Part 1

In the table below, please indicate which categories of information are of interest to you and/or your research institute. There are two sections: information related to a taxon and information related to specific populations of a taxon. For each category, please tick one of the four right-hand columns to indicate your level of interest (0 = not of interest; 1 = of minor interest; 2 = of interest, but not critical; 3 = critical to research interests). The category “nomenclature” is indicated as critical, since this is fundamental to the information system.

Examples of the type of data that each category refers to are given for each category. For further examples of data types and data standards already discussed by PGR Forum, please refer to the following documents:

  • Draft list of data types

  • The taxon conservation dataset & data standards: a discussion document

  • Workshop 1 report

Part 2

Please use the space below to provide any further types of information that would be of interest to you or your research institute.

e.g. genetic diversity analyses

Part 3

Please formulate a list of six typical queries that you might want to ask the information system.

e.g. List all European CWR populations of Narcissus occurring in protected areas

SECTION C: INFORMATION AVAILABILITY SURVEY
To assist in furthering the development of the crop wild relative information system, please answer the following questions:

  1. Does your institute hold information on crops and/or their wild relatives? YES/NO

If yes, please provide brief details of the type of information held:

  1. Does your institute hold other information that may be of interest to users of the CWR information system i.e. taxon/population information that may indirectly include CWR taxa or sites where CWR taxa occur e.g. GIS layers? YES/NO

If yes, please provide brief details of the type of information held:

  1. If you answered “YES” to question 1 and/or 2:

  1. What type of data management system is used?

  1. Is the data available in XML format (Extensible Markup Language)? YES/NO

  1. Is the information held in the public domain? YES/NO

If yes, how is the information accessed? E.g. web-based searchable database, paper documentation system, on request from institute

If no, are there plans to make the information publicly available in the future (if yes, please outline how)?

Please provide the names and URLs of online resources that you think would be of interest to further develop the CWR information system:

Please make any further comments/suggestions below:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE!
