THE NAVY INDIVIDUAL AUGMENTEE COMAT TRAINING SCHOOL (NIACT) COURSE CURRICULUM


Purpose: To provide combat training to United States Navy Individual Augmentees's for the Navy's Fleet Forces Command to prepare Sailors for deployments to CENTCOM or HOA AOR.

This course provides Combat Training to U.S. Navy Individual Augmentee's (IA's) for students deploying

as IA’s to CENTCOM/HOA AOR. It is intended to train students for Army Combat Support/Combat

Service Support (CS/CSS).

Training consists of:


      • Basic Rifle Marksmanship

      • First Aid

      • Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC)

      • Land Navigation

      • Survive (Combat Techniques)

      • U.S. Weapons Training

Pre-certification training will be conducted prior to arrival and if not it will be completed during In-

processing and after duty hours. Training is provided through Navy Knowledge Online (NKO)

Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) Level 1 Awareness Training

Operation Security (OPSEC)

Subversion and Espionage against the Department of the Army (SAEDA)

United States Army Values/General Orders

Level B Code of Conduct (SERE 100)

Fraternization and Sexual Harassment; sexual Assault; Anger Management and Suicide

Awareness

Hot Weather Injury/Cold Weather Injury.



Basic Rifle Marksmanship
Purpose: This module is designed to teach basic M16-series rifle and M9 Pistol marksmanship skills needed by every student. Individuals will learn the safe use, maintenance, and employment of weapons and weapon systems. Preliminary marksmanship training will be conducted before instructional or qualification firing of weapons.

Maintain an M16-Series Rifle
Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 2
· Disassembly, assembly and a functions check.

· Dry firing with the M15A1 Aiming Card, target box and paddle exercise and coaching. · Safety procedures, dry firing from prone-unsupported at 25-meter scaled silhouette

· Correct malfunctions and practice dime/washer exercise and coaching.
Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 3 (SIM Day Group/Zero)

Apply Fundamentals of Marksmanship II using the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) 2000

In a Weapons Simulator, simulating day; given a M16-series rifle, 1 magazine, and 18 rounds of simulated 5.56mm ammunition, helmet, Gloves and Eye Pro and using the plastic target box paddle template (DVC-T 7-86). Student will execute one time.
Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 4 (Live Day Group)

Perform Shot Grouping Exercise (Live Fire)

On a 25-meter range or LOMAH, during daylight hours and a 300-meter M16-series rifle zero target placed on a standard E-silhouette. Student will, demonstrate consistent application of marksmanship fundamentals. From the prone supported position, score 6 of 6 shots (fired in two consecutive 3-round shot-groups), within a 4-cm diameter circle in accordance with FM 2-33.9.
Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 5 (Live Day Zero)

Zero an M16-Series Rifle (Live Fire)

On a 25-meter range or LOMAH during daylight hours the student will adjust their own sights. From the prone supported position, score 5 of 6 shots (fired in two consecutive 3-round shot-groups) within 4-centimeters of the bull’s-eye

Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 6 A (Live Day LOMAH)

On a LOMAH range, the student will fire from 3 positions (prone supported, prone unsupported, and kneeling). The student will execute two attempts with gear and one attempt without gear.


Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 6 B (SIM Night)

Apply Fundamentals of Marksmanship II using a Weapons Simulator. In a Weapons Simulator, simulating night; given a M16-series rifle, 1 magazine, 30 rounds of simulated 5.56mm ammunition, helmet, IBA, Gloves and Eye Pro. The student will execute one attempt with gear from the kneeling position fire 15 rounds at the target, from the prone unsupported position, fire 15 rounds at the target.


Title: Stress Shoot (LIVE)

Perform Stress Shoot Fire Techniques on a 25-m range with a HMMWV during daylight hours. The student will be afforded the opportunity to practice this course of fire prior to going to the live fire range by using either a demonstration of live fire techniques, 20 rounds of blank ammunition per student, or both


Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 11 (Live Day Practice Record Fire)

Detect and engage timed targets during practice record fire I with the M16-series rifle From the prone supported position, engage twenty timed target exposures with 20 rounds. From the prone unsupported position, engage ten timed target exposures with 10 rounds. From the kneeling position, engage ten timed target exposures with 10 rounds. Hit a minimum of 23 of 40 exposed targets in accordance with FM 3-22.9.



Title: Basic Rifle Marksmanship 13 (Live Day Record Fire)

On a record fire range during daylight hours, from the prone supported position, engage twenty timed target exposures with 20 rounds. From the prone unsupported position, engage ten timed target exposures with 10 rounds. From the kneeling position, engage ten timed target exposures with 10 rounds. Hit a minimum of 23 of 40 exposed targets in accordance with FM 3-22.9


Title: Maintain an M9 Pistol

In classroom and field environments perform each of the following:

The weapon must be pointed in a safe direction at all times to prevent any incidents

Perform clearing procedures: remove all ammunition and secure the weapon · Disassemble and clean the weapon: ensure there is no carbon residue in the barrel or on the bolt and that the weapon has a coat of lubricant.

