I ABOUT LES ROCHES MARBELLA

Les Roches Marbella, International School of Hotel Management is a private Spanish Institution active in co-education in the fields of hospitality and tourism, offering undergraduate, and post graduate programs up to four years. Located in the heart of Spain’s Costa del Sol, just a few minutes drive from the famous harbor of Puerto Banús, Les Roches Marbella offers to its international student body a safe, yet young and dynamic educational environment, perfect for students to flourish academically, culturally, and socially.

II HISTORY

1954 Founding of “l’Ecole des Roches” an international school

1979 The international school becomes a Hotel school through specialized programs

1995 Founding of Les Roches Marbella, Swiss Hotel Association School of Hotel Management

2002 Les Roches Marbella becomes part of Laureate International Universities, a public listed company from Baltimore, USA, part of Laureate Laureate Education Inc.

2002 Les Roches Marbella operates under the supervision of the Swiss Hotel Association as a co-educational Management-training institute

2004 Les Roches Marbella is institutionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Collegues, U.S.A

2004 Les Roches joint venture and opening of Les Roches Shanghai – China and Les Roches Hospitality Management Program in partnership with Kendall College, USA.

2007 Les Roches Marbella is awarded the Quality Certification in Management Systems UNE/EN/ISO 9001:2000 by European Quality Assurance (EQA) for complying with international quality standards.

2007 Industry recognition: Hiring managers from international hotel chains ranked Les Roches among the top 3 Hospitality Management schools in the world for an international career. (TNS, UK, Global Research - 2007)

2009 In May, Les Roches Marbella has been awarded Environmental Quality Certification UNE/EN/ISO 14001:2004 by European Quality Assurance (EQA) for complying with international environmental standards.

VI INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT


Internships are part of all the programs and play an important role in all undergraduate and postgraduate level studies. This valuable experience enables students to face real work situations that are encountered in today’s fast evolving environment. Internships also increase students’ employability as they enter their professional life with an education coupled with extensive professional work experience.
Our career development department provides students a personalized service and is very active in helping them obtain their first professional experience. Each semester, many international hotel chains and independent companies visit our campus to present their companies and then interview our students.

VII ABOUT THE CAMPUS



Location

Our campus is located in a residential area in the heart of Marbella’s Golden Mile, between the centre of Marbella and the world famous harbor of Puerto Banús. Surrounded by the sun, sea, beaches and mountains of Andalusia, you will experience one of the most dynamic and unique tourist locations in Spain and Europe. Marbella is a cosmopolitan city which offers the perfect environment for you to succeed academically, culturally and socially.


With an enviable mild microclimate and an average year round temperature of 19°C (66.2 Fahrenheit), Marbella is the perfect place to enjoy a multitude of sporting and outdoor recreational activities all year round. All Les Roches Marbella students receive memberships to the Manolo Santana “Raquets Club” where they can enjoy both tennis and paddle tennis, a fully equipped gymnasium, aerobic classes, sauna and outdoor swimming pool. In addition, there are countless opportunities, amenities and sports activities easily accessible to anyone. 
Les Roches Marbella is located in Southern Mediterranean Coast of Spain, in Marbella. You can be almost anywhere in Europe in less than 2 hours flying from Malaga international airport and as well as Morocco, and there is a full range of intercontinental connections via Madrid, Lisbon, Paris, Geneva and London.


Campus facilities

One of Les Roches Marbella’s advantages is the standard of our modern facilities which host a recently built new teaching wing and residence. Our campus has been carefully designed and equipped to provide students with state-of-the-art teaching facilities while maintaining the physical realities of the hotel industry.


Les Roches Marbella Campus facilities include:


  • 1 New Auditorium (capacity for 170 students). It can be divided into 2 auditoriums with capacity for 85 students

International Student Body

Les Roches Marbella prides itself in welcoming students from all around the world. A truly multicultural campus with students from over 49 nationalities represented.


Male / Female ratio

This industry attracts more and more young women who are currently in majority on campus. The ratio is 43:47.


Faculty

There are 48 full time equivalent international faculty members (over 12 different nationalities), including full and part time lecturers as well as professional who come to enhance the students’ programs as visiting lecturers. Faculty members all have academic credentials and often extensive professional experience relevant to their teaching.


Average class size

Les Roches Marbella emphasizes on having small classes in order to maximize interaction between the students and the faculty. The average class is around 25 to 30.


IX ACCREDITATION / RECOGNITION / QUALITY ASSURANCE


Recognition - 2002: We were the first school outside Switzerland to be affiliated to the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA), the body that protects the standards and reputation of the Swiss hotel industry. This alliance ensures that our curriculum answers to industry requirements.
Accreditation – 2004: We were the first school in Spain to receive institutional accreditation from the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) in U.S.A. which is one of the six regional accreditation associations for quality assurance recognized by the U.S.A. Department of Eduaction.
Quality Assurance - 2007: Les Roches Marbella was awarded Quality Certification in Management Systems UNE/EN/ISO 9001:200 by the European Quality Assurance (EQA) for complying with international quality standards. EQA is an international certification body accredited by the Entidad Nacional de Acreditación (ENAC) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

XIII ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF LES ROCHES MARBELLA


When you graduate from Les Roches Marbella you automatically become a member of the Alumni Association. This is a great way to keep in touch with friends, but it also provides news and employment opportunities. In the hospitality industry, it is quite common for people to change jobs every few years, at least in the early stages of their career, and the Alumni Association is a very useful networking resource. There are currently over 1,700 Les Roches Marbella Alumni members around the world.
The Les Roches Marbella Alumni webpage allows Alumni to check on the latest job offers in the Career Center Section, browse the On-line Directory to find old classmates, receive information on the next of many Alumni Reunions organized or even start a discussion on the forum boards.
