**The student and alumni art exhibition showed a diverse sampling of the talents & artistic styles at SG. Art Club greatly appreciates the participation of many artists, student, staff viewers and voters. The first place winner of the art contest was freshman Clarissa Cong for her painted wood candle holder. Alum Jian Liang placed second with her painting titled "Offering". Third place offered a great variety with a 6 way tie between junior Mei Chau, freshman Yiwen Gao, senior Isabella Tam, senior Eric Thai, senior Cuiting Yu, and sophomore Iris Zhou. *Attention all those who would like to join the San Gabriel Football team: Spring Practices starts on April 18th, Monday evening at 5:00pm. To play Football in the Fall & you are committed to doing so, you must come and sign up at practice. We are available Monday night in S5 and on the field, or Tuesday through Thursday, we will be on the field or in the weight room after school. Please see Coach Ledesma ASAP if you want to play!!! Health Tips:
New research from Rush University Medical Center studied almost 300 older adults and found that those who read books, wrote and did other mentally stimulating activities in childhood and into middle age had a 15% lower decline in memory compared to those who did very little reading/writing/studying. So read, write & study – you’ll have the last laugh.
