Kalyanak Kshetra

Information: (Old name Gajpur) City is more than 3000 years old. Four times this city was established and was destroyed. Birth place of 16th Tirthankar Shantinath, 17th Tirthankar Kuntunath, and 18th Tirthankar Arahnath. In total 12 Kalyanaks ( Garbh, Janam, Diksha, and Kevalgyan of these three Tirthankars) Many times Samavsharan of Tirthankars Malinath and Mahavir was held. Raja Shrenik gave Parna to Tirthankar Adinath. After Diksha Parasnath also visited this place. He had parna at Vardatt's home. He again visited after Kevalgyan. Local king Swayambhu became 1st Gandhar of Parasnath. Swayambhu's daughter Prabhavati became Aryika. It was the capital city of four Chakarvartins: Sanat Kumar, Shantinath, Kuntunath, Arahnath, and Kurus. Muni Vishnukumar protected and saved 700 Jain munis from upsarga by Bali. (Started festival of Rakshabandhan) Gyanmati Mataji has recently built Jambudweep Kshetra. Two new temples of Arahnath and Kuntunath are built.

Shantinath Temple:

This temple was built by Raja Harsukhrai in 1801, it was looted and destroyed in mutiny of 1857. The main idol of Parasnath was stolen , then in 1870 A.D. Bhattarak Jinchandra did pratishtha of idol of Tirthankar Shantinath.

Mulnayak: White stone idol of Shantinath in padmasan.

Other Statues: Temple also has pratimaphalak with Panchbalyati ( Vasupujaya,

Malinath, Neminath, Parasnath and Mahavir)

Other things: There is 31 ft. tall manstambh in front of Shantinath temple.

An other Shantinath temple, a very old temple, its pratishtha was done in 1174 A.D.

Other Statues: Tirthankar Mahavir 7 ft. tall in Khadgasan.

Five small shrines on different mounds in the forest within a distance of 7 km.



The place was once famous for its five Stupas (Topes) which are now no more.

How to reach: How to reach: Railway train available, Bus available, Taxi available and can go by car. Near by station is Merath 37kms away. Delhi is 60kms. Hastinapur is 37 km. from Meerut which is 60 km. from Delhi.

Lodging: There are 5 Jain Dharamshalas.
