объединить учащихся с разным уровнем владения английским языком в совместной творческой работе, способствовать выработке навыков языкового общения.

Предварительная работа включала:

ознакомление с темой, с жизнью и творчеством знаменитых русских художников, музыкантов, композиторов; обсуждение темы в диалогах; изучение лексики, необходимой для описания художественных и музыкальных произведений и высказывания своего отношения.

В работе по теме использовались материалы журналов «Юность», «Огонек», «Биография», газет «Комсомольская правда», «Литературная газета», статьи И. Андроникова, П. Вырыпаева, П. Селегейя.

Рассказывая о своем космическом полете, Герман Степанович Титов писал: «… Восток – 2 вошел в тень Земли, его обступила темная непроглядная ночь. На черном бархате неба, как алмазы, трепетным огнем искрились и переливались крупные, холодные звезды. Глядя на них, нельзя было не вспомнить стихи Лермонтова «И звезда с звездою говорит…» Летчик-космонавт, совершая героический полет, как бы почувствовал рядом с собой великого поэта.

В августе 1962 года вместе с космонавтом Павлом Романовичем Поповичем в космос отправился небольшой, в зеленой обложке, томик стихотворений Лермонтова.

Dear guests, could I have your attention, please. You are welcome to our meeting devoted to M.Y. Lermontov. M.Y. Lermontov … What a great personality! Such a short life. Think. Only 27. And so many genuine masterpieces! We can speak about Lermontov for ever and ever, but today we will half-open one more side of poet’s talent, we will make the acquaintance of Lermontov as a painter. Besides we are going to say a few words about poet’s influence over those who had touch his unforgettable works. I give the floor to our participants. All of them are the pupils of the 11^th Form.

M. Lermontov is on of the most celebrated poets of all times in Russia. He won fame as a poet after his poem on Pushkin’s death. Lermontov’s poems “Demon”, “Mtsyri”, “Lady of the Merchant Kalashnikov”, his innumerable lyrics, his great novel “A Hero of Our Time” and his play “Masquerade” are masterpieces of Russian Literature. Whether he close to write poetry, prose or drama, the stamp of his genius was to be found on his work.

As you know, M.Y. Lermontov was not only a prominent poet, he was also a very talented painter revealing beauty of the Russian scenery and the Russian countryside. He chose Tarckany, his grandmother’s estate, for a subject of some his canvases. Lermontov painted portraits. His favourite media is water-color.

Varvara Alexandrovna Lopuhina. This portrait was painted in 1835 or 1838 and it was devoted to his great love. And this is the painting of baron Palen, Lermontov’s army fellow.

Pupil 3:

Lermontov’s art was greatly influenced by his life in Caucasus. His paintings revealed beauty of this place and his brush transferred his feelings to the canvas. Lermontov’s pictures are truly realistic.

Lermontov’s poetry found a broad response among Russian artists.

In 1891 M. Vrubel was asked to illustrate Lermontov’s famous verses. Demon was his favourite subject. He depicted different versions of Demon. Vrubel painted “Sitting Demon”, began experimenting with “Flying Demon” but giving up that work. Later he created “Depressed Demon”. “Sitting Demon” was young and sad, but “Flying Demon”, “Depressed Demon” looked mad and violent. As for Vrubel’s sculpture of demon’s head, it was so terrible that in 1928 it was broken by a visitor of Russian Museum. M. Vrubel, as a prominent artist wanted to express omnipotence of Demon and at the same time his Demon is helpless to change the world.

“Tambovskaya merchant-woman”. The poem was published in 1838. It won recognition of critics and public. V.A. Tropinin had a soul for the ironic work of the young poet. He wanted to depict the main heroin and his magic brush transferred his wish and feelings to the canvas. The portrait was represented in 1841 and it coin-ided with the literary heroin. But it’s interesting to know that the original of the portrait was Moscow merchant-woman E.I. Korsinkina.

Many talented composers, such as N. Myaskovsky, S. Vasilenko, A. Alexandrov, G. Sviridov, Meytus and a lot of others were inspired by significant works of Lermontov and created their own great romances, operas, ballets, symphonic poems. The most prominent music performances were “Bella” (the ballet performed by B. Moshkov), Artamonov’s opera “Masquerade”, Kreitner’s opera “In terrible year” (after novel “Vadim”, Tsintsadze’s ballet “Demon” and etc).

Aram Khachaturyan created a powerful music to Lermontov’s drama “Masquerade” winning the hearts of many people. This music enchants and amazes music lovers.

А. Хачатурян: «Лермонтов – один из тех великих гениев, чье творчество будет вечно жить в музыке. Лермонтовские образы привлекают композитора стремлением борьбы за свободу и счастье человека. С трепетным волнением писал я музыку к драме Лермонтова «Маскарад». Какая глубина чувств, всепобеждающая сила страстей! «Маскарад» ждет своего Чайковского!»

In 2 years we will celebrate the 70^th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. Surely it’s worth saying that Lermontov’s patriotic poetry strengthened power and will of our soldiers and inspired them in the struggle against fascist invaders.

«Красная звезда» от 16 сентября 1941 года обращаясь к военным газетам, писала:

«Из глубины годов доносится сейчас на поля сражений к воинам Красной Армии, занимающим Москву, благородный клич их предков:

«Ребята, не Москва ль за нами?

Умремте ж под Москвой,

Как наши братья умирали!

- И умереть мы обещали

И клятву верности сдержали…»

Сама Родина говорит сейчас этими словами со своими вооруженными сыновьями, сражающимися на Вяземском, Брянском, Калининском и других направлениях. Пусть не будет воина, который не услышал бы этого призыва!»
Pupil 2:

В статье красноармейца Седунова из фронтовой газеты «Уничтожим врага» читаем: «Ребята, не Москва ль за нами? – писал наш великий русский поэт М.Ю. Лермонтов. – Так победим же под Москвой! – говорим сейчас мы, бойцы Красной Армии.

Другой красноармеец писал: «Будем бить фашистов, как взбесившихся псов. Бить так, чтобы не было стыдно перед внуками, чтобы они, вспоминая победные бои под Москвой, говорили:

«Скажи, товарищ, ведь недаром

Москва ответила ударом

На вражеский удар!»
Pupil 4:

В сотнях газет и журналов военного времени печатались вдохновенные слова поэта:

«Москва, Москва! Люблю тебя, как сын,

Как русский, - сильно, пламенно и нежно!»

The poetic heritage of M. Y. Lermontov become our notional property. Many years have passed since his death, but Lermontov ist still considered by many to be one of the greatest Russian poets. His love for humanity, for people, his critical attitude towards injustice attract readers to this day and Lermontov’s works will always be interesting for all people.
