SUMMARY

In India more than 100 plant species are virus infected but major virus infected economic crops are Papaya, Chilli, Tomato, Watermelon, Potato, Sugarcane, Beans, and Soybean etc. Increasing numbers of sequence submissions in public databases shows exponential of degree of virus infection.
We analyzed phylogeny of PRSV Nib gene KF840684, KF840685 and HC-Pro gene KJ123750 of Papaya ringspot virus as well as DNA-A of Chilli leaf curl virus isolates KJ700653,KJ700656 and Rose leaf curl virus isolate KJ739692 and their associated betasatellites KJ700654, KJ700655 and KJ739691 respectively.
Presence, of different out-group’s in phylogenetic tree shows emergence of new virus species from other geographical origins.

Molecular characterization of potyviruses and begomoviruses is the necessary step to overcome their infection which will help in designing reliable management strategies against potyvirusand begomoviruses.

It will also increase our knowledge on the variability and evolution of plant viruses and enhance information about natural host of the viruses.

Key words: Potyvirus, Begomovirus, Phylogenetic tree, India.
