Students for DC Vote – Facebook

Students for DC Vote work to raise awareness about DC Vote and the issue of DC voting rights on college campuses. The McGill chapter is the 23rd of its kind.

A club that aims to unite avid American students and discuss current political events and topics of interest. This club also facilitates networking with American political organizations and makes it easier for American students at McGill to vote during US elections.

The McGill Debating Union (commonly referred to simply as "the Union") is an organization dedicated to providing McGill students the opportunity to explore and improve their debating and public speaking skills. The Union does this by sending its debaters to competitive tournaments, by hosting tournaments of its own, and by providing biweekly meetings where debate is demonstrated, taught, and practiced. The Union also organizes or assists with debate-related events on campus, such as exhibition debates.

Elections McGill is an independent and impartial agency of the Students' Society of McGill University (SSMU). We organize and carry out all SSMU elections and referenda. As the independent electoral agency of SSMU, we safeguard the integrity of the electoral process at McGill by enforcing the electoral regulations of the society. The existence and independence of Elections McGill is mandated in the SSMU Constitution and By-Laws which explains that; "This organization shall be the sole body to administer the Society's elections and referenda."


Pearson House

Pearson House is a student-run policy group. We research and discuss issues that affect us as students and citizens in the aim of producing policy papers which we then publish. By putting our ideas on paper they are taken more seriously by members of our advisory board which consists of members of parliament, senators, professors and other experts who have the ability to take our ideas off the drawing boards and into the heart of Canadian policy making. Political Issues Club – Facebook

The Political Issues Club is a discussion group that welcomes McGill students of all political backgrounds. We meet once every two weeks to debate current issues in the news that affect us all as citizens of Canada and of the world. We also host & co-host exciting and relevant special events throughout the school year, such as Q+As with politicians running in current elections.

The Quebec Public Interest Research Group at McGill is a non-profit, student-run organization that conducts research, education, and action on environmental and social justice issues at McGill University and in the Montreal community. With such a broad mandate, QPIRG brings together a wide range of activists interested in many different issues. QPIRG-McGill is run by a volunteer Board of Directors which is responsible for QPIRG management, budgeting, project development, staff, working groups and the development of the group's political vision.

The Newman Students' Society (NSS) is a home for Catholic students at McGill University. We are a student group affiliated with McGill's Newman Centre. The NSS is composed of McGill students and holds club status with the Students' Society of McGill University. The Newman Students' Society holds regular events, coordinates with the Newman Center on Masses, spiritual events and the usage of the Newman Centre.

Unitarian Universalists at University United (UU Crew)

Unitarian Universalists at University United (or UU Crew) is a UU campus ministry group for McGill students and other young adults in Montreal. We generally meet once every two weeks for a potluck dinner, worship, and conversation. Hillel Montreal is a Jewish student organization that represents the needs of the diverse Jewish student population in Montreal. Hillel Montreal aims to create an atmosphere of openness where all students feel welcome and comfortable to actively participate in programming or attending events. Hillel runs Shabbat and Jewish holiday programming throughout the year. It supports the democratic State of Israel. Hillel’s advocacy wing also develops ways to influence public opinion, influence public leaders and make things comfortable for Jewish students on campus. Hillel’s Israel culture wing promotes Israeli culture through educational seminars, food, festivals and other programs. The Hillel House is a great place to socialize, hangout, mix and mingle.

Mibreishit provides opportunities for religious Jews to interact and exchange information, hold events relating to the study of Zionism, provide opportunities for charity within the Montreal Jewish community and create a forum for discussion about Jewish laws and customs. Mibreishit caters to the religious, modern orthodox community.

The Shia Ismaili Muslims are a community of ethnically and culturally diverse peoples living in over 25 countries around the world, united in their allegiance to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan (known to the Ismailis as Mawlana Hazar Imam) as the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader), and direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).

Thaqalayn Muslim Association

Actively contributing to the putting forth of diverse views which encourage dialog and mutual understanding between peoples of different thoughts, ideologies and religions. Thaqalayn addresses modern issues in the light of Islamic thought. It participates in the flourishing of student life at McGill University by organizing activities that allow students to experience Islamic Heritage. Achieving its objectives in accordance to the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Way of Mohammad (PBUH), the Messenger of God, it adheres to the Ja’afari Twelve-Imamite Islamic school of thought.

