Holsoe ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Johanne Marie Meyer, who was baptized on 31 March 1750, was married on 28 March 1763, to Thomas de Malleville, who was born in 1739 on St. Thomas. He was in Denmark and was involved in the overthrow of Struensee. She died 20 November 1819. He died on 21 October 1798 on St. Thomas. ------------------ Maria Alletta Meyer was married on 29 September 1762 at Mr. Meyer's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Priest to Benjamin Biggs.1 Maria Alletta Meyer was married on 4 February 1779 at Mr. Meyer's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister to Lewis Cutture.2 ---------------- Samuel Myer had a relationship in 1764-1765 with Minerva, owned by Lucas Uytendaele, Baron de Bretton. 3 Child of Samuel Myer and Minerva: 1. i. David Myer, b. c1765 1. David Myer was born in about 1765 and was baptized on 10 March 1765 in the St. Croix Dutch Reformed Church in Christiansted. 4 Witnesses at the baptism were: Martin Karél, Sara Tongerlo, Anna Pontier, Mingo Tongerlo, all free and members of the church. [Not cross referenced.] -------------------- John Meyer was married on 20 March 1772 at Mr. John Johnson's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister to Rebecca Hartman.5 John Meyer was married on 29 October 1774 at Dr. Johnson's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister, to Jane Johnson.6 John Meyers was married on 4 May 1777 at the Anglican Minister's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister to Elizabeth Cook.7 -------------- John Meyer was married to Mary.8 He was married again to Jane.9 Children of John and Mary Meyer: 1. i. John Meyer, b. 20/29 December 1767 2. ii. Sarah Johnson Meyer, b. April 1776 Child of John and Jane Meyer: 3. i. Johnson Meyer, b. 30 August 1780 1. John Meyer was born on 20/29 December 1767 and was baptized on 23 November 1768 in the Christiansted Anglican Church.10 2. Sarah Johnson Meyer was born in April 1776 and was baptized on 14 April 1776 in the Christiansted Anglican Church.11 3. Johnson Meyer was born in 30 August 1780 and was baptized on 21 January 1781 in the Christiansted Anglican Church.12 ------------------- Elizabeth Meyer was married on 18 July 1770 at Mr. Meyer's residence by the Anglican Minister to Bastian French.13 ------------------ Christian Nicholas (Nicolai) Meyer married in the St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church on 12 January 1786, to Johanna (Jenny) Rosina Krause,1415 was born on St. Croix in 1768, the daughter of Johan Gottfried Krause (? - 1776) and Anna Caroline Heyliger (? - 1820). Children of Christian Nicholas and Johanna Rosina (Krause) Meyer: 1. i. Johan Gotfried Meyer, c. 1787 2. ii. William Henry Meyer, b. c1790 1. Johan Gotfried Meyer was baptized in the St. Croix Dutch Reformed Church on 21 January 1787.16 2. William Henry Meyer was baptized in the St. Croix Dutch Reformed Church on 21 February 1790.17 -------------------- Elizabeth Meyer was born in about 1788, a slave of Jane & John Meyer of estate ? Strawberry Hill. She was freed in 1804. She had a relationship in about 1821-1822 with Joseph Wilhelm, who was born in about 1770 and was baptized on 27 June 1770 in the Friedensthal Moravian Church.18 He subsequently moved to the Lutheran Church. There was one son.