Assemble the weapon and perform a functions check.

Load the weapon (make a Condition 1 weapon) and correct a malfunction.

Perform clearing procedures (make a Condition 4 weapon)

Title: Navy Handgun Qualification Course (Live Day)

Engage Targets with an M9 Pistol

Complete the Navy Handgun Qualification Course in accordance with OPNAV 3591.1 Series for a Category II Shooter.

Title: Navy Handgun Night Course (SIM)

Engage Targets with an M9 Pistol

Complete the Navy Handgun in accordance with OPNAV 3591.1 Series for a Category II Shooter.

Title: Navy Handgun Night Course (Live Night)

Complete the Navy Handgun Night Course in accordance with OPNAV 3591.1 Series for a Category II Shooter.



Title: Navy Handgun Practical Weapons Course (Live Day)

Complete the Navy Handgun Practical Weapons Course in accordance with OPNAV 3591.1 Series for a Category II Shooter.




First Aid
Purpose: The student has to be able to treat themselves and other personnel using first aid if injured in training or on the battlefield. Students are trained in basic techniques to evaluate a casualty and how to apply aid

Title: Land Navigation 3 Operate the Global Positioning System (GPS) DAGR

Title: Survive (Combat Techniques)

Purpose: This module consists of teaching students on basic survival (Combat Techniques) skills within a Operational Environment (OE). The student is trained in the various techniques of how to move in an urban environment and clear a building with the minimum risk. Also, this module is designed to teach students IED/UXO familiarization. Students will be trained to successfully react to the IEDUXO hazard, learn how to recognize the types and subgroups of ordnance, determine what actions to take, and how to report a UXO hazard. The student will maneuver on the battlefield with minimum risk to himself while accomplishing his mission. The student also trains on how to move on the battlefield using techniques that allow him to progress to the best position/advantage to engage the enemy.

Title: Perform a Stand-up Search or a Frisk (Pat Down) Search

In a field environment during daylight hours; given individual equipment, assigned weapon, and battle buddy; and detainee, disposable restraints, a guard, an interpreter (if available), DA Form 4002 (Evidence/Property Tag), DA Form 4137 (Evidence/Property Custody Document), Department of Defense (DD) Form 2745 (Enemy Prisoner of War [EPW] Capture Tag), and materials to mark and bundle evidence and property.



Title: Supervise Handling of Enemy Personnel and Equipment at Squad Level

In a field environment during daylight hours; given individual equipment, assigned weapon, and battle buddy; and DD Form 2745, and enemy prisoners of war (EPWs) with equipment and weapons.



Standard: Students will search, segregate, silence, speed, safeguard, and tag (5 Ss and T) EPWs in accordance with FM 3-19.40.

Title: Operations Order Familiarization

Students will read an Operations order and identify key information and instructions during a Tactical Exercise/Operations in accordance with FM 3-0, FM 7-8 and FM 7-10.

Crewserve Weapons Training
Purpose: The student is trained to apply the marksmanship principles: steady position, aiming, breath control, and trigger squeeze. The student will be trained to correctly load, unload, clear, correct a malfunction, and perform maintenance on the M240B, Machine Gun, M249 Machine Gun, and .50 Cal M2 Machine Gun.

Lesson Title: Engage targets with the M240B Machine Gun.

On a heavy weapons range, during daylight hours; Clear the weapon, and correct malfunctions of an M240B Machine Gun, engage targets with an M240B Machine Gun while following all safety requirements


Lesson Title: U.S. Weapons Training (M249 Machine Gun - SAW)

On a heavy weapons range, during daylight hours; Clear the weapon, load the weapon, engage targets in an assigned sector of fire, correct simulated/actual weapons malfunctions and clear the weapon.


Lesson Title: U. S. Weapons Training (.50 Caliber M2)

On a heavy weapons range, during daylight hours; given a M2 machine guns, 25 rounds (25 day) of live linked .50cal ammunition, helmet, IBA, gloves, Eye Pro and an assigned sector of fire.



Basic Communications
Purpose: This Module teaches the primary radio, Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) in the man pack configuration. The student will train on how to inspect components, assemble the radio and perform function checks and load frequencies to enable the student to send a message during operations.

Lesson Title: Basic Military Communications

Condition: In a classroom environment, given an operational radio set, warmed up and set to the net frequency; a call sign information card consisting of: (1) net member duty position, (2) net call sign, (3) suffix list, and (4) message to be transmitted. The net is considered to be secure and authentication is not required.
