On 29th June 45 in the Wewak sector, PTE Hollebone was medical orderly to a fightingpatrol charged with the task of locating enemy positions on West Spur. When contact was made, one of the leading members of the patrol was wounded and was being forced on by snipers in the position in which he lay. Pte Hollebone at once went forward through heavy LMG fire directed at him from a flank and having dressed his wounds, assisted in carrying the casualty to safety. A further call was then received from another locality and Pte Hollebone again went forward. During the dressing of this casualty's wounds, Pte Hollebone was under continuous rifle and LMG fire and the enemy attempted to grenade him and the wounded man from a distance of fifteen yards. With total disregard for his safety Pte Hollebone completed his task and then assested in the removal by stretcher of the two wounded men through very difficult country. Throughout this action Pte Hollebone displayed personal courage and devotion to duty of the highest order and his example was an inspiration to all personnel engaged. $5000*
