"Burst Into the New Millennium” was the 2000-01 theme.
From May 31, 2000 through April 30, 2001, the division lost four chapters and 10% of the membership.
One chapter was chartered during the 2000-01 year. A corporate Chapter, Dynegy Chapter in Houston, Texas, chartered June 9th, sponsored by Texas-Louisiana Division. Las Colinas Chapter sponsored the Athens Chapter in Athens, Greece, which chartered on March 16. Because the Athens Chapter is located in another country, Texas-Louisiana Division did not receive credit for this chapter. Vickie Wilson CPS, Las Colinas Chapter and President Potts were able to attend the chartering.
Division Officers presented programs during the 19 chapter visits made throughout the year and presented four leadership workshops, one of which closed this years Annual Meeting. President Potts and Secretary Wyatt participated in the IAAP University training hosted by Las Colinas Chapter.
Division members serving on the international level included:

Retirement Centers Trust Board
The 2000 International Convention was held in July 2000 in Chicago with President Potts attending as Delegate and President-Elect Arcides attending as Alternate. The entire Texas-Louisiana Division Board attended this conference.
The Southwest District Conference was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, hosted by the Oklahoma City and American Fidelity Chapters. President Potts attended as Delegate and President-Elect Arcides attended as alternate. All of the Texas-Louisiana Division Board attended this conference.
109 Texas and Louisiana administrative professionals earned the CPS designation as a result of the May and November examinations. Texas remains as one of the top ten states of CPS holders with a total of 5,541 since 1951.
The Division donated $200 each to the Retirement Centers Trust Fund, Research and Education Foundation and the IAAP Building Fund. A Retirement Trust Foundation paver was purchased in honor of 1999-2000 Division President Ginger Caffee CPS as well as a paver in honor of International President Candy W. Daniels CPS. Texas-Louisiana Division won a paver at the Southwest District Conference.
At the International Conference, President Potts was able to present the totals of donations amounting to $10,800 to the Building Fund; $2,000 to the Retirement Centers Trust; and $2,000 to Research and Education in the name of International President Daniels on behalf of the entire Texas-Louisiana Division.
The Division awarded six (6) scholarships of $500 each to:

Scarlet Garcia Carrollton, Texas

Blanche Salinas-Gallardo El Paso, Texas

The 49th Annual Meeting was held May 18–20, 2001, at the Radisson Hotel in Wichita Falls, Texas, with the theme “Window to the World." Total registration was 122 members representing 32 chapters and 5 members-at-large.
Certificates were awarded to five chapters who gained the greatest percentage net increase in membership from July 1, 2000 through April 30, 2001, in the following categories:

5 – 15 members Dogwood Chapter, 33% net gain

16 – 35 members Lake Country Chapter, Mt. Pleasant/Pittsburg,

Texas, 41% net gain


36 – 55 members Rio Grande Chapter, Galveston, Texas, 13% net gain

56 – 85 members No winner

85 + members Medical Center Chapter, Houston, Texas 24% net gain
For sponsoring a new chapter in Athens, Greece, the T-L Division awarded Las Colinas chapter $50.00. Las Colinas Chapter was also congratulated for having been named the 2000-2001 Avery Dennison $3,000 Award winner.
Juanita Nugent CPS, Pelican Chapter, Shreveport, Louisiana, was recognized as the 2001 Division Member of the Year during the Division Member of the Year luncheon.

President Arcides' theme for the 2001-02 year was "A Treasure of Opportunities.” Membership on July 1, 2001 was 1,633 and 1,636 on June 30, 2002, representing a 1% net increase in membership and placing the division in second place standing within Southwest District.
Three chapters were chartered during the 2001-02 year. The Woodlands Area in The Woodlands, Texas chartered in November under Greenspoint Area Chapter’s sponsorship. The Plano Chapter in Plano Texas chartered in June, 2002, sponsoring chapter, Las Colinas, and the Texaco/Chevron in Houston, Texas, sponsored by T-L Division, also chartered in June. These three chapters represented a net increase in chapters earning the division an award of $250 from International Headquarters.

The 2001 International Convention was held in July, 2001 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with President Arcides attending as Delegate and President-Elect McMillen attending as Alternate.
The Southwest District Conference was held in Santa Clara, California, hosted by the Crossroads, El Camino and Mission Trail Chapters. President Arcides attended as Delegate and President-Elect McMillen attended as Alternate.
There were 49 Texas and Louisiana administrative professionals who earned the CPS designation and 36 earning the CAP rating during the 2001-02 year. The total to date of CPS holders totals 59,717. Texas was named as one of the top ten states of CPS holders with a total of 4,706, and of CAP holders with 55.
The Division donated $200 each to the Retirement Trust Foundation, Research and Education and to the IAAP Building Fund. Additionally, $50 was donated to the Retirement Trust Foundation for the purchase of a patio paver in honor of Jackie Potts CPS, immediate past division president.
The Division awarded six (6) scholarships of $500 each to Sadie Blanchard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gabriela Castellano, El Paso, Texas, Russell Janicek, Galveston, Texas, Ratko Jankovic, Beeville, Texas, Diana Villarreal, Victoria, Texas, and Jennifer Zerangue, Carencro, Louisiana.
The 50th Annual Meeting was held May 17–19, 2002, at the Hotel Acadiana in Lafayette, Louisiana, with the theme “Festival of Learning." Total registration was 148 members representing 32 chapters and 2 members-at-large.
Certificates were awarded to five chapters who gained the greatest percentage net increase in membership from July 1, 2001 through April 30, 2002, in the following categories:

5 – 15 members – Trendsetters Chapter, Houston, Texas, 100% net gain

16 – 35 members – LaPine Chapter, Alexandria, Louisiana, 42% net gain

36 – 55 members – Exxon/Mobil Chapter, Houston, Texas, 27% net gain

56 – 85 members – There were no changes in this category.

85 + members – Medical Center Chapter, Houston, Texas 28% net gain


For sponsoring a new chapter, Greenspoint Area Chapter and Las Colinas received an award of $50.00 each for the chapter. Each new chapter received an IAAP banner from the Division.
Char Lin Woodard CPS, Greenspoint Area Chapter, was recognized as the 2002 Division Member of the Year during the Division Member of the Year luncheon.
Division Officers presented programs during the 19 chapter visits made throughout the year and presented a leadership workshop to close the Annual Meeting.
