What’s New In Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
New Features
Descriptions
The Ribbon
The traditional menus and toolbars have been replaced by the Ribbon, a new device that presents commands organized into a set of tabs. The tabs on the Ribbon display the commands that are most relevant for each of the task areas in the applications.
The Microsoft Office Button
The Office 2007 button, located on the top-left of the window, replaces the File menu and provides access to functionality common across all Office applications, including Opening, Saving, Printing, and Sharing a file.
Contextual Tabs
Appear only when certain objects are selected. Contextual Tabs expose functionality specific only to the object with focus. For example, selecting a picture brings up the Picture Tools tab, which presents options for dealing with the picture. Contextual tabs remain hidden when the object it works on are not selected.

New Features

Descriptions
Live Preview
This new feature temporarily applies formatting on the focused text or object, when any formatting button is moused-over. The temporary formatting is removed when the mouse pointer is moved from the button. This allows users to have a preview of how the option would affect the appearance of the object, without actually applying it.
Mini Toolbar
Mini toolbar, which pops up near the selected text whenever some text is selected, provides easy access to most used formatting commands. When the mouse pointer is away from it, the toolbar becomes semi-transparent to allow an almost unobstructed view of what's beneath. But when the mouse pointer moves over it, it becomes opaque and ready for use.
Quick Access Toolbar
The Quick Access toolbar, which sits in the title bar, serves as a repository of most used functions, regardless of which application is being used, such as save, undo/redo and print. You can customize the Quick Access Toolbar by adding commands to it.
SmartArt Graphic
SmartArt graphics allow you to create diagrams that convey processes or relationships. PowerPoint 2007 provides 115 preset SmartArt graphics layout templates in categories such as list, process, cycle, and hierarchy, organization charts, relationship, matrix and etc.

Design Themes
PowerPoint 2007 provides a set of unified design elements that offers a consistent look for a presentation by using color themes, fonts, and effects, such as shadows, shading, and animations. They work in a similar way as the Design Templates in earlier versions of PowerPoint.
Custom Slide Layouts
With PowerPoint 2007, you can now create your own custom layouts that can contain as many as you want; elements such as charts, tables, movies, pictures, SmartArt graphics, and clip art; and even multiple slide master sets with custom layouts for different slide topics. This is a great feature to keep company slide shows consistent.
New and improved effects
In office PowerPoint 2007, you can add effects like shadow, reflection, glow, soft edges, warp, bevel, and 3-D rotation to shapes, SmartArt graphics, tables, text, and WordArt to your presentation. You can use professional, easy-to-modify effects yourself directly in PowerPoint, without hiring a graphic designer.
New text options
You can create professional-looking presentations with a wide range of text formatting features, including text wrapping within a shape, text in columns or running vertically down a slide, and paragraph-level rulers. In office PowerPoint 2007 you can also add fills, lines, shadows, glow, kerning, and 3-D effects to your text.
Table & chart enhancements
The Ribbon in PowerPoint 2007 offers many easy-to-find options for editing your tables and charts. The Quick Styles galleries present all of the effects and formatting options that you need to create professional-looking tables and charts.
Shared Slide Libraries
In Office PowerPoint 2007, you can share and reuse slide content by storing individual slide files in a centrally located Slide Library on a server running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. You can publish slides from PowerPoint 2007 to a Slide Library, and you can add slides to your PowerPoint presentation from a Slide Library. A shared slide in your presentation can also be updated when the original is changed.

New Features

Presenter View
By using two monitors, you can run your Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation from one monitor (at a podium, for example) while your audience views it on the second monitor. This is useful when you want to control a slide show and run other programs that you don’t want the audience to see.
Save as PDF or XPS
PowerPoint 2007 supports exporting your file to PDF or XPS, which is a fixed-layout electronic file format that preserves document formatting and enables file sharing. This is a great tool for sharing your presentation by email for editing purposes or fast printouts at a reduced file size.
PowerPoint XML file formats
PowerPoint saves files in an Extensible Markup Language (XML) based file format (.pptx). The XML-based format significantly reduces file size dramatically. Chances of data recovery when files are damaged are improved with this new XML file format.

There are many ways to start PowerPoint. The screenshot shown below might be different from your screen because your computer might be set up differently.
