Courses: “Management of Archival Material” (Theory & Practice), “Archives and Records Originators: Greek Administrative Institutions and European Union Institutions and Bodies”

“Management of Archival Material”. Categories and types of archival material. Audiovisual and electronic files. Business records and church records. Uses and values ​​of items. Appraisal, arrangement (recording, classification, physical arrangement) description (finding aids) indexing archives. Archival description applications with computer programs. Archival description standards (ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), ISDF, ISDIAH), archival metadata standards (EAD, EAC-CPF, EAG), content description rules (DACS), digitization and preservation standards (METS and PREMIS), Records Management Technologies, XML encoding language and its technologies.

“Archives and Records Originators: Greek Administrative Institutions and European Union Institutions and Bodies”. The organizations of the Greek public sector and the documents produced by them will be addressed in scope: principles of legislative, executive and judicial powers of the state: civil service, judiciary, legal entities of public law, local governments, agencies and utilities, banks, registries, notary, land registry. The procedures and bodies of the European Union will be examined in relation to the evidence produced.

General duties: a) checking the retention schedules of public sector’s archival material, its appraisal & disposition (in the area of Piraeus). b) member of the APEnet European Project (main duties: participation in the management team - writing reports for the project, financial management, scientific consulting -, in the WP3 – Interoperability with Europeana, and on other WPs dealing with issues such as the EAD XML exports from databases, data validation and quality control, reporting and keeping the records needed, WP4 - Development of content framework for the gateway and WP6 Project management, Encoded Archival Guide (EAG) Working Group (APEnet Project), uploading content in the APEnet Archives Portal and checking its quality) , writing specifications for the procurement of an XML editor. c) Country Manager (in Greece) for the APEX European Project. d) preparation of the Greek law on E-records & Digitization.

Duties as an employee of the Planning, Coordination and Studies Department: a) being informed on the national and international activities in the archival science field, b) supervision of specific regional services of the GSA and scientific and technical consulting of their personnel, c) reporting and consulting on the social media use in Archives, d) metadata encoding of the bibliographic resources related to archival science in library systems, e) organization of visits and receptions in the GSA, f) managing the organization of the meeting European Board of National Archivists (EBNA) and European Archives Group (EAG) (organized under the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2014).
