CAREER DAY

This was probably one of our most successful Career Days ever! Thanks so much to our guests who presented at our annual Career Day Celebration on Monday, April 30th. Our students really enjoyed the variety of presentations and demonstrations. And, we would like to thank Dr. Conn for putting this together for us. Great job!

ESTIMATION JARS

Who said math couldn’t be fun? Each grade level created a jar containing a quantity of items and displayed them in our lobby display case. Students from each class submitted their estimations of just how many items were in those jars. The student whose estimate was the closest, won the jar! Winners were: Johanna Villafuerte, Mikayla Fadlin, Leah Boone, Amari Garvin, Hanna Nganje, Sharise Hall, Mikun Pecku, Edlom Kandja, and Rabiatu Allie. Congratulations!

MOMS AND MUFFINS

We are looking forward to our annual Moms and Muffins event scheduled for Friday, May 11th. It is always so nice to see all the moms enjoying their special day! Invitations are being sent home in today’s Friday Folders. Don’t forget to RSVP. (Also…remember that Mother’s Day is on May 13th!)

SPRING BOOK FAIR!

This is our famous “BOGO” FREE Book Fair! Opening on April 30th, when you buy any book, you get one ABSOLUTELY FREE (of equal or lesser value, of course). This sale runs through May 4th. On Wednesday, May 2nd, the book fair will be open from 6:00 – 7:30 PM for your shopping convenience. Don’t miss it!

THANK YOU HOME DEPOT (Store # 2571)…especially Bintou and Ebony!

Each year, our 5th grade students beautify our school by weeding, planting, and mulching the front of our building and this year is no exception! Under the leadership of Mrs. Haney (Grade 5) and the generosity of Home Depot, Montpelier is blooming and beautiful. We can add “Proud” to our motto of “Productive, Positive, Peaceful.” Thank you students, Mrs. Haney and, of course, Home Depot!

SIXTH GRADE RECOGNITION

The end-of-year promotion ceremony for the fifth grade students is scheduled for June 5th and, for the sixth grade students, June 4th from 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM. Students and their two (2) ticketed guests will enjoy light refreshments and an academic awards assembly in the Multi-purpose room at Montpelier Elementary. Invitations and tickets will be mailed to the students’ addresses on record on May 13 if there are no outstanding debts (such as overdue or lost library books, damaged or lost textbooks, and/or returned checks). Once all financial obligations are met, the tickets will be released.

SMILE! IT’S TIME FOR YOUR PERSONALITY PORTRAITS!

Strawbridge Studios, Inc. will be coming to Montpelier to take school pictures on the morning of Monday, May 7th. If you would like your student to be photographed on May 7th, complete an order form (order forms were sent home in the Friday Folders on April 27th), select your photo package, place payment in the provided envelope and return to your child’s teacher. Only students presenting payment will be photographed. Participating students are not required to wear uniforms and may wear school appropriate clothing on Picture Day.

JUMP-ROPE-FOR-HEART

Jump-Rope-For-Heart was held on April 11th. What a wonderful opportunity this was to participate in a worthy cause of saving lives while having fun and being fit! Our totals are just under $2,000! Thank you, Montpelier for your support and special thanks to Coach Mitsak and Coach Miranda for coordinating this worthy event.

ATTENTION 6TH GRADE FAMILIES

Recently, blue registration forms (PA-14) were sent home with all sixth grade students along with a letter explaining the need to provide current proof of residency (deed, lease, property tax bill, mortgage statement) and updated registration information. This is required prior to the students advancing to middle school at the end of this school year. It is especially important for those students who have been enrolled at Montpelier since kindergarten…but is required of ALL sixth graders. If you just returned the blue form without current proof of residency, your child’s folder is incomplete and will not be processed for middle school. The middle school will not accept incomplete files and will require paperwork completion prior to starting school in the fall.

REQUIREMENT FOR “SHARED HOUSING” FAMILIES

“Shared Housing” is when the registering parent/guardian is NEITHER the lease holder nor the property owner. When this occurs, the lease holder/property owner AND the registering parent/guardian provide the school with a notarized “Shared Housing Disclosure” and the deed, lease, property tax bill or mortgage statement of the lease holder/property owner. (Two pieces of mail showing the date, name of parent/guardian and address will be requested.) PGCPS now requires that these documents be updated and resubmitted each year.
