Purpose of this document

This document presents the important background material information that will help Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) to organize their work on data specifications development. It will be regularly updated and published on CIRCA portal in the area dedicated to the TWGs.

Document location:

Note: To access the documents on Circa, please use your own login/password.

INSPIRE Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) will also use different materials and tools for their work on the development of the data specifications for Themes of INSPIRE Annex II & III, which will be the basis for the Implementing Rules for Interoperability of spatial data sets and services,.

  1. Data specifications framework documents

Framework documents are the ones that have been developed by the Data Specifications Drafting Team (DS DT) as the first step of the development of the data specifications and following the consultation of stakeholders process. They are used for the data specifications development.

DS-D2.3 Definition of Annex Themes and Scope

The D2.3 is an intermediate document between the theme definitions in the Directive and the definition of the scope of the Theme, which is a basic definition to start the work of the TWG. It is considered a starting point for the development of data specifications. TWGs will receive the overview descriptions of spatial data themes together with the collection of comments from SDICs and LMOs and resolution to comments. TWGs are requested to resolve the comments referred to them and comment/refine the overview descriptions if themes when relevant.

DS-D2.5 Generic Conceptual Model

The generic conceptual model addresses the data harmonization elements, specifies the generic aspects of geometry, topology, time, thematic information, identifiers and relationships between spatial objects The current version includes already the harmonisation issues experienced with the developments for Themes of Annex I

DS-D2.6 Methodology for the Development of Data Specifications

The D2.6 contains the common methodology for the development of data specifications for the INSPIRE Annex spatial data themes. The objective of the document is to facilitate the process of creating harmonised data specifications for the INSPIRE themes and it is intended to assist the facilitators, editors and experts who get involved in the development of data specifications for Annex themes.

DS-D2.7 Guidelines for the Encoding of Spatial Data

The D2.7 specifies guidelines for the encoding of spatial data for the purpose of transfer between two systems, and does not specify how data has to be encoded.
