Assessment One: Creative ProjectA creative project, The purpose of the creative project is to explore your individual, imaginative engagement with film, directly informed by your critical engagement with psychoanalytic and film theory discourse. The project will take a visual form with a written accompaniment. Your visual project will explore one of the key themes we engage with this term of :Memory, Desire and Mourning Dream Using the following films as your inspiration: Orphee (France Jean Cocteau,1950) Vertigo (USA, Alfred Hitchcock, 1958) La Jetee (France, Chris Marker, 1962) Solaris (USSR Andrei Tarkovsky,1972) 2046 (China/France/Germany/ Hong Kong, Kar Wei Wong, 2004) Peeping Tom (UK, Michael Powell, 1960) Belle de Jour (France, Luis Bunuel, 1967) Blue Velvet (USA, David Lynch, 1986) Exotica (Canada, Atom Egoyan, 1994) In The Cut (USA, Jane Campion, 2003) Un Chien Andalou (France, Luis Bunuel, 1929) Meshes of the Afternoon (USA, Maya Deren, 1942) Le Mepris (France/Italy, Jean-Luc Godard, 1963) Take a series of digital photographic images which bring to mind moments or stills from a film (these must be your own images, not sourced from elsewhere). Look at Cindy Sherman’s film still series of images and view photography in a gallery setting for inspiration. You will be asked to submit the 5 strongest images via email as a jpeg to alev.adil@gmail.com or A.Adil@gre.ac.uk. Each jpeg should be titled with your surname and initial (e.g. Begum A 1.jpeg) and numbered 1-5. You will also submit a 2,500 – 3,500 word written text via the headersheet system. | ||||||||||||
