Partita 2 UK PREMIERE
Friday 22 & Saturday 23 May
Tickets: £12 - £27
In Partita 2, a collaboration with French choreographer and dancer Boris Charmatz, contemporary dance icon Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker departs from her usual meticulous construction of dance, embracing the improvisatory instincts and whimsical flair of Charmatz. This is the first time De Keersmaeker has composed a duet for her to dance herself. The piece is named for its score by Bach, the structure and form of which De Keersmaeker reflects in this new choreography.
Bach’s composition is performed by violinist Amandine Beyer with Michel François’ bare and beautiful set design.

Paco Peña Flamenco Dance Company
Flamencura UK PREMIERE
Saturday 20 - Sunday 28 June
Tickets: £12 - £38
Guitarist, composer, dramatist and producer Paco Peña has expanded the possibilities and changed perceptions of flamenco in a career spanning four decades. He returns to Sadler’s Wells with his new show Flamencura.
Art, in all its forms, has the potential of reaching a point of alchemy between performer and audience in order to transport them into a mysterious level of emotion. In flamenco, this core concept is referred to as ‘duende’ – artists will use all the ingredients available to them in order to achieve this state. And duende, combined with an artist’s experience and the character with which they perform, all amount to flamencura, which is what the six musicians and three dancers of this show bring together on stage through song, dance and music.
Free pre-show flamenco classes: Sunday 21 & Sunday 28 June at 6pm

Akram Khan & Israel Galván
TOROBAKA
Tuesday 30 June - Sunday 5 July
Tickets: £12 - £38
In a unique artistic exchange, Akram Khan and Israel Galván made TOROBAKA by bringing together elements of kathak and flamenco to create something new and distinctive, defying classification or genre. Returning after its highly anticipated UK premiere at Sadler’s Wells in Autumn 2014, TOROBAKA takes its name from a Dadaist poem by Tristan Tzara. The bull (toro) and the cow (vaca) are sacred animals in the dancers’ two traditions and represent the coming together of the two cultures.
Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Akram Khan is one of the most celebrated dance artists today and, in just over a decade, has created an imaginative, highly accessible and relevant body of work, including productions such as DESH, Vertical Road, Gnosis and zero degrees. The multi award-winning Israel Galván has been at the forefront of contemporary flamenco for 20 years and is known for his innovative choreography and exquisite dancing technique.

Dutch National Ballet LONDON COLISEUM
Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella UK PREMEIRE
Wednesday 8 - Saturday 11 July
Tickets: £10 - £80
Dutch National Ballet presents a new interpretation of Cinderella, choreographed by Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Christopher Wheeldon. Premiered at Dutch National Opera & Ballet in December 2012 to great public and critical acclaim, Wheeldon’s ballet is set to Prokofiev’s score with sets and costumes by British designer Julian Crouch.
Wheeldon is one of the most sought-after choreographers in the dance world today. His Cinderella, influenced by the Brothers Grimm story, shows a kind-hearted heroine making the best of life without her beloved mother, while over at the palace Prince Guillaume is struggling against the restrictions of royal protocol and princely duty. Elaborating on the traditional narrative, Cinderella is choreographed with lyricism, elegance and wit.

New Adventures
Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man
Tuesday 14 July - Sunday 9 August
Tickets: £12 - £55
For the first time since 2007, Matthew Bourne’s internationally acclaimed award-winning dance thriller is back. The Car Man is loosely based on Bizet’s popular opera and has one of the most thrilling and instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures’ repertoire. The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy garage-diner in 1960s America where the dreams and passions of a small town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.
Featuring Lez Brotherston’s epic design and Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling with music by Terry Davies and Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen), The Car Man is another spectacular production from the UK’s most popular dance theatre company. Matthew Bourne is a Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist and New Adventures is a Resident Company.
