The traveling CPS Award was presented to Huisache Chapter (Port Lavaca) for having 35% of its members sitting for the CPS examination. They were allowed to retain the award for having received it for two consecutive years.
Five new chapters were installed:

San Jacinto (Baytown) by Galveston County

Carbon Capers (Welasco-Pharr-McAllen) by Sundial (Harlingen)

Coastal Plains (Bay City - New Gulf - Wharton) by Houston

Garland by Big D (Dallas)

HonLa (Houma) on 3/16/61 by NOLA (New Orleans)


The 9th Annual Meeting was held in Corpus Christi with DeLeon, Desk Set, and Huisache Chapters (Port Lavaca) as hosts. The first time three chapters served as hosts.
Betty Harless CPS, Port Chapter (Lake Charles), was selected Division Secretary of the Year.

Abilene Chapter relinquished its charter.


Golden Triangle Chapter installed the first FSA Chapter in the division and in the Southwest District, and Caprock Chapter (Lubbock) installed the second.
Division member Illien Austin CPS, Houston Chapter, was elected Southwest District vice president for two terms.
The 10th Annual Meeting was held May 18-20, 1962, in Baton Rouge with Baton Rouge Chapter as host. The attendance was 216 members representing 38 of 46 chapters.
Vanda Hafer CPS, Huisache Chapter (Port Lavaca), was selected Division Secretary of the Year.

During the year a Division Officers Procedure Manual was compiled. Also, an Annual Meeting Manual Committee was appointed who prepared an Annual Meeting Manual for use by the division officers and the annual meeting coordinator representing the host chapter.
L. H. Hallmark, Shell Refinery, was appointed a management member of the Institute for Certifying Secretaries.
The 11th Annual Meeting was held May 17-19 in Austin, with Tower Lights Chapter as host, with a record attendance of 231 members, representing 35 of the division’s 45 chapters (including chapter-at-large).
The bylaws were amended to provide for the election of a vice president from Louisiana and a vice president from Texas, to be effective at the election held at the 1964 annual meeting.
Ann Parsons CPS, Beaumont Chapter, was selected Division Secretary of the Year. Gladys Jurchak CPS, Houston Chapter, was named Southwest District Secretary of the Year.

During this fiscal year, the Chapter Procedure Manual was completely reviewed and updated. The Division Annual Meeting Manual was completed in final form.
Seguin Chapter relinquished its charter, effective June 1, 1963, and Odessa Chapter was installed by Permian Chapter (Midland).
The 12th Annual Meeting was held May 15-17, in Dallas with Big D Chapter as host. Attendance was 298 (37 out of 45 chapters were represented).
Edna Oates CPS, Big D Chapter (Dallas), was selected Division Secretary of the Year.
