RETRAITE – ADJUM DANIEL SAVARD – TECH APPRO

L’adjum Daniel Savard nous quitte après plus de 35 ans de service. Il a joint les F.C. en sept 1972 à Chicoutimi. Il a fait son cours de technicien en approvisionnement à Borden et fut muté à Valcartier en août 1973.

De 1973 à 1977, il a été affecté au 5 BN S du C. Au cours de cette affectation, il a effectué 2 missions, une en Égypte (CC UNEF ME) avec le 73 Cdn Svc Bn, de déc 1973 à mai 1974 et l’autre en Israël (UNDOF) Golan de sept 1975 à fév 1976. De plus, il a participé à l’OP des Jeux olympiques 1976 à Montréal. En avril 1977, il quitte les FC mais nous revient en juillet 1981, il est alors affecté avec la 433 ETAC à Bagotville. Il est promu au grade de cplc en mai 1986 et il sert avec la base jusqu’en novembre 1987. De là, il est affecté en Alberta, plus précisément à Wainwright. Promu au grade de sgt en 1990, il est ensuite muté à Ottawa, comme gérant de carrière pour les soldats et caporaux technicien en approvisionnement. Trois ans plus tard, soit en 1993, il est de nouveau muté à Bagotville pour une autre période de quatre ans. En 1997, après vingt ans d’absence de Valcartier, il nous revient, au 1 R22R, en tant que TQ, il effectue sa troisième mission, de sept 1999 à fév 2000, en Bosnie. En octobre 2000, il va au 5 Bon SG comme responsable des Produits pétroliers jusqu’à l’été 2002, où il est promu adjudant et transféré au 5 BN S du C, à la cie A&T pour 1 an, à la cie Svc pour 2 ans et à la Cie Trsp pour 2 ans. Promu au grade d’adjudant maître en mai 2007, il est encore une fois muté à Bagotville, comme Officier d’Administration de l’Approvisionnement, mais son séjour n’est que de 10 mois. Revenu au 5 BN S du C en avril 2008, il est transféré au 2 R22R comme RQ et part pour sa quatrième mission, en Afghanistan. De retour au pays, il revient au 5 BN S du C, comme Cmdt(I) du pon OCA de la Cie Appro. En juin 2010, il prend les fonctions de SMC de la cie SVC, et un an plus tard, en juillet 2011 il est transféré au QGET, comme SMST, où il terminera ses 35 ans de service.
L’adjum Savard est marié à Lina Dufour, ils ont 3 enfants, Raphaël, Judith, Ève et un petit fils Lorick.
Pour les premiers temps comme pensionné, il prévoit un emploi dans le nord et dans quelques années, une retraite à plein temps avec son épouse Lina. Les voyages et le bricolage seront ses principales activités.
La cérémonie de départ dans la dignité en son honneur se déroulera le 25 mai 12 à 11h00 au mess des Adj&Sgt de Valcartier.

RETIREMENT – MWO DANIEL SAVARD – SUPPLY TECH

Mwo Daniel Savard is leaving the service after 35 years of service. He joined the Forces in sept 1972 in Chicoutimi. He attended his QL3 in Borden as Supply Tech and was posted to Valcartier in August 1973.

From 1973 to 1977, he was posted to 5 BN S du C. During this posting, he did 2 missions, the first one in Egypt (CC UNEF ME) with the 73 Cdn Svc Bn, from deck 1973 to may 1974 and the other in Israel, (UNDOF) Golan from sept 1975 to feb 1976. He also participated to OPS GAMES CAN in Montreal in support of the Olympics games. In april 1977, he quit the Forces but came back in July 1981; he then got posted with 433 ETAC in Bagotville. He was promoted to Mcpl in may 1986 and got transferred to Base until november 1987. From there, he was posted to Wainwright where he served until his promotion to Sgt in may 1990. After this short posting, he headed Ottawa, and had the nice challenge of being the carer manager for the Cpl’s and Pte’s of the Supply trade for 3 years. In 1993, he was posted back to Bagotville for 4 years. In 1997, after 20 years of absence he is back to Valcartier, but this time, with 1 R22R, as the TQ, he did his third mission with the Vandoos, in Bosnia, from sept 1999 to feb 2000. In October 2000, he went to 5 Bon SG as responsible of POL section until summer 2002, where his was promoted to Wo and transferred to5 BN S, to S&T Coy for 1 year, to Adm Coy for 2 years and Tpt Coy for 2 years. Promoted to Mwo in may 2007, he is posted back to Bagotville as SAO, but his stay last only 10 months. Back in Valcartier, in april 2008, he is affected with 2 R22R as the RQ and went for his forth missions, in Afghanistan. Back to Valcartier, in November 2009, he is again transferred back to 5 BN S, as Deputy Commander of the pon MCO of Supply Coy. In june 2010, he took the responsibility as CSM of ADM Coy, and one year later, in july 2011 he is transferred to HQ & Sigs as TSM, where he will be retiring after 35 years of service on the 25th of may 2012.
Daniel is married to Lina Dufour, they have 3 children, Raphaël, Judith, Ève and a grand son Lorick.
For the first year or so, he is planning working up north and after, as a full time pensioned he is looking at for a well deserved retirement with Lina. Travelling and wood working will be his main activities for the rest of his time.

A departure ceremony will be held at Valcartier Garison WO & Sgt's mess on 25th of may 2012 at 11:00.
