tell if my computer is compatible?

  1. Visit the Microsoft site at: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/office/sysreq.asp and review

the System Requirements

5. Do I own the software?

A. No. The Home Use Programme uses BT’s enterprise agreement with Microsoft to enable eligible BT employees to obtain software covered by the agreement for home use at a much lower cost than purchasing the software outright. Users just pay materials and shipping costs and although you don't own the software you have the right to use the HUP software on your own PC for as long as you continue to use Microsoft software at work and BT has a enterprise agreement with Microsoft.

6. Can I use it for my own home use?

A. Yes, you should only use this copy of the software for personal use on your home PC. Please note that you must not (even using a relevant BT-approved Remote Access package) access your @bt.com email account using MS Outlook on your home PC, for security reasons. Only access via an internet browser (webmail) at http://mail.bt.com is permitted. You will not receive support via the BT Service Desk for software ordered via the Microsoft Home Use Programme.
7. Can my family use the software?

A. If it is on the same computer, yes. This would be classed as home use.
8. Can I have more than one copy?

A. No. You may only have one copy of Microsoft Office Enterprise Edition 2007.
9. What will it cost?

A. You will need to obtain a copy of the CD and pay the cost of materials and shipping, which is likely to be around £18 per package.

10. Why can’t I order Microsoft Visio, Project, Front Page or Office XP?

A. Due to changes in usage of these packages within the business, BT’s licence allocation for Microsoft Project, Visio, Front Page and Office XP under the Home Use Programme has now been met. Subject to availability these products may be purchased outright at a discount through the Employee Purchase Programme – see question 14.

11. What happens if I leave BT?

A. If you leave BT for any reason, you are no longer eligible to use products obtained under the Home Use Programme. You must uninstall the software from your home computer.
12. What happens if BT stops its agreement with Microsoft?

A. The scheme is only operational while BT has a valid agreement with Microsoft. In the unlikely event that the agreement is stopped, users will no longer be eligible to use the products under this scheme. They must uninstall the software from their computer.
13. Does private use of the packages confer a taxable benefit?

A. No. No personal tax implications arise from participation in either programme.
14. Can I get discount on other Microsoft products?

A. Yes. The Microsoft Employee Purchase Programme (EPP) offers discounts on some of the most popular Microsoft products, including Xbox software and games and the Zune digital media player and software. You can order products directly for less than the estimated retail price through a secure, Microsoft-hosted e-commerce site.
The software is sent to the shipping address specified and you are restricted to a maximum of three copies of any given software title. All software acquired through the EPP website has a 30-day return policy and standard product support of retail products.

BT people who wish to use the EPP should log on to: https://orders.microsoft.com/epp

NB You will need to log in to this site with a windows live ID. If you don't have a windows live ID, you can set one up. Load up https://orders.microsoft.com/epp. If you do not have a hotmail account click ‘sign up now’, once you have done this, and set up the hotmail account, you will then be prompted for the information below, then you can purchase your items:

BT programme code: E606050154

email: eg. xxx@bt.com, xxx@openreach.co.uk

Company: BT

15. What is the difference between the Home Use programme and the Employee Purchase Programme?

A. The Home Use Programme uses BT’s enterprise agreement with Microsoft to enable eligible BT employees to obtain software covered by the agreement for home use at a much lower cost than purchasing the software outright. Users just pay materials and shipping costs and may continue to use the software as long as they use the software at work for BT and BT has an enterprise agreement with Microsoft.
The Employee Purchase Programme (EPP) enables eligible BT employees to purchase up to three of each of a variety of Microsoft packages for less than the retail price. Under the EPP, users own the product just as if they had purchased it via any other method and it is theirs to use even if they leave BT or BT ends its enterprise agreement with Microsoft.
16. How can I get more information/help about these offers?

A. Please e-mail: bt.software@computacenter.com
