Chairman Wilson reminded members of the Governor’s budget address, to be televised tonight at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Hampton gave an update on one of the KACo Affiliates’ top issues, the office of Constable. While there are two bills dealing with a constitutional amendment to eliminate the office, there have been no sponsors for a bill to “strip” the duties of the Constable – which is the preferable route expressed by Legislative Committee members. Hampton and other KACo staff are planning to meet with Sen. Julie Denton this week on the bill she has proposed, and there will be an update on this issue at the next Legislative Committee meeting.
