To provide water and sanitation services in both quality and quantity at a commercially sustainable level to the population of the peri-urban areas of Lusaka.
Objectives
The objectives of the Peri-Urban department are:

Increase water supply services coverage in all peri-urban areas.
-
Improve sanitation services in all peri-urban areas.
-
Reduce unaccounted for water to 40% and installation of meters.
-
Increase revenue collection efficiency to 85%.

The major functions of the Peri-urban Department are:

Be the interface between the LWSC and the peri-urban customers.
-
Improve community participation and carry out community sensitisation.
-
Carry out operation and maintenance in all peri-urban areas.
-
Revenue collection.
-
Water demand management in peri-urban areas.
-
Attend and resolve all customer complaints and customer care issues.
-
Provide water connections to new customers.
-
Prepare investment plans for the LWSC and for donor support.
-
Advise and monitor the water the Lusaka Water Trusts to ensure cost recovery and sustainability.
-
Prepare monthly reports for the management of the LWSC.
