Introduction 1、 Kunming Botanical Garden The Kunming Botanical Garden, established in 1938, is a multifunctional comprehensive botanical garden which integrates scientific research, science popularization, tourism and teaching and has remarkable regional characteristics. It is the biggest base in southwest area of China for studying diversity of subtropical plants and seed resource storage and a seed introduction and cultivation center for plants such as camellia, lily magnolia and begonia. The opening area of the garden is 44 hectares. More than 6000 species and cultivars of conservation plants have been collected and 14 topic gardens have been built, including camellia garden, Yuxi cuckoo garden, leaf and fruit viewing garden, Baicao garden，lily magnolia garden， Fuli Palace(greenhouse group)，gymnospermous plants garden，arboretum and so on.  
2、 Rose Garden of Yang Rose Company in Yangzonghai The Kunming Yang Rose Gardening Company is a private enterprise especially engaging in research, development and promotion of new species and new technology and production and sales of fresh cut flowers. The company mainly produces various cut flowers, cut branches and cut leaves of rose, hydrangea and unique woody flowers of the southern hemisphere, which are sold to domestic big and middle cities, Japan, Korea, Australia, Hongkong and countries in Southeast Asia. The company devotes itself to research and development of new species and innovation of new technology and now is the national-level flower and plant engineering and technological research center, the research, development and promotion center for Chinese rose and the center for unique woody flower cutting, having the first self-owned intellectual property of new rose cultivar ‘Bing Qing’in China.
3、Dian Lake is the biggest fresh water lake in Yunnan province. It is reputed as “a pearl of Yungui plateau” and it is also named Kunming Lake or Kunming Pond. The lake located at the foot of the Western Hills in the south of Kunming province. It is 5 km far from downtown, with its north end next to the Grand View Park of Kunming city and the south end into Jinning county. It has been a resort for spending a holiday and avoiding summer heat in history, which makes it the first place in the tourism province of Yunnan. The lake is surrounded by plenty of scenic spots, facing the Western Hill Forest Park and the Grand View Pavilion on the other bank. Yunnan Nationalities Village, the national sports training base and Yunnan Nationalities Museum Other places of interests are connected to each other but also relatively independent. They rely on each other and turn to be an ideal place for sightseeing, entertainment and holiday.
4、Golden Horse Green Jade Chicken Arch (Jinmabiji Arch) is located in the crossing of Sanshi street and Jinbi road in the center of Kunming. It is the symbol of Kunming. It’s about 12 meters tall and 18 meters wide. The carved beams and painted rafters are as good as they get. The eastern arch was called golden horse arch because it was close to the Golden Horse Hill, while the western arch was names after the Green Jade Chicken Hill which was next to it. Golden Horse Green Jade Chicken Arch was built in the reign of Ming Emperor Xuan De, which means it has a history of about 400 years. It needs a period of 60 years for such a wonderful scene of “reflection in a particular moment” to show itself, due to the angle formed by the sun, moon and earth's orbit.
5、Lijiang Old Town The Lijiang Old Town, also called Dayan Old Town, is the central city of Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County with the elevation of 2400m, in which endogenous oxygen deficiency should be prevented during travel. The Lijiang Old Town is one of the famous historic and cultural cities in China, one of the World Cultural Heritage, a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction and a National Civilized Scenery Tourist Area Demonstration Site. Located in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, in the southwest of China, the Lijiang Old Town is located in the middle of Lijiang Damp under the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with the Elephant Mountain and the Jinhong Mountain in the north and the Lion Mountain in the West. The Lijiang Old Town, the Langzhong Old Town in Sichuan province, the Pingyao Old Town in Shanxi province and the Shexian Old Town in Anhui province, which are the second batch of famous national historical and cultural cities, are well known as the best-preserved four old towns. The Lijiang Old Town is one of the two old towns without ancient city walls in Chinese historical and cultural cities. However, the Lijiang Old Town had ancient city walls in history. It is only one of the second batch of the approved Chinese historical and cultural cities and one of the two old towns who have succeeded in applying for the honor of World Cultural Heritage, while the other one is the Pingyao Old Town in Shanxi Province.
Traveling north for ten miles from Lijiang Old Town, you arrive at the Xuesong natural village of Yuhu administrative village at the southern foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. In Naxi language, the village is called Wuluken, meaning a village at the foot of a snow mountain. In 1922, Joseph Rock (1884-1962), an Austrians-American, in his character as an explorer, a writer and a photographer of the National Geographic Magazine, came to Yunnan, China, from the Myanmar border, and then went to Lijiang in northeastern Yunnan from Simao in southern Yunnan. He has lived there at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain for 27 years in Yuhu Xuesong Village for most of the time. He recorded that Wuluken, a village with beautiful environment located at the slope of a pure snow mountain in Lijiang, is protected by a guardian angel-the main peak called Shanzidou, and the headquarters of the Yunnan Expedition of the National Geographic Society is set up here.
7、Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden The Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden, 24 km away from the urban area of Lijiang, is located in the south of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yunnan, occupying 278.8 hectares with 2680m-4300m stereoscopic elevation. Thanks to the special geographic location, the big altitude difference, rich biological species resources and various unique species, Lijiang becomes one of the 10 hot spots with diverse creatures in the world, and one of three unique centers for spermatophyte in China. According to the investigations of Kunming Plant Research Institute, there are 145 families, 785 genus and 3200 kinds of spermatophyte in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain area. After the Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden is built, a science popularization exhibition and ecological tourism park with centralized alpine plants will be initially built and opened to the public in the next 5 years. A rhododendron specialized garden will be built and 20 kinds of Chinese rhododendrons will be returned from Chinese plants collected from The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. In the next 10-15 years, there will be 4000 kinds of plant species in the whole garden. As being built at low latitude and high altitude, the Lijiang Alpine Botanical Garden is praised as the most high altitude botanical garden in the world by Chinese and English botanists.