Art of Living Club

The Art of Living Club has been established in order to enhance the quality of student life.


Through the Art of Living Club, students learn practical and easy techniques that relieve stress and enable them to develop their full potential. Our activities include weekly meetings with guided meditation, wisdom and discussion sessions. In addition we also invite guest speakers, and have yoga sessions. Such activities enable students to come together in a friendly and joyful environment where they may inspire one another with energy, enthusiasm and creativity thus bringing awareness and depth into their lives as students. At the same time, it motivates students to participate in, develop and implement community-based service projects.

The Association for Bahá'í Studies at McGill University (ABS) is an organization founded to promote academic inquiry into religious, ethical and moral responses to the social crises threatening our society. With specific emphasis on the teachings, history and philosophy of the Bahá'í Faith, we focus on overcoming the antagonism, injustice, and partisan interests that act as barriers to a prosperous and united world. We invite everyone to bring their personal experience and viewpoints to our ongoing effort to apply Bahá'í principles to real world problems. We strive to achieve our vision by hosting, inter alia, lectures, roundtable discussions, symposia, conferences and workshops. We also make efforts in strengthening bonds of friendship and community by organising a wide range of social and service outings.


Soka Gakkai International Student Club (SGI)

The core philosophy of the SGI can be summed up by the concept of "Human revolution." This is the idea that the self-motivated inner change of a single individual positively affects the larger web of life and results in the rejuvenation of human society. The SGI movement has its roots in the life-affirming philosophy of Nichiren, a Buddhist monk who lived in 13th-century Japan.


Spiritual Awareness Fellowship

Mission statement: To awaken and nurture awareness of the Indwelling Presence of the Divine, to share the timeless wisdom and teachings of the saints and sages of East and West, and to support one another in walking the spiritual path. Special emphasis is placed on the teachings of Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet.

Offers first aid for events, and available in residence throughout the school year. The largest authorized provider of Canadian Red Cross first aid courses in English throughout Quebec.


McGill Nightline

Offers general information- restaurant phone numbers, health clinics, class schedules, etc.- and lends an ear for any trouble you may be having. All calls are anonymous and confidential. The line is open 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. throughout the school year. (514) 398.MAIN


McGill Walksafe - Facebook

Provides company and safety to students walking alone at night. Volunteers with walksafe jackets can either be called at (514|)398.2498 or found patrolling around campus.

Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) - http://www.acemcgill.com/

As the Canadian branch of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) their goal is to apply the business skills we learn in University to help people less fortunate and promote entrepreneurship. The core of our program is our educational and SIFE projects. These projects educate both our members and people in the community about entrepreneurship, free markets and ethical behavior. ACE McGill also dedicates efforts and resources to its micro-businesses. These ventures act as fundraisers for our program and local charities and promote critical project management and organization skills.

We are the McGill Chapter to our parent organization CIR, which is an organization that collects information about crucial world issues and provides policy advice and data to other organizations and sometimes even government bodies. We approach scholars, researchers, officials and other relevant people in the field for interviews and ask them for their opinions on whatever the current global issues are. CIR is based in Washington DC and has regional offices in many US cities.


Engineers Without Borders - Facebook

The McGill chapter of Engineers Without Borders is one of 26 University EWB chapters across Canada. It was founded in the Winter of 2001 with a handful of members. EWB McGill has since hosted the first ever EWB National Conference entitled "Bridging the Gap … Engineering Solutions for the Developing World" in January 2002. It has also sent out a team to the Philipines to advance information technology learning in the rural areas of the country and is now striding towards introducing a new course curriculum at McGill.


Financial Markets Group (FMG) - Facebook

The Financial Markets Group, FMG, was founded in August 2001 as the Student Stock Exchange Concilium, SSEC, as an affiliate of the Student Society of McGill University. FMG is an investment club that is open to McGill University undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in all areas of study. FMG seeks to generate interest in investing through education and market speculation. FMG welcomes a diverse group of students from all faculties of McGill University and all investment experience levels, from novice to advanced investors.

Golden Key International Honour Society is the world's largest honour society, establishing chapters in US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and United Arab Emirates. Our goal is to serve the community and to send new kinds of leadership in the world.

