McLaren Group officially unveils brand new state-of-the-art production facility

Woking, UK, 17 November 2011 - Today’s official unveiling of the brand new McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England, could not have been made possible without the involvement and partnership of Trimo.

The McLaren Production Centre, which was opened by Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron this morning, will be the new state-of-the-art home of McLaren Automotive.

The new building shares the same genesis as the neighbouring McLaren Technology Centre: it was designed by award-winning architects Foster + Partners in conjunction with McLaren and will house the assembly facility for all future McLaren Automotive projects, including the MP4-12C high-performance sports car.
Trimo is proud to partner with McLaren to provide a specially adapted form of its Qbiss high-performance cladding for the new Foster & Partners-designed McLaren Production Centre, producing a professional, functional interior and exterior facade solution to the MPC’s architectural design concept.

Qbiss façade system is a total wall solution offering the very best in aesthetics with total performance and functionality: the watertight and self-supporting exterior skin will insulate the MPC from the ravages of the British weather, while the interior panels provide fire resistance as well as an elegantly high-tech finish that fits perfectly with the McLaren ethos.

Executive Chairman of McLaren Group and McLaren Automotive, Ron Dennis said:

“During the entire design and build phases of the McLaren Production Centre, we were acutely aware of the need to create a space to complement the existing structure of the McLaren Technology Centre.

“Finding a solution that could function within the existing landscape was particularly challenging, but I’m pleased to say that Foster + Partners ensured a seamless continuity between the two buildings, while also allowing the MPC to exist independently as its own unique space.

“It is a legacy of our partners’ commitment, passion and adaptability that we were able to commute this shared vision into such a striking, unified and functional piece of design and architecture. The efforts of Trimo have been essential in bringing such a lengthy design and build process to a hugely satisfying conclusion.”

Trimo CEO Tatjana Fink commenting on the partnership said: “Trimo is a global brand, like McLaren, and becoming an official partner to the McLaren Production Centre was not just about product but more what the products represent in terms of excellence, performance and quality. The shared business culture of innovation, creativity and an energy is what makes us both the very best at what we do and drives us continuously to succeed.”
Finally, we’re honoured that Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron was able to open the building today.”
