Director, Life Technologies, Volcano Corporation Matricaria was elected to the board in July 2004 and is currently the chairman of the compensation and organizational development committee. He has also served as a member and then chairman of the governance and nominating committee. In these roles he has been closely involved in cutting edge corporate governance matters, organizational development, director recruitment, and the increasingly challenging issues of board and executive compensation. Matricaria is the former chairman and Chief Executive Officer of St. Jude Medical, Inc. He spent 23 years with Eli Lilly and Company, Inc., serving in several leadership roles. His last position was Executive Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Division of Eli Lilly and Company and President of its North American operations. He also served as President of Eli Lilly International Corporation. In 2002, he was recognized by the medical device industry with a lifetime achievement award. In addition, Matricaria is a member of the board of directors of Hospira, Inc. and Volcano Therapeutics, Inc., and is Trustee Emeritus of the University of Minnesota Foundation. June 2009 |