The McGill Investment Club (“MIC”) is a multi-faceted club, open to all students in all faculties, with two main components: an Investment Management side and an Investment Banking side. The MIC strives to help educate students about the financial markets via seminars, speaker-series, information sessions, trips, and forums on market-specific topics. It also takes part in stock-simulation competitions against other universities from across the country. Furthermore, the MIC runs and maintains a real stock portfolio and, in tandem with this portfolio, offers students the opportunity to be part of the club's stock analyst teams, who guide the buying and selling strategies, and thus are wholly implicated in the execution of the portfolio's strategy.

The Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation Club is part of Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation that has been established as a non-profit collaborative foundation in order to raise capital and operating revenue to create and sustain an academically based Centre of Excellence in Clinical Neurosciences, based at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, whereby to provide a high quality clinical service to the people of Ghana and West Africa and to foster an academic environment of relevant teaching and research to benefit Ghanaian and West African society.

MedSpecs is a student-run interfaculty pre-med society founded by undergraduate students.  We strive to aid undergraduate students from all academic backgrounds in their paths towards successfully entering medical school by providing opportunities to shadow physicians, volunteer at hospitals and participate in research.  Informative seminars are held throughout the year to address pertinent issues regarding the admissions process and various medical school requirements. Most importantly, we make it our mandate to foster a supportive community to share resources and aid each other towards achieving our career goals.

Cricket Club - Facebook

Cricket Club organizes cricket tournaments, cricket game viewing sessions, and other such events for cricket lovers.


Dragon Boat Z - Facebook

A club that participates in dragon boat racing. A dragon boat or "dragonboat" is a very long and narrow, canoe style human-powered boat now used in the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing which originated in China over 2000 years ago. While competition has taken place annually for more than 20 centuries as part of folk ritual.


Get Fit – Facebook

The Get Fit Club is a free student to student personal training program at McGill, it's an athletics form of peer tutoring. There are two types of positions available: trainers and students.


Trainers are experienced in fitness and willing to workout with fellow students and share knowledge and training techniques. They participate in a brief training prior to classes. Students move to establish a good workout regime and establish friends that they can work out with. All current members have a great motivation to live a healthy lifestyle and meet new people. In addition, both trainers and students gain access to a newsletter full of nutritional and healthy lifestyle tips with their membership.

The McGill Karate Club was founded in 1967 by Master Masayuki Hisataka (9th Dan) who was then part of the Japanese cultural delegation at Expo 67. Now in our 41st year of operation, we offer karate instruction through the McGill Campus Recreation Program. We teach a full-contact style of traditional karate with Okinawan, Japanese, Chinese, and Canadian influences.


Mc-Ill Freestyle - Facebook

A club for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Features trips to various mountains in the area. Pay per event, an annual membership is not required.


Muggle Quidditch Team - Facebook

Muggle Quidditch is a co-ed sport based on Quidditch. It is popular with fans of the novels, fantasy sports aficionados, and children. In Muggle Quidditch, as in Wizard Quidditch there are four positions on a team. Due to the non-existence of magical devices, Muggle Quidditch is played on the ground, with game play confined to a playing field comparable in size to a soccer field. Come find us on lower-east field on the regular!

The MOC is one of the oldest Outdoors (Outing) Clubs in Montreal, founded in 1936. Every weekend, MOC'ers just like you are out there enjoying themselves in the great outdoors. You can say that the MOC is the hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, cycling and climbing clubs combined into one. MOC'ers do it all! Want to learn first aid? How about telemark skiing? Or maybe ice climbing? The MOC organizes courses for beginners all the time (and they're usually really cheap).

The McGill ski club and team are great ways to get outdoors, meet awesome people, and ski lots! The team competes in 5 races spaced every second weekend or so during the winter semester. The club has day trips and weekend trips on the other weekends and also comes with the team to races to cheer on our racers and to get some good skiing done :). There is also a 5 day ski camp at the end of the winter holiday which is not to be missed.


Snowboard Club - Facebook

For those of you who don't know much about the club, we go up to a different hill every Saturday. Buses leave from McGill Downtown and Mac campuses (new this year!). The trips start in December and the


bulk of the trips are in the winter semester. Some of our favorite hills are Mont Saint Anne, Jay Peak, Bromont, Sutton, Sugerbush, Owls Head, Stoneham, Tremblant and Le Massif. Yes you do have to pay for a
membership but it is definitely worth it! We are different from the McGill Ski Team/Club. How? They are a
team/club focused more on competing, and we are a social club, more relaxed, more focused on hanging out and having fun!