8、Tiger Leaping Gorge The Tiger Leaping Gorge, well known by its precipitousness, is one of deepest gorges in China. The Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into the Shangri-La section and the Lijiang section. The Shangri-La section is the National AAAA Tourism Scenic Spot. The gorge is divided into three segments called Upper Gorge, Middle Gorge and Lower Gorge, and a Gaolu hiking trail in which the gorge trail is praised as one of the classic hiking trail in the world and is mainly formed by the Gaolu hiking trail and the middle gorge hiking trail. The gorge is loaded in Tiger Leaping Gorge Town in Shangri-La city, about 96km from the Shangri-La city and 80km from Lijiang city, northeast Longpan village of Yulong Naxi autonomous county, the original Lijiang Naxi autonomous county, in Yunnan province. The gorge is 17km in length. The main peak of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the south is 5586m in altitude and the Zhonghaba Snow Mountain in the north is 5396 in altitude, with a 30-60m river therebetween. The altitude of the upper gorge mouth of the gorge is 1800m and the altitude of the lower gorge mouth is 1630m. It is 2500-3000m from mountain ridges in both sides to the surface of the river. The gorge is very steep and has a grand sight. There are continuous 7 steep ridges of the fast-flowing river in the gorge, with 216m difference in short distance. You can hear the flowing sound of the river in thousands of miles. The river was cut off by landslide before, so colluvial clay is left in the river. In addition, there is also a Tiger Leaping Gorge in Xinyi, Guangdong.
9、First Bend of Yangtze River lies between Shigu Town-in Lijiang City in the northwest of Yunnan province- and Shasongbi village in the south of Shangri_La county. Its elevation is 1850 meters. When Yangtze River flows to Shasongbi vilage in Shangri-La county, it turns suddenly about 100 degrees to the northeast, forming a big turn of a rare”V”shape. Such a spectacular sight of “ river flows into big reverse, water runs with great surprise” was called "First Bend of Yangtze River". In Shasongbi, the flow is wide and smooth, the water is clear and quite, and the green willow on both side are growing in line, which makes this village an excellent place to watch the sunset in the First Bend of Yangtze River. The fishing boats sail on the green river, scattering the nets where water drops shining brightly. What an amazing scene.
10、Shigu Town is located in the west of Lijiang Old Town. It has always been the strategically important port for military history. This town got its name because there was a drum-shaped stele caved with white marble, which is one of the earliest steles found in Lijiang. The realm of this town is the hillside area that Yunling Mountain gradually descend to Jinsha River valley, where the famous "First Bend of Yangtze River" came into being. On the west bank of Jinsha River built a Red army’s Long March Monument. Shigu Town is one of “the 500 test units of national town construction”. It has been listed as one of “the 100 national classic scenic spots of red tourism” and ranked firstly as one of the choice tours of revolutionary heritage.
11、Songzanlin Lamasery Construction of the Songzanlin Lamasery began in 1679 AD and was completed two years later, located about 5km north of the Shangri-La County, at the foot of Foping Mountain. The lamasery, known as 'the Tibetan Art Museum', seems like a group of ancient castles full of treasures made by people of the Tibet nationality. It is one of 13 lamaseries which are ordered to be built by the 5th Dalai and Kangxi Emperor in 1679 AD. The lamasery, also known as 'the little Potala Palace', is not only one of the famous monasteries in Yunnan province, but also the center of Shamanism in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.
12、Shangri-La Alpine Botanical Garden (Napa Lake Scenic Spot) The Shangri-La Alpine Botanical Garden (Zhongdian) covers an area of 7247 hectares, near the Shangri-La County, including the original alpine bright coniferous forest and alpine dark coniferous forest areas at both sides of the Shuoduogang River. There are more than 900 kinds of native plants in the garden, including national key protected wild plants: isoetes hypsophila, sorolepidium glaciale, podophyllum hexandrum, panacis majoris rhizome, crataegus chungtienensis and so on. Secondary vegetation include alpine pine forest, broadleaved deciduous forest, sclerophyll quercus semicarpifolia, bush fallow, limestone bush fallow, subalpine meadow and so on.
13、Dukezong Old Town The Dukezong Old Town is the best-preserved and biggest Tibetan town and the hub of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. It was said that Zhongdian, i.e., the Jiangtang, the Litang in Sichuan, and the Batang were fiefdoms of the three sons of the Tibetan King. In history, Zhongdian has been the important place for politics, military, economy and culture in Tibetan area in Yunnan, going through wars and prosperity for thousands of years. 14、Potatso National Park Located at the center of the "Three Parallel Rivers" world natural heritage site, the Potatso National Park, 22km from urban area of the Shangri-La City, is mainly composed of the Shudu Lake, Bitahai Nature Reserve and Xiagei Tibetan Culture Village, with the total area of 300 square kilometers. The Potatso National Park, a provincial-level natural reserve with the altitude from 3500m to 4159m, is also the most important scenic spot in Shangri-La and the most important part of the "Three Parallel Rivers" scenic spot.