In 1801, he was employed as a Scribe.21 In 1818, she is listed on 1 June, as returning to St. Croix from Copenhagen.22 He may have died in 1821.23 Child of George and Mary Richardson Edney: 1. i. John Peter Edney Meyer, b. c1801 1. John Peter Edney Meyer was born in about 180124 and was baptized on 15 May 1801 in the St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church. 25 In 1826, he was a Pilot at the wharf. 26 On 13 November 1826, he was married in the Danish Lutheran Church in Christiansted to Ellen Margreth Howard, who was born in about 1803, and was a member of the Anglican Church. 27 In October 1841, he was living on Protestant Key, Christiansted, as the Pilot, a widower, with Ellen M. Markoe as his House Keeper.28 ------------------- Margaretha Meyer was married on 12 January 1800 at the house of John Meyer by the Christiansted Anglican Priest to Christopher Johnson, a Medical Doctor. 29 ------------------- Mary A. Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1806 and was baptized in the Anglican Church. 30 She had a relationship from about 1830 to 1846 with David L. Finlay, who was born in Ireland in about 1798 and was baptized in the Presbyterian Church. 31 In October 1846, she was living with David L. Finlay and their two children at estate Concordia, West End Quarter, unmarried and supporting herself with Needle Work, while he was employed as the Manager of the estate and a Sergeant Major in the Prince’s Life Squadron. 32
2. i. Emma Meier, b. c1808 1. Ida Emilie Meier was born in about 1807 and was baptized on 3 April 1807 in the St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church.34 2. Emma Meier was born in about 1808 and was baptized on 28 January 1809 in the St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church. 35 -------------------- Henriette Meyer, who was a resident of St. Croix, departed Christiansted with her daughters, Henriette and Emma, on 29 April 1813, destined for England.36 Children of Henriette Meyer: 1. i. Henriette Meyer 2. ii. Emma Meyer ------------------ Eliza Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1796 and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. 37 In October 1846, she was living at 49 King’s Street, Frederiksted, unmarried and employed Selling. 38 ------------------ J. M. Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1802 and was baptized in the Anglican Church.39 In 1841, she was living at 27ab Hospital Street, Christiansted, unmarried, supported by J. L. Wittrog. 40 ------------- John L. Meyer was a Merchant in 1834. 41 He was married to Adelaide. 42 Children of John L. and Adelaide Meyer: 1. i. Waldemar Meyer, b. 17 September 1830 2. ii. Adrian Meyer, b. 5 April 1832 1. Waldemar Meyer was born on 17 September 1830 and was baptized on 25 December 1834 in Christiansted in the St. Croix Danish Lutheran Church. 43
He was a Lieutenant with the West Indian Troops.46 ---------------------- Just George Meyer was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in about 1808 and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. 47 He was married to Adelaide, who was born on St. Croix in about 1816 and baptized in the Anglican Church. 48 In 1841, they were living at 4 Watergut, Christiansted, in the property of the heirs of George Meyer, and he was a Ship’s carpenter doing day labor, as well as, a Private in the Artillery. 49
In 1843, he was a widower and a renter [presumably of an estate].54 He was married on 2 November 1843 in the Danish Lutheran Church, Christiansted to Mary Behagen was born in about 1818 and a member of the Anglican Church.55 In 1857 & 1860, they were living at 1 Strand Street, Christiansted along with her sister and her sister's children, and he was listed as a Clerk by profession.56 Child of Abraham Meyer: 1. i. Roslin R. Meyer, b. c1841 Children of Abraham and Mary (Behagen) Meyer: 2. i. Julia R. Meyer, b. c1849 3. ii. Mary Meyer, b. c1851 1. Roslin R. Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1841 and was a member of the Anglican Church.57 In 1860, she was living at 1 Strand Street, Christiansted with her father and her stepmother and half siblings.58 2. Julia R. Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1849 and was a member of the Anglican Church.59 In 1860, she was living at 1 Strand Street, Christiansted with her parents, sister, and half sister.60 3. Mary Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1851 and was a member of the Anglican Church.61 In 1860, she was living at 1 Strand Street, Christiansted with her parents, sister, and half sister.62 She married a man with the surname Brown.63 Unknown Meyer had these two possible children: 1. i. John Cornelius P. Meyer, b. c1813 2. ii. Matilda Meyer, b. c1814 1. John Cornelius [P. 64] Meyer was born on St. Croix in about 1813 and was baptized in the Anglican Church. 65 He was married to Anna Mathilda [a.k.a. Mathilda C.66], who was born on St. Croix in about 181667/1818 and was baptized in the Anglican Church. 68 [She was the daughter of Georgeanna Durant, b. 1797, Anglican. 69] In October 1841 he was living with his wife and children, at his own property at 31 King’s Street, Frederiksted, and he was a Clerk to Mr. [George] Nelthropp, as well as serving as a Corporal in the Fire Corps.70 On 28 February 1843, he received a Burgher Certificate. 71 In October 1846, they were living at his property at 31 King’s Street, Frederiksted, married, occupied with a clerkship with his father, and a Corporal in the Fire Corps. 72 He was dead by 1857.73 In October 1857, she was living with her children at 31 King’s Street, Frederiksted. 74
