1Open Reel Pre-Recorded Tapes
I have not auditioned all of the tapes below, but those to which I have listened are in excellent condition, and all are so guaranteed (understanding that early 2-track tapes are delicate and require very careful handling). When a listing contains more music than would fit on a single LP, I have indicated the LP equivalent in parentheses as I do with the record listings; I am no longer counting the reels also. Tapes are 7 1/2 ips, 4-Track, non-Dolby and include libretti for vocal works unless otherwise indicated. With some of the rarer Barclay-Crocker issues I have placed a number at the end of the listing indicating the total number of copies of the tape ever made. In one of their last flyers, BC published these numbers to give an idea of which items were particularly scarce. For those of you specifically interested in them, here are the lot numbers of the Barclay Crocker issues in this catalog: #1, 7, 13, 15, 16, 133, 135-7, 141, 154, 158-63, 168, 171, 176, 178-9, 181-3, 185-6, 188, 193, 195, 201, 203, 211-2, 219, 223, 226, 228, 233, 237-40 & 242. With some of the "audiophile" material I have noted reviews or comments I have found of a tape's LP counterpart (or the tape itself) in The Absolute Sound by the letters TAS followed by issue number, colon, page number (i.e. 58:139). The following codes also apply:

3 3/4 = 3 3/4 ips D = Dolby NL = No Libretto BC = Barclay Crocker issue
